Islamabad, June 11, 2018 (PPI-OT): According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gillani Pakistan, 22%Pakistanis favourably rate the latest budget unveiled for the fiscal year 2018-2019.
A nationally representative sample of men and women across the four provinces was asked, “Recently, the budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019 was announced. In your opinion, is the new budget good, bad or just average?” 22% respondents said that the budget announced was good, 39% said it was bad and 24% said it was average. 15% did not know or did not wish to respond.
The question has been asked in previous years. In 2016, only 12% respondents said that the budget was good, 55% said it was bad, and 27% said it was average. 6% did not know or did not wish to respond. The graph below shows the fluctuations in the public opinion since 2008.
It is interesting to note that 22% Pakistanis who rate the latest budget as good, is the highest favourable rating noted for a new budget in the past 10 years.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1607 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, April 30 – May 7, 2018. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
