A series of events was organized by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, on the occasion of “Rabi-ul-Awwal” 

Bahawalpur, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):A series of events organized by Seerat Chair Islamia University of Bahawalpur, “Seventh of Glory of Prophet Muhammad SAW”, Seerat-ul-Nabi Seminar and Kal Pakistan Inter-University Competitions were organized. The inaugural program of these events was held in Khawaja Ghulam Farid Auditorium, Islamia University, Bahawalpur, in which eminent religious scholar Allama Muhammad Raza Saqib Mustafai participated as a guest speaker.

Dr. Ghulam Haider, Assistant Professor, Department of Islamic Studies, Islamia University, Bahawalpur, organized the program. Dr. Sujeela Kausar, Director Sirat Chair, Islamia University Bahawalpur delivered the welcome address.

In her sermon, Dr. Sujeela Kausar, Director of Seerat Chair, welcomed the guest speaker Allama Muhammad Raza Saqib Mustafai, Ameer of the International Movement of Nizam Mustafa, for visiting Islamia University, Bahawalpur, and on the invitation of Seerat Chair, as a guest speaker in the Seerat-ul-Nabi seminar. On attending thank you. He fully appreciated and thanked Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob for his special interest and support in all administrative stages.

Dr. Sajila Kausar highlighted the local and national level activities of Sirat Chair, eight international conferences, two national Sirat conferences, one national Quran conference, publication of dozens of Sirat books and articles on Sirat, many training workshops, students at tehsil and district level. And mentioned the endless series of Hasan-i-Qaraat, Hasan-i-Naat, and elocution competitions among female students.

The Sirat-ul-Nabi (PBUH) Seminar and the organization of ‘Kal Pakistan Inter-University Competitions’ is a testament to the performance of the Sirat Chair and is a link in this endless chain. Allama Muhammad Raza Saqib Mustafai, Ameer of the International Movement of Nizam Mustafa SA, “Social Problems of the Present Time and Their Solutions: In the Light of the Prophet’s Biography”. He gave an impressive talk on the topic.

He called his participation in the Seerat-ul-Nabi seminar organized by Sirat Chair Islamia University Bahawalpur, working under the shadow of historical and scientific pedagogy of the country, as a source of honour. He made the hadith of Hazrat Aisha Siddiqah (RA) related to the biography of the Prophet (PBUH) as the basis and described the Holy Qur’an as the main source of the biography of the Prophet (PBUH).

He called the instructions obtained from the Qur’an and Sunnah and the Prophet’s biography as the basis for solving social problems. Also, he gave full attention to Salah-e-Rahimi, caring for relatives, assisting the needy, and informing travellers.

As well as prophetic ethics; talking about truthfulness, trust, honesty, keeping one’s promises, forgiveness, forgiveness, courage, good behaviour and kindness, he said that taking the light of guidance from the Prophet Muhammad SAW and being blessed by it is the solution to all social problems. Finally, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq Ur Rehman, Dean Faculty of Islamic Learning delivered the presidential address on this occasion.

Prof. Dr. Basira Ambrin, Director Iqbal Academy Pakistan appreciated the activities related to Iqbal Day held in IUB

Bahawalpur, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):The academic and literary activities of the Department of Iqbal at, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur are commendable. This department is playing a prominent role among Pakistani universities in promoting Iqbal thought.

These views were expressed by Professor Dr. Basira Abnerin, Director of Iqbal Akademi Pakistan Lahore in the meeting of the Board of Studies. While appreciating the performance of the department, he praised and congratulated the department for the ten-day self-celebration celebrations. He described all the initiatives taken by the Department of Iqbaliyat as commendable.

He further said that for the promotion of Iqbaliyat, she will continue her academic and literary cooperation with the department. According to the details, the meeting of the Board of Studies of the Iqbaliyat Department, The Islamia University, Bahawalpur, was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Muhammad Rafiq ul Islam, Chairman of the Department.

Prof. Dr. Basira Anbarin participated online in the meeting as a subject expert. Dr. Muhammad in the meeting Asghar Syal, Prof. Mohammad Afzal Basra, Dr. Zeeshan Athar, Dr. Zahid Akhtar Shaheen, Dr. Soghara Rana, Saima Rafiq, Dr. Shehzad Akhtar Baig, Balqis Iqbal and Hafiz Utbanullah were included.

The participants of the meeting approved the topics for Ph.D. and MPhil. In the said meeting, internal and external experts were appointed through mutual consultation. Apart from this, suggestions from members on other matters of the sector are welcome.

