52% Pakistanis support Supreme Court’s verdict on lifetime disqualification for dishonesty under Article 62: Survey

Islamabad, May 16, 2018 (PPI-OT): According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 1 in 2 Pakistanis (52%) support the Supreme Court’s verdict on lifetime disqualification for dishonesty under Article 62.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Some people support the Supreme Court’s verdict which states that anybody who is not honest, upright and truthful is disqualified for lifetime, while some others do not support it. Do you support it or not?” In response to this question, 52% said they support the verdict and 37% said do not support it. 11% did not know or wish to respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1581 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, April 16 – April 23, 2018. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
