Prof Dr Yasar Ayaz to be honoured with PEC Excellence Award

Islamabad, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):We are proud to share that Prof. Dr. Yasar Ayaz, Chairman National Center of Artificial Intelligence and Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at NUST, is being awarded the PEC Excellence Award by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), in recognition of his ‘extraordinary contribution and services to the engineering profession.’

Recipient of the Pride of Performance Award in 2021, Dr Yasar Ayaz is the Founding Head of the Department of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at NUST. He is the P.I. of the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Engineering (R.I.S.E.) Lab of NUST. He has authored over 130 international publications and has 3 product design patents registered, with several more in the review process.

The Conferment of the PEC Excellence Award has been scheduled by the President of Pakistan at Aiwan-e-Sadar on October 18, 2022. NUST congratulates Dr Yasar Ayaz for another well-deserved honour.

Data driven governance and digital transformation keys to bright future: Participants 

Islamabad, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Participants of the 7th International Applied Business Research Conference (IABRC) commenced at International Islamic University (IIU) agreed that initiatives to increase export, data driven governance and digital transformation are the keys to a bright future for the country.

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Management Sciences of IIUI. In the conference, policy makers, industrial experts and research scholars are participating to share thoughts and experiences on the themes of finance, technology management, entrepreneurship, management and marketing in the light of digital transformation and other contemporary advancements and needs of the field. A number of renowned personalities addressed the conference in the light of the theme.

Konstanatios Syriopuoulos and Dr. Ahmed Rahman Songip were the keynote speakers who discussed new innovative ways of management in terms of organizational and digital transformation, credit spread and bonds.

CEO Imarat group and Garana.com, Shafiq Akbar discussed real estate potential and digital transformation in Pakistan. He also opined that human resource and real estate are the aspects that can benefit Pakistan in progress that he said possible by making the investment as a part of economic activity. He also pointed out trapped investment in real estate and its negative impact. He suggested that digitization of the real estate sector through regulation is the need of the hour.

Advisor HEC, Awais Ahmed said that incubation centers in the Pakistani universities have true capacity to be utilized. He added that digital transformation is an urgent need in the sector of business management. He also talked about initiatives of HEC including E books, smart class rooms, digital library, educational TV and online education.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIU addressing the inaugural session said that the business management graduates must be the job providers instead of job seekers. He stressed that entrepreneurship must be promoted among the youth. He also urged women to come forward in entrepreneurship.

Dr. Masoom added that the business world is witnessing tremendous shifts due to emerging trends in technology. He opined that no business can survive presently without Digital transformation. He also added that everybody should acquire the latest technological skills for capacity building.

Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President (Academics), lauded conference organizers for choosing the theme of the conference. He said that the conference is a vibrant attempt to bring together academicians, research scholars, policymakers, and industrial experts for collaborative research and experience sharing. Earlier, chair of the conference and Dean FMS, Dr. Abdul Rahman Dean FMS apprised of the objectives of the conference. He discussed Digital transformation, resistance to change and other themes of the conference.

ICC launches world-first for cricket: Digital collectibles to be created as iconic moments happen

Dubai, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council today confirmed the content that will be available to media via the ICC Online Media Zone (OMZ) during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

As during past events, the ICC Online Media Zone (OMZ) will be the one-stop shop for media and will include media advisories relating to media opportunities and team training, previews, ICC ambassador columns, videos and transcripts, which will be available to registered members of the media for free editorial use giving credit to the ICC.

Surrey all-rounder Will Jacks is called up to the Test squad for the first time after an impressive summer saw him play an integral part with bat and off-spin, helping Surrey win the LV= Insurance County Championship Division One title.

Lancashire all-rounder Liam Livingstone will be looking to make his Test debut, having been called up to a Test squad for the first time since England’s tour of New Zealand in the spring of 2018.

Lancashire opening batter Keaton Jennings returns to the Test squad for the first time since February 2019 after a stellar summer with the red rose county, where he was the top run-scorer in Division One of the LV= Insurance County Championship, scoring1233 runs at an average of 72.52 with five centuries.

Nottinghamshire batter Ben Duckett could be in line to return to Test cricket for the first time since November 2016 after impressing in the County Championship and the England Lions across the summer.

Durham fast bowler Mark Wood, who is currently playing in Australia in England’s campaign for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, returns to the Test squad for the first time since March, and Surrey quick Jamie Overton is included after making his Test debut earlier in the summer against New Zealand at Headingly.

Nottinghamshire seam bowler Stuart Broad was not considered for selection, with his partner expecting their first child towards the end of November.

Commenting on the selected squad, ECB Managing Director for England Men’s Cricket, Rob Key, said:

“We are looking forward to touring Pakistan as a Test team for the first time since 2005. It will be a historic tour and a compelling series against a good side.

“The selectors have picked a squad for the conditions we can expect in Pakistan. There is a strong blend of youth and experience and players who will adapt well to the types of pitches we are likely to get across the three-match series.

“I wish the players every success, especially those new to the squad and those returning after a period of time away.”

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is providing scholarships worth more than 1.10 Billion rupees for 20,000 students

Bahawalpur, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is providing scholarships worth more than 1 billion 10 crore rupees for 20,000 students. Due to the largest program of financial assistance, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has become the center of attention of students and parents for admissions.

The university has also given large-scale financial assistance to the flood-affected students. This was expressed by the Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob in his statement. He said that the financial aid department was changed to Directorate. In the year 2020-21, the value of these scholarships was Rs. 70 crore, which has increased to more than 1.1 billion rupees.

Scholarships worth crores of rupees are being given under the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Ehsaas Scholarship Scheme, HEC Need Based, Punjab Education Endowment Funds, HEC USAID, Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme, Baitul Mal and Mora Scholarship Scheme.

The university is also giving scholarships worth 5 crore rupees to more than 5000 students from its own sources. A financial assistance program called Financial Crisis has been launched for those students who cannot enrol in the university due to poor financial conditions and lack of resources. Similarly, hundreds of students are benefiting under the fee waiver program.
