IoBM Celebrates 25th Annual Convocation; 1374 Degrees Awarded

Karachi, December 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi, held its 25th Convocation at its Korangi Creek Campus on Saturday, December 10, 2022. 1,374 graduates from numerous departments were conferred educational degrees at the ceremony this year which marks the Silver Jubilee convocation of IoBM.

The Chief Guest, Governor Sindh, Kamran Tessori graced the event with his presence. He was accompanied by Guest of Honour, Muhammad Aurangzeb, President and CEO, Habib Bank Limited and Keynote Speaker Mr. Abid Vazir, Director and COO, Cherat Packaging Limited.

In his welcome address, IoBM President, Talib S. Karim congratulated the graduates on their success while aspiring them for the future ahead. He quoted the vision of late founding President of IoBM, Mr. Shahjehan S. Karim, who envisioned to establish a business school imparting quality education. Mr. Talib extended a deep gratitude to members of the Board of Governors for their continuous support. He also acknowledged the Executive Director Ms. Sabina Mohsin’s hard work over the past 27 years in paving the way for the institute to host successful convocations year after year. Closing his speech, he advised the graduates to be respectful towards their parents and follow the path of IoBM alumni who have done remarkably well in the corporate sector.

The chief guest Mr. Kamran Tessori in his speech stated that the youth are the foundation that this great nation is built upon. He emphasized: “In the form of IoBM, Shahjahan S. Karim has given this country a great educational institution which has become a pride for Pakistan. Today, as you graduate from this auspicious university, it is crucial to embrace and portray the positive side of Pakistan as you step into the corporate world. The nation today needs good human beings who are educated and intellectual. It is crucial that as future leaders, you don’t get divided by ethnicity but take charge as Quaid e Azam had envisioned.”

Addressing the gathering, Chancellor IoBM, Mr. Bashir Jan Muhammad expressed his sentiments stating: “I see before me the generation of the future. The founder of the nation stated that the job of building the nation lies upon your shoulders. It is time to control your destiny, dream higher and reach for impressive milestones in your career.”

While inspiring the graduates to become change makers of the future, Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb said that at every turn in life, individuals must ask themselves if what they are doing is helping people and making their lives easier. It is great to be successful in your chosen fields and have illustrious careers, but it is one of life’s greatest blessings to become a good human being. He encouraged the graduating batch to be humble, be patient, and strive for the stars while practicing ‘Confident Humility’.

The Keynote Speaker, Mr. Abid Vazir lauded the graduates, noting: “You are graduating from an institution that has prepared you well for the challenges that lie ahead. You are entering a new chapter in your life in an exciting world that is full of challenges and opportunities amplified by social media and the connection revolution. The dynamic corporate world outside is open for passionate individuals, intent on carving their own paths and taking initiatives. So develop your leadership skills and don’t sit back on your laurels.”

The students who were part of the graduating batch this year received their degrees in business administration as well as other relevant disciplines. 18 gold medals were also awarded to the highest achievers within their respective programs. 38 students were awarded merit certifications at the occasion as well.

CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi lays foundation stone of first ever University of Child Health Sciences of Pakistan

Lahore, December 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi laid the foundation stone of the University of Child Health Sciences at CM office today. CM apprised that the first medical university will be established for children in Pakistan at the cost of rupees 9 billion 18 crore adding that a latest radiotherapy centre for children will also be established at the cost of rupees two billion. Radiotherapy centres for children will also be established in divisions so that children can be provided latest treatment facilities near their houses.

The Chief Minister stated that it will be a distinctive and latest medical university of its own type in the world. Mother and Child care hospitals are under construction in many cities including Mianwali according to the vision of Imran Khan. A college of paediatric will be established in the University of Child Health Sciences Lahore and a special training will be imparted to the surgeons and medical specialists with regard to providing treatment to children. A College of Allied Sciences for the training of allied health professionals and a College of Nursing for the training of nurses will be established.

A mother and child health care unit for the treatment and care of infants will be also be established. An institute of genetics and research centre will also be established in the Child Health University. An advance technology and telehealth centre equipped with telehealth, medical genomics and artificial intelligence facilities will also be established. In order to prevent the risk of any complication during pregnancy a fetal, maternal and prenatal health centres will also be established. The Chief Minister stated that he got University of Child Health Sciences 2021 Act approved from the Punjab Assembly.

CM maintained that revolutionary changes are being made in the health technology every passing day across the globe. The University of Child Health Sciences will be built by the Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab and establishing University of Child Health Sciences in Lahore is welcoming. CM stated that Allah Almighty granted him the honour to lay the foundation stone of such a splendid project of University of Child Health Sciences.

CM Parvez Elahi paid tributes to Doctor Yasmeen Rashid and other doctors on rendering their exemplary services. Secretary C and W gave a briefing to the Chief Minister about the University of Child Health Sciences project. Provincial Minister SHC and ME Doctor Yasmeen Rashid, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Secretary SHC and ME, Secretary Information, Vice Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Doctor Masood Sadiq and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.

President Lahore Press Club Azam Chaudhry and Secretary General PFUJ Rana Azeem call on CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi

Lahore, December 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):President Lahore Press Club Azam Chaudhry and Secretary General Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Rana Muhammad Azeem met with Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at CM office. CM announced a mega gift for the journalists and accorded approval to allot land for the Journalists Colony Phase 2 in Lahore. The Chief Minister granted approval to allocate 700 kanal land for the Lahore Press Club Housing Scheme Phase 2 and apprised that Journalists Colony Phase 2 will be built in the RUDA area. CM stated that earlier he had announced Journalists Housing Colony Phase 2 comprising 500 kanal land in the Ashiana Housing Scheme but due to shortage of land now granted approval to allocate land for Journalists Housing Colony phase 2 in the RUDA area.

