Virtual University, University of Turbat organize stipend disbursement ceremony under IGNITE funded project DSTSP

Turbat, January 30, 2023 (PPI-OT):A stipend distribution ceremony was organized by Virtual University (VU) of Pakistan and the University of Turbat (UoT) at the Faculty of Legal Education, the University of Turbat here on 28th January 2023 for the successful trainees in various digital skills under the IGNITE-funded Project entitled “Digital Skills Training and Support Program for Southern Balochistan” under the patronage of Ministry of IT and Telecommunication.

Mr. Sadiq Iftikhar, State Minister for IT and Telecom was the Chief Guest of the event, while Ex-Chief Minister of Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch and Advisor to CM Baluchistan Mr. Lala Rasheed Dashti graced the ceremony as guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, the state minister said “I am proud to see so dedicated people towards learning and education in this region. I am happy to know that Makran Division stands at eighth position in literacy in Pakistan while Turbat stands at first in Balochistan”.

He emphasized the need for taking joint efforts for the promotion of IT education in this part of the country. State Minister urged the importance of digital skills and the role of the IT ministry. He appreciated the IGNITE, Virtual University, University of Turbat, University of Gwadar, and BUET Khuzdar on the successful execution of the project in Balochistan.

In his welcome speech, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, VC UoT acknowledged the role of Virtual University, Ignite, and the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication in enhancing IT facilities in Southern Balochistan. He requested the federal and provincial governments to pay special attention to this underdeveloped and far-flung region of the country in order to raise the life standard of the people.

He hoped that collaborative initiatives between Turbat University, Virtual University, and Ignite will greatly benefit the youth of Southern Balochistan. He said the youth of this region possesses a lot of potential and it is necessary to provide them with opportunities to showcase their talents at national and international levels.

Vice Chancellor emphasized to connect this region via fiber optic. He said that they had enhanced internet bandwidth from 90 MB to 350 MB at Turbat University. Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Lala Rasheed Dashti said that no nation can develop and prosper without knowledge and technical education. He assured his full support in enhancing the skills of the youth of this region.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Javed Registrar VU briefed about the Project and its outcome. He also asked the local administration to provide an unutilized building to set up the regional campus of the Virtual University at Turbat, while other expenses will be met by the Virtual University. IGNITE representative also highlighted their role in various projects in Balochistan.

The ceremony was also attended by Justice (R) Shakeel Ahmed Baloch, UoT’s PVC, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, Dean Faculty of Legal Education, Dr. Gul Hassan, PVC Gwadar University Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Registrar Gwadar University Dr. Daulat Khan, Deans, Directors, members of Bar Council, Journalists, trainers and trainees of the program, senior faculty of the university of Turbat and other dignitaries of Kech district.

Lecture on Sustainable Textile Product Design 

Faisalabad, January 30, 2023 (PPI-OT):A lecture on “Sustainable Textile Product Design” was conducted by Ms. Arooba Mumtaz at The Millennium Universal College on 25 January 23. In the lecture, she discussed various topics from industrial waste to fast fashion under the lens of sustainable practices for our upcoming generations. She also shared some ideas for sustainable product design.

The lecture was followed by a workshop in which she taught TMUC students about the techniques of textile surface creation by utilizing waste materials. Students’ work (of School of Arts and Design) based on surface creation techniques were also shown to TMUC students as a reference which was much appreciated by the viewers.

Elements involved in Peshawar police lines mosque are enemies of humanity: Ch Parvez Elahi

Lahore, January 30, 2023 (PPI-OT):Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan and former PA Speaker Afzal Sahi called on former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi here today (Monday). During the meeting, consultation was held regarding national political situation. The explosion in Peshawar Police Lines mosque was strongly condemned.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that elements involved in the incident are enemies of humanity, law and order situation is deteriorating after the caretaker government came in, focus of the caretaker government is not on law and order and peoples issues but rather vengeful activities, caretaker government is only busy in crushing political opponents.

Expressing concern over delay till now in the announcement of election date in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that the caretaker set up and the governors forgetting their constitutional responsibilities are pursuing some other agenda, caretaker set up by crossing their mandate is committing unconstitutional and illegal measures, caretaker set up is doing every such work which is not its mandate, caretaker set up and PDM have no respite from retaliatory cases and arrests.

Ch Parvez Elahi further said that PDM is responsible for economic devastation, those claiming to control dollar have pushed the dollar on the highest level of the history in their tenure, Shehbaz Sharif is establishing world records of incompetency, PDM is celebrating return of Maryam Nawaz by hiking petrol price to Rs 250 per litre, the rulers should refrain from postponing the elections, they will have to account for their violating the Constitution.

Rulers are running away from elections, we will not let them run away, Insha-Allah: Imran Khan, Ch Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, January 30, 2023 (PPI-OT):Former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi met Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan. In the meeting, the political situation, the future course of action were discussed. Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi, renowned jurist Salman Akram Raja and Hafiz Farhat Abbas were also present in the meeting. Imran Khan and Ch Parvez Elahi expressed concern over the governors not giving the date of the election.

Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan said that the constitution binds the supervisory setup, governors and the election commission to hold elections in 90 days, whoever commits violation of the constitution, there is a way against it in the constitution, the rulers are running away from elections, we will not let them escape, Insha-Allah.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that the federal ministers and the figures of the care taker setup are giving signs of unconstitutional declaration. Delaying the election will violate the constitution, action can be taken under Article 6, and the people have to bear the punishment of the incompetence of the rulers. The rulers took relief in their cases but they have no relief for the people, every day the inflation bomb is being dropped on the people, the increase in the prices of petroleum products is cruel.

PPPP invites applications for Party tickets for National Assembly by-elections

Karachi, January 30, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians has invited applications from the aspirants of Party tickets for by-elections on National Assembly seats by 3 February 2023. According to a press communiqué issued by the Secretary General PPPP, Farhat ullah Babar the application should be addressed to the President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians. A bank draft of Rs. 40,000 against the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians should also be attached with the application.

The aspirants from Sindh and Balochistan should send their applications to the Bilawal House Karachi and aspirants from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab should send their applications to Zardari House Islamabad. The address of Zardari House Islamabad is House number 8, Street 19, Sector F-8/2, Islamabad.