Humanitarian Flood Relief and Assistance Campaign Phase III for Flood Affected Families 

Mardan, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Engineering and Technology took another humanitarian initiative through the Flood Relief Campaign (Phase III) to help flood-ridden people. Likewise, on 29th Oct. 2022, team members of the flood campaign UET Mardan went the flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to help them by providing some daily necessities like essential warm clothes, food items, pure drinking water, etc., to make sure they were able to survive in such a crisis.

The distribution drive provided relief to 27 families at Bahrain Swat district, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa under the kind supervision of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Khattak, Dr. Sajjad Ali, along with supporting staff and students of UET Mardan.

Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahid Khattak provided cash Rs. 405000, food packages, warm clothes and pure drinking water to 27 flood-affected families in Bahrain district Swat. Moreover, medical camp services were also provided by UET Mardan and treated many affected people in Bahrain district Swat.

Punjab University Library organizes introductory talks on books

Lahore, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Library Book Club organized introductory book talk program. The two books of the month were ‘Psychopolitics’ by Byung-Chul Han and an Oriental classic in Urdu Language ‘Kalila-wa-Dimna’.

Prof Dr Nasir Abbas Nayyer from Institute of Urdu Language and Literature talked on ‘Kalila-wa-Dimna’. He as a literary critic presented the historical and literary analysis of the oriental classic. He informed the audience about the literary and contextual importance of the book along with narrating extracts from the book for student’s interest.

Department of Philosophy Assistant Professor Dr Muhammad Rasheed Arshad introduced the book “Psychopolitics”. He in a philosophical yet simple and interesting manner presented the ideas discussed in the book.

He explained the triviality of modern narratives of human freedom in both personal and social contexts. Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani thanked the speakers and audience for their lively contribution to the program. A larger number students and faculty member were present on this occasion.

Bilingual poetry competition held during the student’s week 

Khairpur, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Bilingual Poetry Competition was held during the Students Week at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the Directorate of Students Affairs. A large number of students participated in the event. After competition, Syed Nasir Ali Shah, Ms. Kanwal Sindhi and Mr. Ghulam Rasool secured first, second and third positions respectively in Sindhi competition while Syed Ibtehaj Hyder Zaidi, Syed Ali Hyder Zaidi, Ms. Lareb Irfan Mughal and Mr. Nisar Hameed secured first, second and third positions respectively in Urdu competition.

Mr. Mir Sobdar Saeed, Mr. Khawand Dino Larik and Ms. Muneera Sajjad performed as judges of the competition. Prof. Dr. Masihullah Jatoi presided the event. He said there is great potential among the students regarding their poetic ideas. The purpose of this event aimed at to promote the sense of competition and to produce the talented youth so they could play their intellectual role in the society. Dr. Jatoi commended the efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmad Ibupoto for providing a viable platform to students to participate in the healthy and positive activities at the campus.

A large number of teachers and students attended the competition. Ms. Shahida Amir Chandio, Students Advisor (Girls) and Dr. Nazar Hussain Kalwar, Students Advisor (Boys) were the organizers of the event.

Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance organizes Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) conference 

Lahore, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance (HCBF) has organized Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) conference. Former Chief Justice Lahore High Court Mr Justice (r) Anwar-ul-Haq, former PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Dr Ahmad Ali Badat from Jamia Asharfia, Dr Farah Naz Naqvi, Principal HCBF Prof Dr Mubbassher Munawar Khan, faculty members, employees and students were present on the occasion.

In their address, the speakers emphasized the adoption of high moral values in our lives as instructed by our beloved Prophet (PBUH). They advised the students to learn to sacrifice for the deprived segments of society. Honourable Mr. Justice (R) Anwar ul Haq expressed his concern about the weakening of family structure. He advised practicing forgiveness to strengthen family bonds and commitments.

He said that overcoming anger and ego would save the relationship which was currently at stake. He said that our beloved Prophet (PBUH) pardoned his enemies and after pardoning them, the Prophet (PBUH) forgot their anguish. He said that social and cultural values flourish when society learns to forgive and forget. He said that once these spirits were infused, it would strengthen Muslim brotherhood and fraternity, which was the dire need for the renaissance of Ummah. Dr Mubbsher Munawar Khan illuminated the audience with the teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

He said that being a Muslim it was our duty to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) and try to adopt sincerity, humbleness and sincerity in our daily life without considering colour, caste or creed. He emphasized that we should approach Allah (SWT) with beautiful etiquettes, for Allah loves the one with good conduct. He said that one’s good character and behaviour were the reasons that take him closer to Allah Almighty. He prayed that may Allah Almighty gave us knowledge and strength to keep good relations with all mankind.
