49% Pakistanis believe that Shahbaz Sharif was arrested to undermine PML-N’s position in by-elections; 42% do not agree with this: Survey

Islamabad, November 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 49% Pakistanis believe that Shahbaz Sharif was arrested to undermine PML-N’s position in by-elections. 42% do not agree with this.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “How much do you agree or disagree with the following statement regarding Ashiana scandal case; Shahbaz Sharif was arrested to weaken PML-N’s position in by-elections?” In response to this question, 28% said completely agree, 21% said somewhat agree, 19% said disagree, 23% said completely disagree while 9% did not know or respond to the question.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1523 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, October 08 – October 15, 2018. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
