Arrangements of Run Lahore Run Marathon, tour de Lahore Cycle Race, Wheel Chair Race and Family Fun Race finalised

Lahore, March 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi in a statement on Saturday said that the arrangements of Jashan-e-Baharan events – Run Lahore Run Marathon, tour de Lahore Cycle Race, Wheel Chair Race and Family Fun Race have been given final shape. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said these events will be organised as part of Jashan-e-Baharan celebrations on March 12, 2023 under the banner of Sports Board Punjab (SBP). “Tour de Lahore Cycle Race for professional runners will start at 7.00am while Pink Race for female runners will kick off at 7.15am at Liberty Chowk whereas the beginning time of Run Lahore Run Marathon is 7.30am”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi informed that Family Fun Race for male sprinters will commence at 9.45am while the female runners will begin their journey at 10.00am whereas the Wheelchair Race will start at 10.20am. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi announced that a total cash prize of Rs over 42,00,000 will be given to participants of Run Lahore Run Marathon, Tour de Lahore Cycle Race, Wheel Chair Race and Family Fun Race. “A cash prize of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the winner of Run Lahore Run Marathon while the prizes of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh will be awarded to second and third position holders. The cash prizes of Rs 4 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs one lakh will be given to the top three position holders respectively in the Tour de Lahore Cycle Race,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that the top three position holders of 5km Cycle Race and Family Fun Race will be given Rs 50,000, 35,000 and 25,000 respectively. “Similarly, a cash prize of Rs one lakh, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 will be awarded to top three position holders of Wheelchair Race”. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi informed that the Run Lahore Run Marathon Race and Tour de Lahore Cycle Race will be of 42-km distance while the Family Fun Race and Wheelchair Race will be run for five and one kilometers distance respectively.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that Run Lahore Run Marathon and Tour de Lahore Cycle Race will start from Liberty Chowk while the participants of Run Lahore Run Marathon and Tour de Lahore Cycle Race will reach their destination after passing through several historical places of the city.

Dr Mehta assumes charge as Principal HCBF

Lahore, March 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad was pleased to congratulate Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta, Associate Professor at Hailey College of Banking and Finance (HCBF) upon taking charge as Principal, HCBF. Dr Mehta earned his Post Doctorate fellowship as well as his PhD from Turkiye in Strategic and Innovation Management. Dr Mehta carries a vast international exposure to his credit in academia and research. Khushdil Shah charged for code of conduct violation

Lahore, March 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Multan Sultans’ Khushdil Shah has been fined 10 per cent of match fee for a level 1 breach of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during his side’s match against Peshawar Zalmi at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Khushdil was charged for violating Article 2.4 that reads as, “Disobeying an umpire’s instruction during the match”. The incident took place in the 15th over of Multan Sultans’ batting, when Khushdil, twice in the over asked umpires to check the ball.

Since Khushdil pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Muhammad Javed, there was no need of a formal hearing.

The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Martin Saggers.

17th National Women’s Baseball Championship 2023 begins in Islamabad

Lahore, March 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): The 17th edition of National Women’s Baseball Championship begins in Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. The event will be held from March 12 – 15, 2023. Teams from Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad, Army, WAPDA and HEC are participating in the event. Sheikh Mazhar Ahmad Secretary General PFB while talking with media told that Syed Fakhar Ali Shah President PFB was the Chief Guest and Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Cheema General Manager Bahria Town Sports was the Guest of Honour on the Opening Ceremony of the Championship. MR. Tahir Mehmood Treasurer PFB, Mr. Jamil Kamran, Mr.

Tariq Nadeem and Miss Ayesha Irum Member at Large PFB along-with other officials welcome the honourable guests. After the National Anthem, the Chief Guest was introduced with the players and officials. Chief Guest pitch the ball to open the championship. Syed Fakhar Ali Shah while formally opening the championship said that there is a wide talent of baseball in Pakistan. The purpose of organizing this championship is to prepare the players for the best game in the future. He informed that during the championship talented players will be selected for the National Training Camp of Pakistan Women’s Baseball Team for the participation in 3rd Asian Women’s Baseball Championship 2023 Hong Kong.

Therefore, the players should present their best game. He further said that keeping the weather and other things in mind, the reserve day of March 16 has been kept. The first match of the event was played between Islamabad and Baluchistan. Islamabad defeated Baluchistan with a score of 9 – 4. For Islamabad Shazia scored 2 runs while Chaman, Gul Pari, Shameer, Anum, Anum Malik, Suman and Hina contributed with 1 run each. While for Baluchistan, Farzana, Nargis, Nayab and Farzana Ali score 1 run each.

The second match was played between K.P and Sindh. K.P defeated Sindh with a score of 9 – 2. For K.P Asia scored 2 runs while Shawal, Faryal, Purkha, Nafisa, Sidra Amin and Tehzeeb contributed with 1 run each. While for Sindh, Kainat and Tulsi score 1 run each. The third match was played between K.P and Islamabad. K.P defeated Islamabad by 19 – 9. For K.P Asia, Shawal and Faryal score 3 runs each while Parkha, Nafeesa, Sumbal, Sidra and Rameen contributed with 2 runs each. For Islamabad Shazia score 3 runs, Chaman and Anum Naseeb score 2 runs each while Gul Pari and Shameer score 1 run each.

Department of Chemistry Islamia University Bahawalpur Open Defense of PhD Scholar Warda Shahid’s Research Thesis on Monday, March 13, 2023, 10 a.m. will be held at the Institute of Chemistry, Baghdad Al-Jadeed Campus, and Islamia University, Bahawalpur.
