Department of Urdu organizes One-Day Post-Doctoral Research Workshop 

Islamabad, October 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Urdu, Faculty of Languages and Literature, FLL of International Islamic University Islamabad has organized a one-day post-doctoral research workshop titled “Formalities of Research and Academic Prose Writing” at Zafar Ishaq Ansari Hall, Imam Abu Hanifah Block of Mail Campus, IIUI.

The one-day training workshop titled “Formalities of Research and Scientific Prose Writing” which was consisted of two sessions. During the first session of workshop Dr. Najiba Arif, Dean Faculty of Languages and Literature, IIUI and Dr. Abid Syal, Associate Professor, National University of Modern Languages, NUML, Islamabad addressed to the participants. Dr. Aziz Ibnual Hassan, Associate Professor / Chairman, Urdu Department (Male), IIUI and Dr. Rauf Parekh, Director General, National Language Promotion Institute, Islamabad were speakers of the second session of the workshop.

Dr. Najiba Arif, Dean Faculty of Languages and Literature, presented the definitions of academic prose writing during the workshop, Dr. Najiba also briefed about the planning, formal and standard language, logical method, objective method, intellectual and linguistic connections are necessary for academic prose. During the workshop Dr. Syed Kamran Abbas Kazmi, Assistant Professor, Urdu Department highlighted the need and importance of organizing the training workshop.

Dr. Ghulam Farida (in charge of academic programs) and focal person of the workshop gave a detailed introduction among the scholars regarding the first post-doctoral program under the supervision of Department of Urdu, Faculty of Languages and Literature, FLL of International Islamic University, Islamabad.

Dr. Aziz Ibnal Hassan shared the topic “Scientific Prose and Modern Concepts”. Dr. Aziz categorized various texts by appropriating scholarly and literary prose and provided detailed information to the audience regarding modern prose. He added that academic prose should be reasoned, comprehensive and concise, academic prose should be balanced, non-objective and impartial.

Dr. Rauf Parekh shared punctuation and writing issues in Urdu with participants and clarified how to write Urdu scripts. He added that the language is the evolution of the entire civilization. Dr. Bibi Ameena, Lecturer / sub editor, Me’yar, IIUI also briefed about the need and importance of the workshop. Dr. Abid Syal, Associate Professor, National University of Modern Languages, NUML, and Islamabad presented all the steps of Research in detail with the workshop participants.

The scholars of the workshop include, Dr. Salman, Assistant Professor, Higher Education Commission, Swat, Dr. Azmat Rabab, Assistant Professor, Lahore College Women University, Dr. Shahida Rasool, Assistant Professor, President of Department of Urdu Women University, Multan and Dr. Tahir Nawaz, Assistant Professor, Karakoram International University Gilgit, Pakistan.
