BASEL, Switzerland, March 13, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The PharmaLedger Association™ (PLA), a not-for-profit based in Switzerland, announces the endorsement of its 3-year strategic plan to implement and promote a Digital Trust Ecosystem in healthcare (DTE-H) at its Annual General Meeting held in Lucerne, Switzerland on 1 March 2023. The member organizations also confirmed the appointment of eight Directors to its board, delivering on PLA’s core value of “Ecosystem Leadership.”

Representing the diversity of healthcare, PLA’s founding members comprise of large and small pharmaceutical companies, research organizations, patient representative organizations, non-profit organizations, technology, and healthcare service providers. PLA has confirmed its mandate as a pre-competition umbrella organization delivering common and interoperable digital solutions in the areas of Product TrustDecentralized Clinical Trials, and Supply Chain Traceability.

  • Products & Project: In Q1 2023, PLA will release the first qualified product, electronic Product Information for implementation by its members.
    In Q2 2023, the Association will continue with the development of new products in its innovation xLab, including of a product digital twin, decentralized identities, and verifiable credentials to facilitate visibility, security, traceability, and trust in all areas of healthcare.
  • Governance & Compliance: PLA will leverage its capability to develop, qualify, launch, and maintain products in healthcare’s highly regulated environment by ensuring continuous adherence to antitrust, intellectual property, data privacy, and Computerized System Assurance guidelines.
  • Ecosystem Engagement & Growth: The association will continue to onboard new members and engage with authorities, trade associations and standards development organizations, ensuring growth and financial viability.
  • Platform Technology & Security: PLA will focus on easing adoption of new solutions with its members and users while maintaining the cybersecurity benefits of its architecture.

The formation of PLA and the endorsement of its mission by diverse members of healthcare is a major milestone. This paves the way for delivery of widely trusted blockchain-based platforms with new open-source healthcare solutions to create value for patients and ecosystem stakeholders. Weeklong Spring Festival-2023 begins at UVAS

Lahore, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): 10th Spring Festival 2023 began at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore here on Monday. On the first day, different competitions of Azaan and Hifz ul Quran, Nutrimania, Crescent Fun Villa and Science Panther were arranged by the UVAS Senior Tutor Office.

In Hifzul Quran competition, Muhammad Waqar (Institute of Pharmaceutical Science), Hafiz Muhammad Shakir (Mphil Epidemology), Umama Iqbal (Human Nutrition and Dietetics), Ayshah Kanwel (Mphil Medicine) won the 1st positions in categories of Quran-e-Pak part (1-10) and (1-30). In Azaan competition, Hafiz Muhammad Shakir (Mphil Epidemology) won 1st position, Nouman Hameed (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) got 2nd position while Zain-ul-Abdin from (Institute of Pharmaceutical Science) stood on 3rd position.

Qari Abdul Ghaffar Daharvee, Qari Zeeshan Hanif Qadri and Qari Muhammad Umar were chief guests on the occasion and gave away shields to the Azaan and Hifz-ul-Quran contest winners while Principal Students Affair Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and Prof Dr Asim Aslam and number of students were present in the ceremony. Students from various departments participated in these competitions. Similar competition also held at other Campuses of UVAS.

NUMS-Department of Public Health-Orientation Session for BSPH-Fourth Batch: Session 2023-2027

Rawalpindi, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): NUMS Department of Public Health (NDPH) arranged orientation session for Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) program to welcome fourth batch of students, on February 20th, 2023. This year, an overwhelming response was observed for the program, which is evidence of our faculty hard work, commitment and dedication. With this program, Department of Public Health aims to create a health workforce, capable to generate health awareness and health promotion among the community by adopting an innovative and community- based learning approach.

The session was organized to provide a brief introduction of the University and the Department of Public Health. The session was attended by the students and the faculty members of Department of Public Health including Head of Department Professor Dr Uzma Hassan, Associate Professor Dr Tamkeen Jaffry, Assistant Professor Dr Hina Shan, Assistant Professor Dr Raima Asif and Lecturer Ms Rubab Zulfiqar. Prof. Dr. Aisha Mohyuddin, Dean Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, NUMS graced the occasion by her presence. She appreciated the efforts of DPH team, underscored the role of NUMS DPH faculty in imparting quality education, and wished a promising career in public health research and development.

Dr Raima Asif Assistant Professor Public Health moderated the session by introducing the students with the mission of NUMS followed by a welcome note from Professor Dr. Uzma Hassan Head of Department Public Health. She congratulated the students on their selection, highlighted the tremendous progress NUMS has made during the past five years and reiterated NUMS pledge to follows the spirit of scientific inquiry with the best of education and skill base training. She stressed the importance of public health in the development of a strong and resilient health system, underscored the role of faculty in imparting quality education, and wished them, a promising career in Public Health research and development.

