Project Management Unit (PMU)-HEC Visit 

Lahore, December 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Office of Registrar arranged the visit of the officials from the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Higher Education Commission to the University of Central Punjab, Lahore on 17 Nov 2022. The representatives from the HEC, Mr. Ehsan Iftikhar, Project Manager and Mr. Atif Anwar, Project Manager, conducted an awareness session with Faculty and Students regarding “PhD Scholarships under the US – Pak Knowledge Corridor program”.

The representatives also highlighted the GRE (General) Training from HEC for PhD aspirants under the “Talent Farming Program”. The audience received the session well and observed the active participation of faculty and students during the Q and A session.

BoS meetings of N and BS Department and Zoology program 

Turbat, December 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):The third meeting of the Board of Studies (BoS) of the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, University of Turbat (UoT) was held at the Vice-Chancellor Secretariat of UoT. Dr. Jahangir Khan, Chairperson, Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, UoT chaired the meeting. In his opening remarks, he cordially welcomed the external experts, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anwar Panezai, Director, Institute of Biochemistry, University of Balochistan, and other members of the meeting.

Dr. Muhammad Anwar Panezai lauded the efforts of UoT’s faculty members and administrative staff under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad in bringing the University of Turbat to par with the prominent universities of Pakistan in a short time.

Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman, Dean Faculty of Science and Engineering, Dr. Niamatullah Kakar and Dr. Amir Zeb, Assistant Professor, Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, UoT, Dr. Wahid Bakhsh, and Anwar Ali, Assistant Professor, Govt. Atta Shad Degree College, Turbat, Ms. Zainab, Lecturer, Govt. Degree Girls College, Turbat, while Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell, University of Turbat attended the meeting as a non-voting member.

The meeting discussed and reviewed the courses and syllabus of BS Biochemistry, BS Biotechnology, and BS Botany. Besides, the incorporation of new BS courses according to the HEC-approved curriculum, the forum also granted approval to add course codes for each individual course and reshuffle the semester-wise course distribution.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Jahangir Khan extended his gratitude to the Honorable members for attending the meeting and presenting valuable suggestions for the further development of the Natural and Basic Sciences Department.

Dr. Jahangir Khan, Chairperson, Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, UoT chaired the meeting. Dr. Shahabuddin Kakar, Associate Professor, and Dr. Saeed Ahmed Essote, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Balochistan, Quetta attended the meeting as external experts.

Ms. Gul Afroz, Assistant Professor, Head of the Zoology Department, Ms. Aziza Aman, Lecturer, and Ms. Mehtab Ibrahim, Lecturer of, the Zoology Department, Government Girls Degree College, and Turbat participated as members of the board, while Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director, QEC attended as a non-voting member of the meeting.

The meeting discussed and reviewed the courses and syllabus of the BS Zoology program of the affiliated Colleges of the University of Turbat. The forum approved Course Titles/Course Codes, Course Contents/Outlines and Development, and Semester Wise course distribution including Compulsory, General, Foundation, Major and Elective Courses.

Two Days Hands on Training Workshop on Mushroom Farming on Commercial Scale organized by Department of Microbiology and Department of Food Science and Technology

Haripur, December 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):A two Day Workshop on “Mushrooms Farming at Commercial Scale” was organized by Department of Microbiology in collaboration with Department of Food Science and Technology, The University of Haripur UoH on 15-16th December. 2022. The Workshop was aimed at educating the students and participants on technology related to mushroom farming and cultivation as well as developing entrepreneurship in mushroom cultivation.

The hands on training will help in developing skills of university students and participants that can be useful for livelihood of local community. Fifty participants including university students, faculty members from other departments and local farmers from Abbottabad and Galiyat also received the hands on training.

The resource persons Mr. Muhammad Zeeshan and Mr. Tahir Naveed Farooq explained theoretical and practical aspects of edible mushrooms culturing. They explained composting, spawning, casing, pinning, and cropping. Chairman Department of Microbiology Dr. Syed Muhammad Ali thanked the resource persons Mr. Muhammad Zeeshan and Mr. Tahir Naveed Farooq.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shafique Ur Rehman appreciated efforts of the Focal Person for the Workshop Dr. Sadia Alam, Associate Professor and all faculty members from Department of Microbiology for successfully conducting the workshop. Vice Chancellor, UoH distributed certificates among organizers and participants.

Opening Ceremony of Intra-Departmental Sports Department of Textile Engineering (Textile Processing) School of Engineering and Technology

Faisalabad, December 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):The opening ceremony of Intra-Departmental sports, Department of Textile Engineering (Textile Processing) School of Engineering and Technology was held in the cricket ground of National Textile University on December 19, 2022. Dr. Amjid Javid (Coordinator Dept. of Textile Processing) inaugurated the event. Dr. Sharjeel Abid (Assistant Professor), Dr. Usman Zubair (Assistant Professor), Mr. Allah dad khan (Lab Engineer), Dr. Abdur Rehman (Associate Professor/Sports Coordinator Department Textile Engineering -Textile Processing) and Mr. Imran Ali (Sports Officer) were also present at the event.

Proud Moment for NTU! 

Faisalabad, December 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Congratulations to the dedicated team of NTU including all schools and students’ societies SDG, community service and especially Faisalabad Business School. National Textile University has won the Prime Minister’s Heroes Award for volunteerism, community and flood efforts. Around fifty HEIs were awarded for this effort.

NTU received an award among all public-private HEIs. Mr Muhammad Umer Ashfaq President 22-23 of student’s society along with Ms Nadia Shamim Asst. Director Students Affairs received the award on behalf of NTU from Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Ms Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Chairman HEC Pakistan Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed along other PM office representatives and Diplomatic dignitaries on 5th December 2022 in a special ceremony organized by Milker in collaboration with Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and Higher Education Commission.

Meeting -Faisalabad Business School, NTU and ShanDong Technology and Business University 

Faisalabad, December 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):A meeting between Faisalabad Business School, NTU and Shan Dong Technology and Business University was held on 26-10-2022. The goal of this meeting was to discuss the possible ways of collaboration for research projects, faculty exchange program, and students’ scholarships.

Dr Muhammad Hashim gave a presentation about the National Textile University programs and achievements. Professor Dr Songlin Tong and his team appreciated the NTU achievements and agreed to sign a MoU for future collaboration. The following team members were present in the meeting.
