Lahore, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood will inaugurate Sports Board Punjab’s Cricket Academy outside Punjab Stadium on Nov 18, 2022 (Friday). Punjab Chief Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan and other top officials will also attend the launching ceremony.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi in a statement on Thursday said that Sports Board Punjab’s cricket academy will be another significant measure for the promotion of cricket among the young generation.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that young players will be trained and groomed under the supervision of expert cricket coaches at the newly-constructed five cricket pitches. “This academy is a continuation of our talent hunt campaign in different games. In recent days, we have launched athletics, tennis, swimming and table tennis academies in Nishtar Park Sports Complex,” he revealed.

Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab conducts third awareness programme against addiction of drugs and electronic gadgets 

Lahore, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):In continuation of its unique campaign to save youth from the destructive addiction of drugs and electronic gadgets, Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab has organised its third awareness programme at Islamia College Civil Lines on Wednesday on the directions of Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Ehsan Bhutta.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Vice Principal Dr. Asim Nadeem, Dr. Asghar Yazdani, Director Sports Prof Safdar Ali Asif, President of History Department Prof Hanif Abbasi, Project Development Specialist Qasim Zia, Assistant Director Youth Affairs Nazish Noor, Research Officer Sadia Pervez, Abdul Malik, college professors and a large number of students attended the awareness workshop.

Addressing the awareness workshop, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that youth can stay safe from drugs by participating in sports activities. “There is no doubt that sports inspires youth to move forward in their respective careers and fields”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that Youth Affairs Wing is taking effective measures to led young boys and girls towards constructive activities. “Our youth is quite talented. They should use technology for positive purposes instead of wasting their time in irrelevant music videos and other such things”.

Praising the efforts of Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta, Vice Principal Dr. Asim Nadeem said “It is the best effort of Secretary Sports Ehsan Bhutta for the wellbeing of youth and building a healthy society”.

He said the young generation is spending more time on electronic devices which is not helping their mental development. “Spending hours on electronic devices is having negative effects on the physical health of the youth,” he added. Project Development Specialist Qasim Zia said that drugs are poison for youth and it is very important to organize such healthy activities to save the young generation from this poison”.

Lahore, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab, on the directions of Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Ehsan Bhutta, has organised a second awareness programme at Govt APWA College for Women to save youth from addiction of drugs and electronic gadgets on Tuesday.

Additional Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Malik Sanaullah, Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan, Project Development Specialist Qasim Zia, Vice-Principal APWA College for Women Navera Fatima, college professors and a large number of students also attended the awareness workshop.

Addressing the awareness workshop, Additional Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Malik Sanaullah said that Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab is organsing these workshops to spread the awareness about negative impacts of drugs and electronic devices. “The talented youth are a valuable asset of our country and we should utilize all of our resources to make them useful citizens of the society”.

He said that the Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab is planning to hold more such awareness workshops in other boys and girls colleges of the province. “We are quite upbeat that we will be able to carve our encouraging results from our campaign”.

Vice-Principal APWA College for Women Navera Fatima on this occasion thanked Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Ehsan Bhutta for choosing APWA College for Women for this useful and healthy activity. “Our young generation must take full benefit from these awareness programmes,” she added.

Talking on this occasion, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that Sports Board Punjab is taking every possible measure for the promotion of sports culture across the province.

He said that Sports Board Punjab is also going to launch a cricket academy on 18th of this month. “This academy will be a continuation of our talent hunt campaign in different games. In recent days, we have launched athletics, tennis, swimming and table tennis academies in Nishtar Park Sports Complex”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that several international cricket stars will impart training to young camp trainees at the SBP cricket academy. “These academies in Punjab are being established as per our plan to spread a network of different sports academies to provide top standard training to our talented athletes”.

Lahore, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sports Board Punjab, on the directions of Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood, live televised Pakistan-England T20 World Cup final match on the country’s biggest screen at the world’s biggest National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan, Director Sports Chand Perveen, Deputy Director Tariq Wattoo, Assistant Director Zahoor Ahmed and other officials watched the Pakistan-England T20 World Cup final match on country’s biggest screen.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood in a statement on Sunday said that Sports Board Punjab made excellent arrangements for the grand final match. “Thousands of crazy male and female cricket enthusiasts including several families enjoyed the final of T20 Cricket World Cup on a giant screen but unfortunately Pakistan could not win the title clash,” he added.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood further said that the enthusiasm of cricket-mad fans was a treat to watch especially whenever a batter struck a six and a bowler took a wicket at the Grand National Hockey Stadium. “Young cricket fans danced and made a huge noise to cheer the national cricket team during the title deciding encounter”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi appreciated the discipline and passion of cricket fans during the final match. “Pakistan cricket team played good cricket but unfortunately they failed to script a favourable result in overcast conditions. We should back our players and encourage them for next tough cricket competitions,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that Sports Board Punjab provided best facilities to cricket fans at the National Hockey Stadium during the live telecasting of the T20 World Cup final match. “Sports Board Punjab as per its policy will continue to promote all sports disciplines across the province”.

Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan said that the entry was totally free for cricket enthusiasts to watch the T20 World Cup final clash in National Hockey Stadium. “Sports Board Punjab made all necessary measures including Punjab Food Authority’s nutrition camp and presence of security and Rescue 1122 officials at National Hockey Stadium to cope with any emergency,” he added.

Big gains for Australia batters in MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings 

Dubai, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Australia openers David Warner and Travis Head have made notable gains in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings after an epic 269-run partnership at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) while Steve Smith’s consistence performances in the home series against England have helped him attain a career-best equaling seventh position

Warner, a formerly top-ranked batter, has gained one spot to reach fifth position in the list after a score of 106 in the final match that helped him finish with 240 runs and win the Player of the Series award. Head, who accumulated 208 runs after his Player of the Match effort of 152 at the MCG, has progressed 12 spots to reach 30th position.

Smith finished third in the list of run-scorers, his 195 runs good enough to lift him three places to seventh place, a position he had held in January 2017. Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh too have moved up the list and occupy 68th and 84th positions, respectively.

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who was named Player of the Match for a haul of four for 47 in the second ODI in Sydney, has moved up four places to take fourth position while leg-spinner Adam Zampa (up eight places to seventh) and Pat Cummins (up one place to 17th) have also moved up the bowlers’ rankings.

For England, Phil Salt and Dawid Malan have entered the top 100. Salt has progressed six slots to reach 97th position while Malan has advanced 56 places and is ranked 100th.

Players from Namibia and the USA have also gained in the latest weekly update for their performances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. Skipper Gerhard Erasmus of Namibia (up two places to 48th) and Monank Patel of the USA (up three places to 50th) have moved up the batters’ list while Saurabh Netravalkar of the USA has reached a career-best 31st position among bowlers after taking two wickets each against Namibia and Papua New Guinea.

In the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, New Zealand opener Devon Conway’s knock of 59 in the tied final match of the series against India has helped him gain one slot to reach third position while Glenn Phillips (up one place to seventh among batters) and Tim Southee (up two places to joint-14th among bowlers) have also gained.

For India, captain Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 30 in the final match has helped him reach joint-50th position among batters while Bhuvneshwar Kumar (up two places to 11th), Arshdeep Singh (up one place to 21st) and Yuzvendra Chahal (up eight places to 40th) are the bowlers to gain in the latest update.
