“This will be a city-based league with players to be selected through a draft system involving international age-group cricketers. The PCB will create an environment of brilliance with legends and icons of the game sitting in player dug-outs in the roles of mentors and coaches, and broadcast coverage from the top draw.

“A young apprentice can be molded into a genius with right environment, which we intend to create in this format.

“The PJL integrates very nicely with the PCB Junior Pathways Programme in which the PCB, through strategic partnerships, have provided contracts to 100 best cricketers who will now receive coaching from foreign experts, education at five-star institutions and monthly stipends of PKR30K each.

“Initiatives like the PJL are all about creating opportunities for cricketers, identifying the talent, nurturing them into world-class players and closing the gap between domestic and international cricket.”

UK Universities collaborate with IECE on EV and Green Technologies

Lahore, April 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):In a whirlwind tour of London and Cambridge, Dr. Aazir Khan (Director of the Integrated Engineering Centre of Excellence) met some old research and development allies and developed new ones with which IECE is collaborating on developmental projects.

In the case of developing mechatronic robotic mechanisms, the IECE members have worked with Kings College London in Strand and Waterloo for modular hybrid electric vehicle architectures (a European FP7 project worth 2.3 million Euros). In a meeting with a colleague from Kings, Chin-Hsing Kuo (Senior lecturer, University of Wollongong), a mutual understanding has been achieved for the development of Modular structural systems for Hybrid and electric 3 and small 4-wheeled vehicles. This collaboration will start with joint work on journal papers, leading to Asian technology development funds between IECE-the University of Lahore, Kings College, and the University of Wollongong. Mr. Kuo will be part of a Master’s degree program in the future with IECE and UOL.

Furthermore, Nadeem Dar, at Imperial College, London, is developing AI-based connected technologies currently for SAAB. Mr. Dar visited UOL in 2019 where he developed strategies for UOL’s vehicle connectivity research, which will become a product of UOL’s green technologies being launched this year in 2022. Mr. Dar’s previous experience includes managing Nokia Testing Laboratories, Panasonic Konrad, and Surrey Satellite. Other than committing to giving a lecture series and being part of a Master’s program in chip programming, developing, and testing with IECE at UOL, Mr. Dar will be developing IECE Electric Vehicle regulation and standardization testing labs committed over the next two years at the UOL.

Additionally, the IECE Director and Associate Professor Dr. Nebil Achour, of the Anglia Ruskin University of Cambridge, Allied Health Department, have signed an MoU on collaboration in technology development for health monitoring devices that will be developed at UOL and tested under clinical trials at the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. The first proposal for hospital monitoring systems has been conceptualized and funding has been sought under the AR University of Cambridge network. Dr. Archour has also invited UOL to be part of the International Network: Fostering Innovative Resilience Healthcare Service (FIRHS).
