UVAS organised 1st Women Leadership Program 

Lahore, December 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged 1st UVAS Women Leadership Program in connection with Women Empowerment through Women Involvement in Learning and Leadership (WE-WILL) here at City Campus.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the inaugural session of the programme while Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Saima, Chairperson Department of Anatomy and Histology Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb, Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani and many other senior female faculty and administration staff members from different campuses of UVAS were present.

While addressing the inaugural ceremony, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that female strength is increasing rapidly in faculty and administration of UVAS last two decades and they performing their duties with full of dedication. He said that women are provided equal rights at UVAS and they are always encouraged to equally participate in university activities. He said Government of Punjab developed seven consortiums and in which woman empowerment consortium is also added. He acknowledged the role of Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb for taken this initiative.

Earlier, Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb spoke about the aim and objectives of this programme. She said various issues/aspects related to leadership, governance, gender issues in academia, equity, sexual harassment, networking, career trajectories and financial management will be discuss and many well-known professors/experts from national and international institutions will be the resource person. She said participants will have an opportunity to learn from experiences of accomplished women leaders and advocates of women leadership from within and outside Pakistan.

Vice Chancellor presided over the 14th meeting of ASRB of Turbat University 

Turbat, December 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice Chancellor (VC), University of Turbat (UoT) has said that it is heart-warming that due to the joint efforts of the faculty members and administration, Turbat University is now considered one of the leading research and higher education institutes in the country.

He expressed these views while presiding over the 14th meeting of the Advance Studies and Research Board (ASRB) of UoT, which was held in the video conference room of the university on 30th November 2022. In his opening remarks, VC informed the meeting that the University of Turbat has recently got the member of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), which is a global acknowledgment of the tireless efforts of the Turbat University fraternity in the field of higher education.

The UoT’s registrar Ganguzar Baloch presented the agenda of the meeting that included confirmation of the minutes of the 13th meeting of ASRB, theses submitted by MS/MPhil Scholars, thesis evaluation reports, synopsis, and viva voce reports of MS/MPhil scholars of Business Administration, Balochi, and Chemistry for deliberation and decision. Besides the graduate rule and selection of a co-supervisor for an MPhil Chemistry scholar, other agenda items related to promoting quality research activities in the university were also brought to the forum for discussion and approval accordingly.

The registrar also presented a detailed report of the implementation of the decisions taken in the previous meeting of the ASRB. Jiangsu University approves fully funded PhD Scholarship to UoT’s Alumni 

Turbat, December 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Jiangsu University (JSU), Zhenjiang China, has approved a fully funded presidential scholarship to the UoT’s Alumni for the Ph.D. program in Management Science and Engineering. The scholarship covers all expenses for the doctoral study program in China.

This scholarship program is a part of the Collaboration Agreement signed between JSU and UoT on 1st January 2022. Mr. Shair Jan, a UoT’s Alumni received a Ph.D. scholarship award letter from Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC), University of Turbat (UoT) during a ceremony held on 25th November 2022 at the office of PVC.

Dr. Ghulam Jan, Director ORIC and the Focal Person of the Collaboration Agreement, Mr. Ijaz Ahmed, Director Linkages, Dr. Waseem Barkat, Dean Faculty of Economics, Commerce, and Management Sciences, Mr. Meer Bahad, Protocol Officer and Shair Jan, Ph.D. scholarship recipient were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ghulam Jan briefed the members regarding the scope and objectives of mutual collaboration between the two institutes.

Appreciating the efforts of Dr. Ghulam Jan, the PVC said that as per the vision of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, the UoT is committed to creating and providing such opportunities to its students, alumni, and the staff of the University of Turbat.

Two Days Business Idea Challenge concluded at Turbat University 

Turbat, December 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Vice-Chancellor (VC), of the University of Turbat (UoT), Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad has said that it is high time for the faculty members of the University of Turbat to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of the students along with imparting quality education in the classrooms. With the help of qualified faculty members, our students can thrive in their respective fields not only in the country but also at the international level.

He expressed these views while addressing the closing ceremony of the Business Idea Challenge (BIC 2022), which was organized by the Faculty of Economics, Commerce, and Business Administration on 29th and 30th December 2022 at the University of Turbat. The basic objective of the event was to foster the entrepreneurial ideas and skills of students. Twelve business ideas were shortlisted out of 29, which were submitted by the students of different departments of the university.

The shortlisted teams presented and defended their ideas in front of a three members jury headed by Dr. Waseem Barkat, Dean, Faculty of Economics, Commerce, and Business Administration, including an internal member, Dr. Ghulam Jan, Director ORIC, and an external member, Mr. Muzaffar Shan, an entrepreneur and the founder of Kech Amenities and Entertainment.

The team “Komak” got the first position followed by the team “Kech Royal Event Management” and “Gwadar Amusement Beach” which secured the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The first position holder team was awarded Rs.40, 000/-, while 2nd and 3rd position holders were awarded Rs.25, 000/- and Rs.15, 000/- respectively along with shields and certificates.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that faculty members should engage students in such creative activities which are very important for the socio-economic development of any society. Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad further added that today technology has become our need and the world has become digitalized.

The Vice-Chancellor urged the students to get out of the mind-set of getting a seventeen-grade job, and rather plan to start their own businesses in this competitive world. When you are committed and your direction is on the right way in the field of entrepreneurial-ship, the finance and capital will come to you automatically. VC requested faculty members to put in their maximum efforts to creating job providers instead of degree-holder graduates only.

VC announced organizing a business gala, job fair, and sports festival at Turbat University in January next year at a larger scale, in which entrepreneurs and investors across the country will be invited to participate. He congratulated the organizers, participants and Dean, Faculty of Economics, and Business Administration and his team for successfully organizing such a creative and innovative event at Turbat University.

The Dean Dr. Waseem Barkat, Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Majid Nasir, Director of ORIC Dr. Ghulam Jan, and Convener of the event Muhammad Waris, also spoke on the occasion. At the end of the event, VC Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Dean Academics, and Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director QEC distributed cash prizes, certificates, and shields among position holders, participants, jury members and organizers of the event. The inaugural and closing ceremony of the event was also attended by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Directors, Chairpersons, faculty members, and students of the university in large numbers, Daily News.

Associate Professor Dr Ghulam Ali recognised by Pakistan Academy of Sciences for Materials Physics research 

Islamabad, December 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):We are proud to share that Dr Ghulam Ali, Associate Professor at the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E) has been awarded the Dr. M. Raziuddin Siddiqui Prize (2022) in Physics for Scientists under 40, in recognition of his ‘extraordinary contribution in research’ to the Materials Physics from Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), Islamabad.

He has significantly contributed to the development of cathode and anode materials for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. Daily News
