Celebration of Global Climate Change Week for the Year 2022

Chitral, November 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Chitral in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society KP organized a painting and Art competition among the students on the occasion of Global Climate Change week celebrations. Global Climate Change Week (GCCW) encourages academic communities – including academics, students, and non-academic staff at universities – in all disciplines and countries to engage with each other, their communities, and policymakers on climate change action and solutions.

There is an urgent need to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases much more quickly than is currently projected. There is also an urgent need to adapt to global warming that can’t now be prevented, especially for rich countries to help other countries to adapt and develop in low-carbon ways. The purpose of the event is to encourage academic communities – including academics, students, and professional staff at universities and their local municipalities – to contribute more to ensure that these needs are met.

The Chief Guest of the event was Prof Dr. Tajudin, the provost University of Chitral. He stressed educating the young generation on the devastating impacts of Global warming. He also urged the students to play their role in mitigating the impacts of global warming. Mr. Ayaz Ali, Program Officer of Climate change, Pakistan Red crescent encouraged the students to work as change agents and play an active role in combating global warming.
