Chairman NEPRA calls on IIUI Rector 

Islamabad, June 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman National Electronic Power Regulatory Authority, NEPRA, Dr. Tauseef H. Farooqi along with Advisor Hydro Power, Bahadar Shah visited International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI)’s Faisal Masjid Campus and met with Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI at his Office.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Prof. Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, FET, Dr. Ahsan Mirza, Director, Business Incubation Center, BIC were also present in the meeting. During the meeting, issues pertaining to mutual interests were discussed. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai briefed about the university vision, future plans and academic activities on campus.

The Chairman NEPRA elaborated NEPRA’s role in Power Sector and specially told that NEPRA is keen to interact with all universities to work together in the field of Power Sector. He also hailed initiative taken by university to achieve academic excellence in the field of research and technology. During discussion Dr. Tauseef shared the initiatives taken by the regulatory authority and emphasized to make strong linkages among academia and industry, terming it the need of the hour.

Dr. Masoom assured to provide maximum support from academia, faculty of Engineering and Technology and Faculty of Management Sciences by providing students for various projects of NEPRA. Chairman NEPRA opined that the initiatives taken by the electronic power regulatory authority will open a new window of opportunities for the best competitive projects. He added that NEPRA is working on industry academia nexus as organizations need to be proactive in present scenario.

Dr. Masoom said on the occasion that IIUI is keen to cooperate and enhance its joint ventures for the ongoing projects launched by NEPRA for the betterment and development of the society and country. He also assured maximum academic cooperation in this regard. He added that in view of prevailing situation of scarce resources the university is working on good competitive proposals that will have a meaningful and constructive impact on society as our Business Incubation Center is continuously working on it.

Earlier, Chairman NEPRA, visited Islamic Research Centre, its Dr. Hameedullah Library and picture gallery where Dr. Zia ul Haq, Director General, Islamic Research Institute, IRI, IIUI Welcomed the delegates and briefed them about the inception of the university, history of Islamic Research Institute and ongoing projects of the institute on the occasion. At the end, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai also presented a university crest and publications of Islamic Research Institute, IRI and Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue, IRD, IIUI.
