اس سمٹ کا مقصد ایشیائی ممالک کی حکومتوں، اداروں، تحقیقی اداروں اور متعلقہ فریقین کی کوششوں کو بھرپور انداز میں پیش کرنا ہے، جس کا مقصد گرین گروتھ ماڈل کے قیام، کاربن کے اخراج میں کمی کے اہداف، اسمارٹ انرجی ڈیولپمنٹ اور گرین ٹیکنالوجی تعاون جیسے اہم امور پر مشترکہ بات چیت کے لیے دوستانہ مشاورت، تبادلے اور مکالمے کے لیے ایک پلیٹ فارم تیار کرنا ہے تاکہ سبز صنعتوں میں متنوع تعاون کو گہرا کرنے اور جاری رکھنے میں اتفاق رائے تک پہنچا جا سکے۔ منظم گرین انرجی گورننس  کی کامیابیوں کو مستحکم کرنے کے لئے، مشترکہ ڈیسٹنی کے ایشیا بحر الکاہل کمیونٹی کی مشترکہ تعمیر میں مزید تعاون کریں۔

گول میز سمٹ کے ایک اہم نتیجے کے طور پر ، قازقستان ، ترکی ، کمبوڈیا ، چین اور دیگر ممالک اور خطوں کے تقریبا 30 نمائندوں نے گرین اور کم کاربن سیارے کی تعمیر: ایشیا گرین اور لو کاربن ڈویلپمنٹ انیشی ایٹو پر دستخط کیے اور جاری کیے ، جو ایشیائی ممالک سے مطالبہ کرتا ہے کہ وہ اتفاق رائے پیدا کریں اور عالمی توانائی کے نظام کو تبدیل کرنے جیسے شعبوں میں تعاون کو گہرا کریں ۔ صاف توانائی کی ٹیکنالوجیوں کا اشتراک اور تبادلہ ، اور صفر کاربن تکنیکی حل تخلیق کرنا ، انسانی تہذیب کو مزید آگے بڑھانے اور ان کے معاشی اور معاشرتی ترقی کے طریقوں کو سبز اور کم کاربن والے میں تبدیل کرنے اور مشترکہ طور پر “سبز اور کم کاربن سیارہ” بناتے ہیں۔

Event Report: The ICPC Asia West Continent Finals 2021

Swabi, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):For the first time in the history of the Asia West continent, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) and ICPC Asia Topi, Pakistan, took the lead to organize the ICPC Asia West Continent Finals which was a multi-site contest organized in parallel at three different international sites including Bangladesh (Dhaka), India (Gwalior-Pune) and Pakistan (Topi).

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a team-based, programming competition that fosters problem-solving, programming and teamwork skills amongst university students around the globe. It is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious algorithmic programming contest known as the “World Cup of Computing” where the best brains compete annually. ICPC involves a network of dozens of universities hosting regional competitions.

Participation in regionals has grown to thousands of the finest students in computing disciplines at over 3,322+ universities from over 115 countries in six continents. The winner team of regionals qualifies for ICPC World Finals to compete with the best teams of the world.

The ICPC Asia West Continent Finals is for countries of the Asia West continent including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran and others. The contest was organized from 23-25th December, 2022 at GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, the other two sites being at India and Bangladesh. The contest was conducted over a period of two days, such that a mock round was conducted on 23rd December, 2022 and the actual contest was held on 24th December, 2022.

The Inaugural Session of “The 2021 ICPC Asia West Continent Finals” was held at India after the two hour long mock round of the contest. A question and answers session was conducted where the participants interacted with System Group and Judges about the Contest Environment and Rules. Pakistan and Bangladesh regional sites joined the session online through zoom.

A total of 67 teams from Pakistan, India, Iran, Bangladesh and Afghanistan were shortlisted for the contest while 58 could finally make it to contest. Four teams appeared in the contest from the ICPC Asia Topi Regional site, three of the teams being from Pakistan while one international team from Kateb University, Afghanistan was invited too. Teams from GIK Institute, FAST-NUCES Karachi and FAST-NUCES Islamabad represented Pakistan in the contest.

The first prize in the final contest was bagged by University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The second prize was won by Indian Institute of Technology – Madras, India while Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology won the third prize. Team Pentateuch from GIK Institute and Team Trojans 1 from FAST_NUCES Karachi performed reasonably well solving multiple problems.

ICPC Asia Topi appreciates the relentless efforts of its core team Dr. Masroor Hussain, Director ICPC Asia Topi, Sarah Sajjad, Deputy Regional Contest Director, Ali Shaukat, Marketing Chair, Usman Haider, Systems Co-chair and the lab assistants Imad Khan, Imad Anjum for playing key role in organizing the contest.