CM maintained that the dream of all journalists will be fulfilled by having their own house with the construction of Journalists Colony Phase 2 comprising 700 kanal of land. The Lahore Press Club staff members will also be given 5, 5 marla plots each and the deceased as well as disabled journalists not having membership of the press club will also be given 5, 5 marla plots each in the Journalists Housing Colony phase 2. Plots will also be allocated for the families of deceased journalists in phase-2. CM assured to resolve the issue of B Block affectees adding that their due rights will be returned to them at the earliest.

CM informed that he already issued directions to the police to launch indiscriminate crackdown against the land- grabber mafia in the Journalists Colony Harbanspura. President Lahore Press Club Azam Chaudhry and Secretary General PFUJ Rana Muhammad Azeem thanked CM Parvez Elahi for granting approval to allocate 700 kanal land for the Journalists Colony Phase 2. Rana Muhammad Azeem stated that the journalists will always remember as earlier the present welfare steps of CM Parvez Elahi for the well- being of journalists adding that the Chief Minister has won the hearts of journalists community by enhancing the land of phase 2 from 500 kanal to 700 kanal.

The present laudable decision of CM Parvez Elahi will change the dream of all journalists for possessing their own house into a reality. Azam Chaudhry remarked that historic steps of CM Parvez Elahi for the welfare of journalists can never be forgotten. Azam Chaudhry acknowledged that CM Parvez Elahi is a real benefactor for the whole journalist’s community as he truly fulfilled the dream of journalists for having their own house. Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Chairman Ravi Urban Development Authority Zafar Nasrullah, DG LDA Amir Khan, Press Secretary to CM Iqbal Chaudhry and DGPR Rao Parvez Akhtar were also present on the occasion.

Special Assistant to CM for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Syed Rafaqat Gilani calls on CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, December 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to CM for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Syed Rafaqat Ali Gilani met with Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at CM office in which matters pertaining to mutual interest, performance of the department and current political situation were discussed. Syed Rafaqat Ali Gilani apprised the Chief Minister about the performance of Auqaf department.

CM while talking on the occasion stated that Seerat Academy was established to promote the teachings of the Holy Prophet P.B.U.H but unfortunately the PML-N government even politicised this most important project. CM informed that he had laid the foundation stone of Seerat Academy and Quran Complex on 3rd June 2006 and had inaugurated the Seerat Academy and Quran Complex on 18th November 2007. CM censured that Shahbaz Sharif had put on hold this project and the Seerat Academy was made dysfunctional during Shahbaz Sharif’s tenure.

The Chief Minister remarked that now Mphil and PhD classes are being started in the Seerat Academy adding that a hostel will be built for the research scholars as well. Quran Museum will also be built in the institution where rare and precious scripts of the Holy Quran will be kept. CM vowed to make Seerat Academy the focal point of decisions to be made with regard to religion. Research work will also be done relating to religious curriculum in the Seerat Academy. The Chief Minister appreciated the performance of Auqaf and Religious Affairs department.

I am addressing you from Singapore. You may be asking what the Secretary of State is doing in Metta’s office. Pakistan is the fifth most populous country in the world. Provinces asked to follow Sindh on key legislations for protection and promotion of human rights 

Karachi, December 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):Surendar Valasai, Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Human Rights has said that Sindh was leading in the legislation for protection and promotion of Human Rights and asked the other provinces to follow its path to make the country more human rights friendly country in the sub-continent.

He was addressing the “Discussion on Strategies to Promote Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms in Sindh” organized by Sindh Human Rights Department on the occasion of International Human Rights Day. The event was chaired by him and attended by the members of Provincial Human Rights Vigilance Committee and representatives of civil society organizations working for the promotion and protection of human rights in Sindh.

Surendar Valasai said that PPP Government has always remained supportive to the rights of most marginalized sections of society in country including in Sindh. Government of Sindh led Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah under the guidelines of worthy leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has made record legislation on human rights of women, children, religious minorities, peasants, agricultural workers, and differently-abled persons. He added that Commission for the Protection of Journalists and other Media Practitioners and Provincial Advisory Council for Empowerment of Disabilities have recently notified in Sindh.

While providing background to the program Secretary Human Rights Department Jawed Sibghatullah Mahar shared that Human Rights Day is celebrated every year on 10th December. On this day United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948. This year, the day is celebrated under the theme “The 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. Pakistan signed UDHR in 1948. Iqbal Detho, Human Rights Expert stressed that Training Management and Research (TMR) of Government of Sindh must incorporate human rights in the curriculum to train the bureaucrats on Human Rights.

The participants of the program extended a range of suggestions to Human Rights Department such as sensitization of criminal justice institutions including police on human rights, incorporating human rights in the syllabus at the school, college and university level, raising awareness on human rights among the grassroots communities, legislation on transgender persons rights, establishing help line on human rights violations in Sindh and formation of district human rights committees across Sindh.

Others who spoke in the event include Ayoub Khosa, member Sindh Human Rights Commission, Surya Jatoi, Sardar Nazakat Hussain, Nagma Iqtiqar, parliamentary experts, Sajida Andleeb, Fida Dahar, Moazzam Jahan, Trans rights activist and Dodo Chandio. Earlier, an Awareness Walk for human rights was also organized by the Human Rights Department led by Surendar Valasai from Sindh Assembly to Karachi Press Club, which was joined by political, social and human rights workers including Senator Gianchand, Iqbal Detho, Ayub Khosa, Sagar Samejo, Sikandar Hulio and others.
