SSUET sign MoU with Transformation International Society 

Karachi, December 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transformation International Society (TIS) to prepare interns through supervised clinical training to the able to play the role of entry-level Clinical Psychologists to implement their skills effectively in psychological assessment and intervention.

The agreement is to enhance cooperation by providing students with the opportunity to practical function in a clinic and to recognize and reform abnormal behaviour, cognition and emotions through the application of psychotherapeutic principles and techniques.

The association of the two organizations would facilitate the students with secure knowledge, skill and ability to reach sound judgment in the detection, evaluation and diagnosis of various psychological conditions. Cdre (r) Engr. Syed Sarfraz Ali and Prof. Dr. Qudsia Tariq, Board Member TIS signed the MoU on behalf of the Sir Syed University and TIS respectively, while Dr. Sumbul Mujeeb, Sr. Lecturer SSUET and Amima Salam, Assistant Medical Director, TIS, singed as witness.

Opportunity for graduate studies in Climate and associated Environmental change at North Carolina State University-USA 

Rawalpindi, December 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):A one-year-long study abroad opportunity is available for two female students from LCWU, FJWU, and SBKWU to study aspects of climate and associated environmental change in the Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences (MEAS; https://meas.sciences.ncsu.edu/) at North Carolina State University (NCSU; https://www.ncsu.edu/) in the USA. This is part of a project titled “Developing the Next Generation of Female Environmentalists”, funded by the US Department of State.

Selected students will receive financial support and enrol in the master’s program in Climate Change and Society (https://ccs.sciences.ncsu.edu/), and depending on their interest and progress, this may lead to them enrolling in a doctoral program in MEAS. The students will be co-advised by Pakistani and US scientists and involved in developing a Pakistani Women University Climate Change Consortium (PWUCCC).

The selected students will travel with Pakistani scientists to the US in August 2023 to be involved in workshops throughout North Carolina, which will give them an introduction to the US academic environment before they start studying full-time at MEAS. Funding includes travel to the US and back, tuition, and a stipend covering accommodation and living costs commensurate with graduate student stipends in the College of Sciences at NCSU.

We invite current or recently graduated students/professionals who hold a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or an allied discipline (or are currently enrolled graduate students) at/from LCWU, FJWU, and SBKWU to apply for this opportunity. Please see the following requirements below:

Hazrat Essa (A.S)’s teachings promote peace, brotherhood, PU VC 

Lahore, December 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar has Zaidi said that we have to follow the teachings of Hazrat Essa (A.S) for the promotion of peace and brotherhood in the country. He was addressing at a Christmas cake cutting ceremony organized by PU’s Christian employees at Faisal Auditorium.

On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Geo-sciences Prof Dr Sajid Rasheed Ahmed, Resident Officer-II Jalil Tariq, social worker Raja Munawar, Chairman Masih Ittehad Committee Chaudhry Mushtaq and a large number of Christian employees and their families participated.

In his address, Dr Asghar Zaidi said that the Christian employees of the university had played important role in the development of the university. He said that similarly the work of sanitary workers to keep the university clean was also commendable.

He said that we should participate in each other’s festivals to promote the message of unity. On the occasion, the VC announced to increase Christmas Allowance by Rs 1000 this year. Dr Sajid Rasheed said that every year Christian employees of Punjab University organized a wonderful Christmas program which sent the message of peace and brotherhood to the world.

He said that everyone played their role in the development and prosperity the university. Chaudhry Mushtaq said that every year they celebrated the Christmas festival in Punjab University with complete religious freedom for which they were grateful to the administration for their support. He thanked the VC for increasing the allowance of Christian employees on the occasion of Christmas. Later, the Christmas cake was cut.

HCBF holds its seventh international research conference 

Lahore, December 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Hailey College of Banking and Finance has organized its seventh International Conference, CBIBM 2022. Theme of the Conference for the current year is, “Present Climatic Challenges and Sustainable Business Practices”.

Inaugural session of the Conference was held with Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairman Punjab, HEC as the Chief Guest. In his welcome address the Convener of the Conference and Principal of the College Prof. Dr. Mubbsher Munawar Khan presented a micro analysis of the disasters caused, and threats poised to pace of development, economic and business growth on account of climatic changes.

He deliberated upon climatic changes imparting, manufacturing, international trade, banking, insurance and consequently employment opportunities for ever increasing population. He encouraged the academicians and research scholars to identify crucial areas and develop alternate strategies for survival.

The ailing economy needs proactive approach to combat uncertainties said Dr. Khan. He also suggested for industry academia collaborations for pooling collective wisdom to bail out economy and business from the havoc poised by climatic changes.

Speaking at the occasion Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairman, Punjab, HEC appreciated efforts of Principal HCBF and his team in promoting research culture. He said that such activities add not only to the academic profile of the institution but also groom the scholars. Forums of Conference bring cross border problems and develop a pragmatic approach for their solutions thus adding to the existing literature.

This is a meaningful contribution totally in consonance with the higher academic objectives of the Universities. He applauded the efforts to attract researchers from international institutions besides receiving papers from all over Pakistan making the Conference a representative forum for augmenting and disseminating knowledge to the stakeholders.

Other key note speakers of the Conference included Dr. Amanullah from Australia, Dr. Baker from Jordan, Dr. Marco from Malaysia and Dr. Khurram from University of Lahore. The keynote speakers deliberated upon the climatic effects on their respective areas of concentration and presented steps vital for tackling the situation.

In two days Conference over 170 papers presented in four session with seven simultaneous tracks. Papers presented include scholarly work of academicians and research scholars from Australia, Britain, United States, Malaysia and Turkey. The local presenters included private and public sector universities of Punjab, Sindh, KPK and Baluchistan. This Conference contributed substantially towards the new avenues of sustainable business development.

Awareness session on drugs addiction and electronic gadgets prevalent amongst students

Lahore, December 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs in Collaboration with Punjab Youth Affairs and Sports Department (YA and SD 😉 has organized an interactive awareness session on “Drugs and Electronic Gadgets Addiction Prevalent amongst Youth on 16th December, 2022 10.00 a.m. at Alrazi Hall. Mr. Malik Sanaullah Additional Secretary (YA and SD 😉 Punjab was the guest of honour.

The guest speaker Mr. Qasim Zia (Project Development Specialist YA and SD 😉 talked with the students about the devastating effects of addiction. The main objective of the seminar was to educate the students about the harmful effects of not only drugs but also gadgets addiction.