The DPH faculty gave their brief introduction. Dr. Tamkeen Jaffry, Associate Professor Public Health briefed the students regarding academic and assessment policy of the program. The students of Batch II made short video highlighting the events, campaigns and overall outline of the BSPH program of NUMS. Testimonials representing students of all of the three batches of BSPH were also displayed during the ceremony. A little icebreaker activity to enlighten and entertain the students was presented by students of Batch I.

The students of new batch introduced themselves to the faculty members and to each other, briefly highlighting their interests in Public Health and reasons of joining NUMS. Students were provided the opportunity to ask questions from the HoD Public Health and faculty related to program and career perspective. Ms. Aqsa Arshad, Directorate of Digital Technologies, conducted a training session on the Learning Management System at Moodle. The Chair concluded the session with a note of thanks to the students, faculty members and the concerned staff. The students were provided refreshments followed by a tour of academic block by the senior batch BSPH focal persons. The academic session has been formally commenced from February 21st, 2023.

Punjab qualified for the Semi Final of National Women’s Baseball Championship by defeating Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Lahore, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): In the first match on the second day of the 17th National Women’s Baseball Championship organized by the Pakistan Federation Baseball, Punjab defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 17-9 and qualified for the semi-finals of the provincial round. For Punjab, Mubeena and Samia scored 3 runs each, Alishba, Nida, Khush Bakht and Muazama scored 2 runs each. For K.P Tehzeeb, Shawal and Faryal scored 2 runs each while Pura Ali, Nafeesa and Ayman scored 1 run each.

In the second match, Pakistan Army defeated the HEC team by 27 runs against 12 and qualified for the final. For Army team Attia scored 6 runs, Samina scored 4 runs, Humaira, Asia and Ansa scored 3 runs each, while Waheeda, Zahida, Rashida and Maida scored 2 runs each. For HEC team Tasmia, Mahnoor, Irum and Momina scored 2 runs each while Keefa, Minahil, Dua and Aleena scored 1 run each.

On the second day of the championship Col. Sadaf Akram, Manager Pakistan Army Team was the Chief Guest. Muhammad Jamil Kamran, Zubair Wattoo, Ghulam Hussain and Tariq Pasha were the umpires while Mr. Zohaib Malik was the scorer. HEC Coach Mr. Tariq Nadeem (Sonu) was congratulated on this occasion for preparing the HEC team with a great performance which gave the Pakistan Army team a hard time.

UVAS inks MoU with College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University of Korea for academic and scientific cooperation

Lahore, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore signed a memorandum of understanding with College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University Republic of Korea for academic and scientific cooperation to conduct scientific and academic exchange through collaboration.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad (SI) and Prof Dr Joon-Seok Chae from College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University Republic of Korea signed a MoU in a ceremony held at City Campus. Earlier, Prof Dr Joon-Seok Chae visited various department and lab of UVAS City campus including Anatomy and Histology, Biosafety level-3 lab, Meat Science and Technology, Pet Centre, Quality Operation Lab and Outdoor Hospital etc and he reviewed UVAS treatment and disease diagnostics facilities for animals.

Under the MoU, both parties will exchange of faculty for research, imparting scientific knowledge and other collaborative activities. They will exchange their faculty member to participate in conferences, symposium, workshops and seminars. They will start jointly research projects on mutual interest related to ticks and tick-borne diseases, especially for collecting and providing samples of such ticks and blood from host animals and share result with each other.

Headstart provides female entrepreneurs a platform

Karachi, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): Young female entrepreneurs were provided a platform to showcase their products during a spring festival held at a local school. The event was organized by Headstart School, Gulmohar Campus in which a large number of students, their parents, teachers, and female entrepreneurs participated. The exhibition gives women an opportunity to display their products and it also helped the new entrepreneurs in boosting their businesses. Dazzling décor and pleasant wind served up a relaxed festival feels on the day along with live music and a variety of delectable food.

A mix of local and international food vendors continued serving the most palatable street food to assuage our taste buds. Participants took great interest in the Art n’ Craft stall, which sold beautiful handmade jewellery and ingenious tile art, designed by students. Aiming to help small businesses, lots of talented artisans shared their goods, made profits, and introduced themselves to the local market.

Students eagerly wandered through stalls with their friends and families while teens flocked to amusement rides to enjoy the scenic view of the capital from above in the Ferris wheel. At the occasion, the Principal of the Headstart School, Gulmohar Campus, Lubna Fareed said that in today’s economic climate, when many entrepreneurs are struggling to stay afloat, it’s paramount to support our females trying to find their niche.

We have collaborated with small businesses, offered them this platform to support them in their growth, and help the community, she added. Women entrepreneurs thanked the school for providing them an opportunity and said that women entrepreneurs make significant contributions to economic growth and poverty reduction, creating new jobs for themselves and others.
