A MoU was signed with the University of Cambridge UK for cooperation and collaboration in the field of archaeology 

Bahawalpur, November 24, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and University of Cambridge UK for cooperation and collaboration in the field of archaeology. In the signing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences, Dr. Samar Fahad Director Enabling Center member syndicate, Dr. Khalil Ahmed, Athar Lashari and Ashraf Khosa and Dr. Rebecca, Project Director from University of Cambridge UK.

Under the agreement, the two institutes will collaborate to preserve archeology and local heritage in South Asia and prepare digital maps. For this purpose, faculty members Muhammad Moazzam Khan Durrani and Muhammad Waqar Mushtaq will soon leave for Cambridge University.

Under the special patronage and supervision of Vice-Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is working on a major project to discover the remains of the 7,000-year-old Hakra Civilization in the Bahawalpur Desert of Cholistan. For this purpose, the Department of Archeology is collaborating with the Cambridge University, United Kingdom.

Some time ago, a team from Cambridge University visited the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and a plan was drawn up to explore the ruins of an ancient industrial city buried in Cholistan. The success of this project is expected to provide important information about the thousands of years old historical and cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent, especially Bahawalpur.
