24per cent Pakistanis recall seeing United States Agency for International Development’s advertisements about poverty, energy and education-related issues

Islamabad, August 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 24% Pakistanis recall seeing USAID advertisements about poverty, energy and education-related issues in Pakistan.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Kindly tell us if you have seen the USAID advertisements about poverty, energy and education-related issues in Pakistan being aired on TV nowadays?” Responding to this, 75% said no and 24% said yes. 1% did not respond.

Those who responded “yes” were further asked “What did you see in this ad?” Responding to this, 27% said a passion to eradicate illiteracy and poverty, 15% identified the construction of new dams and 9% saw Pakistan-US collaboration in building a more prosperous Pakistan whereas 28% identified other messages.

22% chose not to respond. Respondents were further asked “Did watching this advertisement influence your opinion about the US positively, negatively or leave it unchanged?” Responding to this, 49% said influenced positively, 16% said influenced negatively and 34% said their opinion was unchanged. 1% chose not to respond.
