Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors Delegation calls on Chief Minister Punjab

Lahore, May 01, 2018 (PPI-OT): A delegation of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) led by its president Zia Shahid called on PML-N president and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here today. The delegation appreciated the performance of Punjab Information Department over the release of government advertisements and provision of their dues. The CPNE president Zia Shahid said that distribution of advertisements in Punjab is being carried out in a transparent manner and the Information Department has adopted a foolproof mechanism for the distribution of advertisements.

Your team is proactively working, he added. The CPNE delegation appreciated the performance of Shehbaz Sharif for the speedy development of the province adding that everyone is fond of his hard work. They said that a number of development work has been carried out in Punjab during the last ten years. Work was not done during the last ten years in Sindh; rather it has been put in reverse gear. Therefore, there should be a Shehbaz Sharif in Sindh as well.

Talking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that nation is going towards elections and it is hoped that free and fair elections would be held. The future of democracy and that of the country lies in it, he added. He said that elections would be held on the basis of performance and the voter will give vote on the basis of performance adding that role of media is very important in this regard. He said that facts should be brought out as facts because national interest lies in it. Baseless allegations are not in the interest of the country, he opined.

He said that appreciation of Information Department by the CPNE is praiseworthy and congratulated the whole team of Information Department. He said that future of country would be bright by giving equal opportunities to all in the elections. Imran Khan was given a wonderful opportunity to implement the 11-points in the KPK but it did not take benefit of it. We have taken wonderful steps for the improvement of every sector in Punjab. He said that Pakistan was swirling for the last 70 years and now this country should be moved forward with joint consultations.

There is no need to worry about as country’s future is bright. He said that we will run vigorous election campaign in Punjab and in other provinces and added that development in other provinces is also necessary alongside the Punjab. He said that unique steps have been taken for the development of Southern Punjab during the last ten years. 42% development funds were provided for 31% population of Southern Punjab and 10% additional quota was provided to Southern Punjab in every development program. He said that he is sorry if anyone is hurt over the statement of Rana Sanaullah. Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Rana Mashhood Ahmad, Zaeem Qadri, spokesman Punjab government Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
