Bahawalpur, November 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Department of Iqbal Studies Islamia University Bahawalpur and Punjab Arts Council Bahawalpur in collaboration with the ten-day self-celebration of Iqbal Day was held at Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Auditorium Baghdaul-Jeed Campus the Islamia University Bahawalpur. Secretary Education South Punjab Dr. Ehtsham Anwar, Commissioner Bahawalpur Raja Jahangir Anwar and Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Engineer Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob attended the event as special guests.
Dr. Ehtsham Anwar Secretary Education South Punjab praised Islamia University regarding the celebration while expressing his resolve that such events will be included in the annual calendar of South Punjab under his patronage. He further said that people generally consider Iqbal as a difficult poet, but through his simple words, the task of reforming the society can be fulfilled. On this occasion, he recited several verses from Iqbal Poems were also presented.
Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur in his presidential address said that this is an important occasion that Islamia University has fulfilled the duty of understanding Iqbal not only at the university level but also at the level of schools and colleges. This is the first time that students from class IX to graduation level participated in various competitions and celebrated their hidden talents. Surely Allama Iqbal used to mention the fertility of the soil is in front of us in the form of these students of ours.
He expressed his determination that the Department of Iqbal Studies of Islamia University will continue to organize such programs for the promotion of Iqbal thought. Sajjad Hussain Director Punjab Arts Council Bahawalpur welcomed the participants. Dr. Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Chairman, Department of Iqbal, while thanking the participants, said that schools, colleges and universities will help convey the message of Iqbal to the new generation. Level students were given an opportunity to express their skills. Fifteen to twenty-five year old male and female students participated fully in this regard. In some competitions, novice students also won the first position.
In the main event, all the events were presented to the audience through a short video which was appreciated. Prof. Dr. Javed Hassan Chandio in his welcome speech praised the performance of the Department of Iqbaliyat and emphasized the need and importance of arts and other sciences. He said that Allama Iqbal has many aspects. The new generation should be aware of Iqbal’s thought so that the new generation can improve themselves with the philosophy of Khudi. The audience appreciated the performance of Ghazala Yasmin and colleagues who took the first position in tableau.
Ali Umar Arsalan, who won the first position in the speech competition, received applause from the participants through his speech. Muhammad Hamza Farooqi expressed the commitment of students to Iqbal appreciated He emphasized on the need of Iqbal’s teachings in the present era. He also briefly presented the research work on Iqbal’s prophecies. The drama presented on the theme of independence was well appreciated. Renowned educationist Professor Dr. Hameed Raza Siddiqui said that promotion and understanding of Iqbaliyat is the most important need of the hour. He proposed to make the Iqbaliyat department work for the preparation of school level textbooks. Dr. Muhammad Asghar Sial and Nureed Fatima performed the duties of organizing the event.
