ICC unveils world first digital experiences that take fans closer to the game

Dubai, October 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Cricket fans will be able to get never before seen insights on the game they love through the ICC’s new digital experiences launched for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

The 2021 event in Oman and the UAE delivered outstanding global engagement with a record total of 2.55 billion minutes of action consumed across the ICC’s digital assets. A total of 618 million fans engaged with the tournament on digital platforms, a 28% jump from the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.

Now the ICC are taking digital coverage to the next level for the tournament in Australia, with a range of new world-leading activations on the official mobile app – available on iOS and android – and tournament website t20worldcup.com.

The dedicated tournament app will leverage rich data to create a world-first 360-degree visualisation of the tournament’s biggest sixes in the match centre.

And for the first time, fans will be able to see live fielding positions thanks to live data from the ICC’s Official Data Supplier Sport Radar.

The ICC will be leveraging the latest technology in its app to deliver a new vertical video experience powered by AI-generated match highlights, which will complement the content being published across ICC channels on Facebook and Instagram as part of the ICC’s ground-breaking partnership with Meta.

The ICC will be working with Meta to bring Instagram Reels producers from India, Australia and New Zealand to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to create content that will reach a new and younger audience.

Fans in the stadium will get access to new interactive features that enables them to help create world class live experiences, including in stadia voting for what music will be played at matches and being a part of interactive light shows at certain events.

At certain matches, fans will also be able to engage in a “Big Time” immersive AR experience.

“The ICC is dedicated to using technology to elevate the cricket fan’s experience, whether they are in a stadium in Perth or on the bus in Pune. All of these new features on the official ICC App are designed to take them closer to the game they love and feel a closer connection to this amazing event,” said Finn Bradshaw, the ICC’s Head of Digital. “We hope this means every cricket fan in the world can easily find the information they need and the content they love.”

While the ICC takes its non-live coverage to a new level this event, our Broadcast Partner Disney Star and its Licensees will showcase the live matches on a global basis along with highlights, pre / post shows and other programming. The tournament gets underway on October 16 when Namibia face Sri Lanka at Kardinia Park in Geelong.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrated in unprecedented way at Sindh University

Jamshoro, October 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Eid Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated with religious fervour at the University of Sindh Jamshoro under the auspices of Institute of Languages and Bureau of Students Tutorial Guidance Counselling Services and Co-Curricular Activities (STAGS) here on Thursday.

The event held in SU’s Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium, Arts Faculty Building was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor University of Sindh Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro; however, prominent religious leader and head of the Central Advisory Board of the global movement for the preaching of Quran and Sunnah, Dawat-e-Islami AL haj Molana Muhammad Imran Attari spoke about the life of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) and shed light on various aspects. He enlightened the ceremony with the light of remembrance and thought of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

He urged the youth to recite the Holy Quran and try to understand it along with establishing 5-time prayers so that they might emerge victorious in the world and the hereafter. He lamented that the majority of Muslims across the world was rapidly decreasing. To halt such ebb, the youth will have to come forward to establish prayers in real sense.

On the occasion, SU Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, while referring to Surah Ikhlas, said that the mentioned Surah of Holy Qur’an was a clear proof of the oneness of Allah Almighty and that there was no match of Him and He is matchless and ubiquitous.

“No one can be associated with Allah. He is the Lord of the worlds while Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the mercy for the worlds”, Dr Kalhoro said and added that there were 46,000 male and female students studying simultaneously at the University of Sindh.

“Those who do not know how to recite the Holy Quran, should get guidance/ learn from the students who have read it in their leisure time after classes”, he said. The Vice-Chancellor said that for religious brotherhood in Pakistan, people of all sects should respect each other and no one should speak against others.

Dr. Kalhoro disagreed with AL haj Muhammad Imran Attari on the point that the number of the Muslims were all over the world and said that it was a wrong perception that the number of Muslims across globe was decreasing day by day. He said Muslims’ population was increasing in different countries day by day.

He said that taking into account the increasing number of Muslims in different countries, the option from the religious column in census form had been deleted by the rulers in order to pose that the Islamic followers were diminishing across the world. “There is no reality is it, I believe”, the Vice-Chancellor said and added that it was obligation on every Muslim to adopt the teachings of Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and lead their lives accordingly in order to get success.

On the occasion, AL haj Muhammad Imran collectively prayed to God almighty for the development of the University of Sindh, better future of the students, prosperity of the country and enabling Muslims to follow the Quran and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Dean Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Muhammad Khan Sangi, Registrar Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, Director Institute of Languages Mufti Sahibzada, Professor Jan-Alam Solangi, Professor Saqib Buriro, Dr. Mubarak Ali Lashari, Dr. Elahi Bakhsh Gopang, prof. P@SHA and LUMS Partner to Meet Hyper-Growth in the IT Sector

Lahore, October 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) and LUMS have signed a wide-ranging MoU to strengthen industry-academia collaboration geared towards skill development, job placement, industry-driven curriculum, and research.

While Pakistan has over 300,000 IT professionals and its universities are producing over 25,000 IT graduates annually, the industry struggles to recruit skilled graduates as IT companies hire only 10% of the applicants. The partnership with LUMS is a major step in addressing this gap through reskilling and up skilling initiatives by relevant stakeholders.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Arsalan Khalid, Provincial Minister for IT, Punjab, who expressed his enthusiasm to support this initiative. He outlined the Punjab government’s vision for IT to create a government-industry-academic framework for revamping skills-based criteria that graduates can bring to Pakistan’s growing market.

Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, said this partnership could provide an excellent collaborative model of curriculum development that will eventually position the IT industry to compete regionally and beyond. He said, “It is time to lay the foundation for one of Pakistan’s growth sectors that will have a huge impact in opening doors for our youth who are keen to participate”.

Mr. Badar Khushnood, Chairman of P@SHA, echoed the need for stronger linkages and a robust human resource development ecosystem in the country. He said, “This partnership will ensure innovative, market-oriented, evolving and internationally aligned IT skills development and training programmes that can support diverse capabilities and business verticals including finance and banking, e-commerce, retail and distribution, healthcare services, agriculture, food processing, learning technologies, and large-scale manufacturing”.

This collaboration will usher activities, including seminars, training workshops, exhibitions, conferences, trade fairs, placement, and internships. Pakistan’s IT industry can position itself as a major driver of economic growth, having achieved $2.62 billion in exports over the last year. According to one source, digital transformation could add over $59.7 billion in annual economic value by 2030, equivalent to almost 19% of the country’s GDP.
