Jamshoro, September 15, 2020 (PPI-OT): SU Financial Aid Office (SFAO) organized a simple yet elegant cheque distribution ceremony in which 315 students from departments/institutes of Faculty of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, and Business Administration were awarded scholarship cheques, each worth rupees 40000 per year under PM’s need-cum-merit based Ehsas Program. SU Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro presided over the ceremony.
On the occasion, congratulating the cheque recipients Dr. Kalhoro said that the given financial aid will greatly benefit the awardees. “Majority students at SU belong to humble financial background families and thus cannot foot the cost of higher education. This award will immensely ease the monetary burden of their parents and guardians”, Dr. Kalhoro said.
Dr. Kalhoro said while he was in the chair as VC, he had established SFAO to facilitate HEC and other donor outfits to disburse aid to SU students and to standardize mechanism to this effect in the interest of fair play, transparency, merit, and justice. Dr. Kalhoro eulogized the efforts of SFAO, especially its Director Dr. Fiza Qureshi and Administration officer Qamaruddin Nangraj.
Dr. Fiza Qureshi thanked Dr. Kalhoro for his presence, support, and patronage. She informs that that currently, 14 scholarship programs were a-run at SFAO and that they had disbursed financial assistance to 16000 SU students amounting to Rs. 51 crores. PVCs, Focal Persons, Deans, Academic and Administrative Heads, Faculty officers, employees, and students in a large number were in attendance at the ceremony.
