Lahore, January 09, 2018 (PPI-OT):Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the NAB Chairman was talking of speediest accountability but was not ready to do anything practical in this respect. Addressing the participants of the JI central workshop at Mansoora on Tuesday, he said that the Accountability Courts should conduct speedy trials and announce punishments so that the situation was clear.
Sirajul Haq said that the ousted Prime Minister was trying to make the courts a party so that whatever confidence the courts enjoyed among the people was also lost. He said the rulers were saying that the masses were not getting justice, the educational institutions were without education and the hospitals were without health facilities. However, he said, the rulers were not ready to admit that they themselves were responsible for poverty, illiteracy, injustice, lawlessness and unemployment.
He said if the parties who had been in power for three to four decades were talking of the problems of the masses, they must admit that they themselves were to be blamed for all this. The JI chief said that the government wanted to become a political martyr but this time, its desire might not be fulfilled. He said that the technocrats’ government was merely a presumption and was being talked about by the government circles from time to time with the desire to achieve martyrdom.
Continuing, Sirajul Haq said that the Election Commission would have to ensure electoral reforms before the 2018 elections and all those who had been named in the Panama leaks, those who had devoured huge bank loans or availed any NRO must not be allowed to contest the elections. He said that the path of the cheats and plunderers to the assemblies would have to be blocked in order to fair and free elections. He said that as long as the elections remained the game of the billionaires, an honest middle class man could not think of winning the election.