NTU Community Services Society- Assistance to Jhuggi Model School 

Faisalabad, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):NTU Community Services Society is being headed by Dr. Muhammad Shahzad Iqbal, (Program Director BBA, Faisalabad Business School) has arranged a fund raising camp for Pakistan’s Jhuggi Taleemi Project in University Premises on November 23, 2022.

All students and faculty warmly contributed. NTU NCS contributed with Al-Ghais Foundation for Pakistan’s Jhuggi Taleemi Project that recognizing the need of educating the nomadic people, devised a novel plan to teach them in their settlements through establishing the schools.

These schools are administered with assistance from the civic society and the business community. To date, twenty-four schools have been built in various districts around the country. Only in Faisalabad maybe there are more than twenty settlements inside the municipal cooperation borders.

Mubasher Hussain Chand (Chairman JTP), Dr. Muzammil Hussain and Ms Nadia Shamim (National Textile University), voiced their sentiments while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Jhuggi Model School (Dr. AQ Khan Campus on Jhang Road). The Community Service Society and faculty members of National Textile University also presented donations for stationery and other supplies to the administration of Jhuggi Education Project.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre’s training course at IIUI postponed 

Islamabad, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):A meeting between the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center – Pakistan office and a special committee of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was held here at the council hall of university. During the meeting, it was agreed that the training in the various fields for the IIUI students would be postponed due to certain reasons and it was also decided that the training shall be rescheduled after the final term examinations.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Samina Malik, Vice President female campus. The Saudi delegation that participated in the meeting was headed by Ms. Ayesha who introduced her team and its expertise in the various fields. The delegation apprised that the experts would be offering training in electrical installation course, mobile phone maintenance course, first aid course and ceramic pottery course. Both sides discussed importance of the course agreeing that it would add more value to the skilled based professional learning of the students.

Prof. Dr. Samina welcomed the delegation while adding that the university is happy and thankful to have the cooperation of the Saudi Government. She said the university’s dedicated teams would be among the leading ranks in hospitality and other allied arrangements whenever the course commences after announcement of new date. The delegation members thanked IIUI management for the hospitality.

On the occasion, the chair also hailed the efforts and contributions of the team that made the recent extravaganza event successful. She said the event was a great source of university’s image building that ultimately resulted in the surge in recent spring admission. The present members of the IIUI Committee including Provost Male, Students Advisors male and female, officials of the Protocol and Public relations office, senior directors and other relevant staff also appreciated the team work and vowed that, like extravaganza, every event shall be managed with same zeal and zest.

IIUI extends Last Date of Admission till January 02 

Islamabad, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has extended the last date to apply for admission in more than 100 programs of its 11 faculties till Monday, 2nd of the January, 2023.

The university administration made this decision keeping in view the interest and requests of applicants to extend the date. The university has offered admissions in BS, MS and PhD programs of 11 faculties including Social Sciences, Basic and Applied Sciences, Management Sciences, International institute for Islamic Economics, Arabic, Usuluddin, Languages and Literature, Engineering and Technology and Shariah and Law, Faculty of Computing and Faculty of Education.

Punjab University HCBF launches MPhil, PhD programs 

Lahore, December 26, 2022 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance has launched its M Phil and PhD programs in Business Management after approval of HEC Islamabad. In an inaugural ceremony held at the college’s greens, Principal Prof. Dr. Mubbsher Munawar Khan briefed upon the steps taken to strengthen research segment in academic profile of the college.

He said that it was his desire that the curriculum matrix of HCBF should include the superior qualifications thus adding to the academic stature of the institution. He was optimistic that with industrial linkages, the research activities at HCBF would lead not only to creation of knowledge but would also provide industry to align its business strategies to combat threats and challenges.

He advised the scholars enrolled in PhD program to focus their attention to their specific areas of concentration from the day one so that they are able to be productive and accomplish their objectives in the given time frame. He assured all support and facilitate in this regard. The session was also addressed by Prof Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik, Director General PU Gujranwala Campus Prof Dr Muhammad Naveed, Prof Dr Salman Razavi, Prof Dr Liaquat Ali and Prof Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad.

They congratulated Prof Dr Mubbsher Munawar Khan and his team in successfully accomplishing HEC approval to their new academic programs. They advised the scholars to focus on operational aspects so that practical solutions were offered to the ailing economy and business. They stressed upon the need of continuous and rigorous hard work to be the exemplary research scholar in academic fraternity.

Newly admitted scholars extended their felicitations to their academic institution and the academic team led by Prof Dr Khan for paving the way to accomplish superior qualification thus adding to their intellect, skills and attitude.
