Pakistan women to tour Australia

Lahore, May 30, 2022 (PPI-OT): Pakistan women will tour Australia for three T20Is and three ODIs, which will be played in Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra from 16-29 January 2023.

The ODIs, which will be part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-2025, will be played on 16, 18 and 21 January with the opening two games scheduled in Brisbane. The third ODI will be held on 21 January in Sydney, which will also stage the first T20I on 24 January.

The remaining two T20Is will be played in Canberra on 27 and 29 January.

Pakistan’s tour to Australia is one of their four away series in this competition played over a three-year period. Their other three away series are against Bangladesh, England and New Zealand, schedule of which will be announced in due course.

Pakistan is presently hosting Sri Lanka, which is one of the four series that will be played in their backyard. Ireland, South Africa and West Indies are the other home series with Ireland scheduled to tour in November, while details of South Africa and West Indies to be announced closer to time.

The ICC Women’s Championship is being competed by 10 sides, which include Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies. At the end of the three-year cycle, the top five teams and the hosts will book a berth for the World Cup in 2025, while the rest of the teams will have to go through the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

In addition to the ICC Women’s Championship fixtures, Pakistan women will also participate in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (25 July-8 August), December’s ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (2-26 February).

I am pleased to inform that the IOC Olympic Solidarity has invited NOC Pakistan to submit applications for International Executive Training Course in Sports Management Program (MEMOS). This program to help professionals working in national or international sports bodies to develop the knowledge required in order to better manage their organization.

This program is based on four face-to-face education and training sessions as given below. It will allow you to experiment your newly acquired knowledge directly into your organisation. MEMOS is scheduled over eleven to twelve months and consists of three nine-to-twelve days residential sessions, each dedicated to two to three main subjects, and a three-day final session devoted to the Defense and presenting of participants’ personal research project.

23 April – 02 May, 2023 at Olympia, Greece

Olympic Solidarity will cover the tuition fee, cost of airfare in economy direct routing, and provide accommodation in Lausanne sessions / modules. MEMOS participants are responsible for all the expenses not covered by Olympic Solidarity (including, but not limited to local travel costs, accommodation and meals not covered by Olympic Solidarity, entry visas, medical/travel insurance, vaccinations, COVID test, etc.).

KPMG to conduct club scrutiny

Lahore, May 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Cricket Board, as part of his commitment to promote, implement and establish transparency and fairness, has appointed renowned auditing and accounting firm KPMG Taseer Hadi and Co. to conduct country-wide club scrutiny.

The scrutiny will commence in the Kasur District where the process will run from 1-4 June and 50 registered clubs will take part.

Following Kasur District, KPMG Taseer Hadi and Co. will conduct club scrutiny in other districts with an aim to complete the process within four months. Complete schedule of the club scrutiny in other districts will be announced in due course through the Cricket Associations.

KPMG Taseer Hadi and Co. involvement is the fourth phase in the process. In the first phase, basic information about the clubs was collected where 4,022 clubs applied, in the second phase, players’ data from 3,822 clubs was submitted through an online process. In the third phase, 3,644 clubs submitted the printed forms as part of the process.

Following the third phase, 3,644 clubs from a total of 3,822 clubs that had applied in the second phase will be scrutinized. Out of 3,644 clubs, 813 completed the process in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cricket Association jurisdiction, followed by 770 clubs in the Central Punjab Cricket Association, 617 clubs in the Sindh Cricket Association, 502 clubs in the Southern Punjab Cricket Association, 482 clubs in the Balochistan Cricket Association and 460 clubs in Northern Cricket Association.

Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan: “The involvement of KPMG Taseer Hadi and Co in the club scrutiny process will bring transparency, openness and fairness in this important process as we head towards complete involvement and participation of genuine cricket clubs so that they can continue to play their important role in providing opportunities to young cricketers and feeding quality talent to the national framework.

“The genuine cricket clubs will also assist in the elections at the City Cricket Association level that will lead to the formation of the six elected Cricket Associations with three Cricket Association representatives getting on the Board of Governors. It is the PCB’s endeavour to complete this process within four months so that we can put in place a robust cricket and administrative structure.”

Updated CCA senior trials schedule at Northern, Sindh announced

Lahore, May 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Cricket Board in consultation with the Cricket Associations announced the updated schedules for City Cricket Association trials in jurisdictions falling under Northern and Sind cricket associations.

The CCA senior trials schedule in Northern is available here, while the updated schedule for trials in Sindh is available here.

Meanwhile, the PCB has announced that the Islamabad and Rawalpindi CCA U19 matches, which were postponed on 24 May, will be held tomorrow (27 May).

Furthermore, the second phase of the National High Performance Centre conditioning camp will commence from 29 May in Lahore with 34 players participating.

ICC congratulates Satterthwaite on a superb career

Dubai, May 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council (ICC) has congratulated former New Zealand captain Amy Satterthwaite for an impressive 15-year international career during which she played in several ICC events and bilateral series.

The 35-year-old all-rounder, who announced her retirement on Thursday, was part of the New Zealand squad at this year’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and is her country’s most-capped ODI player.

Satterthwaite’s career high points include the then best Women’s T20I match figures of six for 17 against England in 2007 and four consecutive centuries in ODIs in 2016-17.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said Satterthwaite was a hero for many and hoped that she would continue to be associated with the game.

Satterthwaite, a left-handed batter, aggregated 4,639 runs with seven centuries and 27 half-centuries in 145 ODIs. In 111 T20Is, she scored 1,784 runs with one half-century. Her off-spin bowling got her 50 wickets in ODIs and 26 in T20Is.
