5th BoS meeting of Management Sciences Department 

Turbat, December 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):The fifth meeting of the Board of Studies (BoS), Department of Management Sciences, University of Turbat (UoT) was held on 15th December 2022 at the Video Conference Room of UoT. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Shahzad Khalil Chairperson, Department of Management Sciences UoT.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shujaat Mubarik, CBM, IOBM Karachi, and Dr. Farhan Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Management Sciences NED, Karachi, attended the meeting as expert members of BoS. While Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Dean of Academics, Dr. Waseem Barkat, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Economics and Business Administration, Dr. Mohammad Tahir, Mr. Siraj Ahmed, and Mr. Badal Khan, faculty members of the Management Sciences Department and Mr. Abdul Majid Nasir, Department of Commerce, and Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director QEC also attended the meeting.

The revised curriculum of BBA and MS in Business Administration was the main agenda of the BoS meeting. The expert members appreciated the efforts of the Department of Management Sciences in preparing a curriculum according to HEC guidelines and also presented constructive suggestions for the further improvement of the curriculum. In closing remarks, the convener of BoS, Mr. Shahzad Khalil thanked the participants of the meeting for their presence.

Turbat University extends admission date of MPhil/MS and Ph.D. programs till 6th January 2023 

Turbat, December 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):The last date for submission of admission forms for spring 2023 in MPhil/MS and Ph.D. programs at the University of Turbat has been extended till 6th January 2023. This is learned from a notification issued by the Registrar’s Office, University of Turbat here on Saturday. According to the details, the aspirant candidates can submit their application forms up to 6th January 2023 for admission in various postgraduate programs including Ph.D. in Balochi and Biochemistry, and MPhil/MS in Balochi, Biochemistry, Chemistry and Business Administration at Turbat University

Alumni Office Organizes Seminar on Digital Entrepreneurship 

Islamabad, December 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Alumni Office at International Islamic University, IIUI arranged a seminar titled “Digital Entrepreneurship” in the Council Hall of Administration Block. Mr. Arshad Mahmood Akif, Director and CEO of ASK Development, a successful entrepreneur, was the seminar’s resource person. The purpose of the seminar was to raise students’ understanding of the trends and problems of digital entrepreneurship in Pakistan and throughout the world, as well as to teach them vital strategies on “How to Become an Entrepreneur.”

Mr. Arshad Mahmood Akif, the speaker, greeted students for the session, shared his experience and addressed the entrepreneur’s abilities to create and organize limited resources, take the initiative, and deal with uncertainty to succeed. While talking about Entrepreneurship, he explained it is more of mind set and innovation; the way forward to be developed as a nation and prosperous is to be an Entrepreneur. Digital entrepreneurs have transformed the world. The scope and pace of digitization are fundamentally altering enterprises; new digital firms produce a lot more value than conventional ones. Finally, the speaker shared some success stories of leading entrepreneurs and their achievements. The experience of the resource person in developing the ASK development was highly beneficial to the students for their future professional endeavor.

During the one-and-a-half hour session, students from different programmes and majors interacted with the guest speaker to learn more about digital entrepreneurship resources and processes involved in designing and implementing the business idea. The speaker encouraged students to explore and develop their business startup ideas. Mr. Arshad guided the students in online business management and encouraged them to hone their skills. A fruitful question and answer session was held at the end to address students’ fears of market conditions and misconceptions about digital entrepreneurship.

Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Student Advisor, Female Campus, IIUI, briefed the guests from ASK development about university and different programmes and acknowledged the seminar’s importance. In-Charge Alumni Office of IIUI, Dr. Sonia Irum thanked Mr. Arshad Mahmood, the resource person of the seminar for sharing valuable experiences about successful entrepreneurship and key factors for a successful entrepreneur. On this occasion, Dr. Sonia also thanked participants who hailed from the Faculty of Management Sciences, Department of Media and Communication, Department of Computer Sciences, and Department of Software Engineering of the university.

IIUI and ASK Development Signs Memorandum of Understanding 

Islamabad, December 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):Alumni Office of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and ASK Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the Training and Development and to collaborate to enable and facilitate students for professional and practical life. The (MoU) signing ceremony was held here in the Council Hall of Administration Block, at International Islamic University Islamabad. Prof. Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President (Academics) and Mr. Arshad Mahmood Akif, CEO of ASK Development signed the (MoU). Dr. Sonia Irum, in charge Alumni Office and officials of the ASK Development joined the ceremony.

This collaboration between the International Islamic University Islamabad and ASK Development underscores the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation by reducing the gap between academia, industry, and the youth, as well as enhancing the soft skills (soft, technical) and potential of the youth. During the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ayaz Afsar hoped that the collaboration with ASK Development would play a significant role in the well-being of fresh graduates (alumni) and society overall, to play its part in the development of the country.

Punjab University Library Book Club Talks – December 2022 

Lahore, December 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):The December program of the Punjab University Library Book Club has conducted the books of the month were “Transformative Realism: How to overcome the system crisis” by Marc Saxer and “Tasawwuf: Talash Ahsan ki Hama-Geer Tehreek”. Dr Saeed Ahmed Saeedi, Associate Professor, the Institute of Islamic Studies talked about the Urdu book. He elaborated on the theme of the book while narrating extracts from the book.

Dr Marium Kamal, Assistant Professor, Centre for South Asian Studies talked on “Transformative Realism”. She presented the notions of the author while relating these to the Pakistani context. A larger audience including students and faculty members was attending the program. Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani, Chief Librarian of PU Library, thanked the speakers and audience for their lively contribution to the program.

Dr Zaidi chairs 1747th meeting of the syndicate

Lahore, December 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi on Saturday chaired the 1747th meeting of the Syndicate. The Syndicate recommended 15 percent special allowance in the salary of the employees and teachers from grade 1 to 19 for the approval of relevant authorities. The meeting also approved promotions of non-teaching officers, recommendations of the Academic Council and the Finance and Planning Committee. The Syndicate gave additional charge of Registrar to Additional Controller Raja Shahid Javed for a period of three months.

The meeting also approved the appointment of heads of various departments. The Syndicate also nominated three members to the university’s Selection Board due to which now the meetings of the Selection Board would be possible. In the meeting, 20% increase in part-time teaching allowance was also approved. PU VC Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi said that he was ensuring rule of law, merit and transparency in all the matters of Punjab University. He termed the meeting a great success in which we made appointments of chairpersons.
