The 4th Senate meeting of the University of Chitral 

Chitral, November 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 4th Senate meeting of the University of Chitral was held in Governor House Peshawar today 02-11-2022. The session was chaired by Minister of Higher Education, KP Mr. Kamran Bangash. The Senate unanimously approved the recommendations of the Syndicate with respect to the Constitution of the Selection Board and other Committees required to process the hiring of Faculty and other Staff for the University.

13th UVAS Convocation to be held on 23rd November 

Lahore, November 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 13th convocation of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has been scheduled to be held on 23rd November, 2022 at City Campus Lahore. Chancellor/Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman will preside over the convocation.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired a meeting of the conveners and secretaries of subcommittees and reviewed preparations/arrangements for the 13th convocation. The conveners of sub-committees briefed the meeting on the working of their respective committees. Full dress rehearsal for the convocation will be arranged at City Campus on 22nd November.

The main auditorium of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been renamed as Khawaja Ghulam Farid Auditorium 

Bahawalpur, November 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):The main auditorium of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been renamed as Khawaja Ghulam Farid Auditorium. In this regard, a special notification from the university, the committee appointed by the syndicate has approved naming the main auditorium in the Baghdad ul Jadeed campus as Khawaja Ghulam Farid Auditorium. It is worth mentioning that Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob in his presidential address at the recent Khawaja Ghulam Farid Conference had announced the name of the main auditorium as Khawaja Ghulam Farid Auditorium.

People from all walks of life including social, educational and literary circles and civil society have appreciated this initiative of Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and termed it as the best tribute to the great Sufi poet of the region, Khawaja Ghulam Farid. It is significant to mention here that during the last two years, Khwaja Ghulam Farid Chair was activated by forming the Khwaja Ghulam Farid Chair Management Committee. Khawaja Ghulam Farid Chair Management Committee includes the most important personalities from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and outside the university associated with Fikr-e Farid.

The members of this committee headed by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Chairman include Khawaja Moinuddin Mehboob Koreja Sajjada Nashin Darbar Farid as co-Chairman, Dr. Shahzad Qaiser as co-Chairman, Prof. Dr. Javed Hassan Chandio Dean Faculty of Arts and Languages, Saeed Sheikh, Director General Information Broadcasting, Riaz Hussain Sindhar Assistant Professor, Mujahid Jatoi Poet and writer, Malik Khuda Yar Khan Chanar Social Personality, Dr. Sadia Kamal Eminent Journalist, Athar Lashari Lecturer, Ismatullah Shah Poet and writer, Mian Samad Sher Abbasi and Khawaja Rawal Moin Koreija Wali-Ehd Darbar-e-Farid honorary Director and Secretary included.

By activating the Khawaja Farid Chair, this committee took up the task of highlighting the poetry and teachings of Khawaja Ghulam Farid at the national and international level. Apart from the annual National Khawaja Farid Conference and Seminar, publications of various books have been organized by this Management Committee. Apart from this, famous singers participate in the annual coffee gathering. This time the great singer Suraiya Multanikar was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Similarly, Khawaja Ghulam Farid Society has also been established at the level of male and female students.

Celebration of Global Climate Change Week for the Year 2022 

Chitral, November 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Chitral in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society KP organized a painting and Art competition among the students on the occasion of Global Climate Change week celebrations. Global Climate Change Week (GCCW) encourages academic communities – including academics, students, and non-academic staff at universities – in all disciplines and countries to engage with each other, their communities, and policymakers on climate change action and solutions.

There is an urgent need to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases much more quickly than is currently projected. There is also an urgent need to adapt to global warming that can’t now be prevented, especially for rich countries to help other countries to adapt and develop in low-carbon ways. The purpose of the event is to encourage academic communities – including academics, students, and professional staff at universities and their local municipalities – to contribute more to ensure that these needs are met.

The Chief Guest of the event was Prof Dr. Tajudin, the provost University of Chitral. He stressed educating the young generation on the devastating impacts of Global warming. He also urged the students to play their role in mitigating the impacts of global warming. Mr. Ayaz Ali, Program Officer of Climate change, Pakistan Red crescent encouraged the students to work as change agents and play an active role in combating global warming.

Disaster Management by Al-Khidmat amid Flood-2022 

Lahore, November 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):Devastating floods have turned the whole Pakistan upside down. From losing livelihoods to drowning economy to no education everything is going downhill. ALKHIDMAT is a humanitarian organization who has been working in hope of bringing normalcy back again. According to the AlKhidmat report ‘ALKHIDMAT FLOOD RESPONSE’ released on 10th September 2022, 1396 mortalities have been reported and around 33 million people have displaced.

AlKhidmat team and volunteers carrying on their relief and rescue work continuously amid flood. Their bravery and act of kindness while rescuing flood victims from the monstrous pressure of rain is commendable. The flood didn’t deter the volunteers and they stood their ground. Starting off with a mitigation plan, victims were brought out of the lurking danger and avoiding any loss of life by targeting vulnerable areas or red zones. With effective preparedness, proper plans and actions have been devised to tackle problems on strategic and operational level. Flood Response in terms of providing emergency relief has been put in place.

Rescue operations via boats, providing food packages village tents and medical camps, all were delivered to the affected people to minimize the hazards created by the flood. 23 tent villages have been successfully established so far in the flood-stricken areas as it was a dire need of 1743345 displaced people who have lost their livelihoods and homes. 317 medical camps set up to combat growing infectious and waterborne illnesses such as cholera, diarrhea, dengue, malaria, snake bites etc. Medical camps were able to provide check-ups to 76270 patients. ALKHIDMAT Is trying its best with its rescue and relief work in flood stricken area amid flood-2022, in recovering and bringing back what has been lost in the flood to get back to life again.

From being the voice of the flood afectees to tactical planning such as provision of food, clothes and shelter, they had conducted meetings for long term collaborations with international and national humanitarian organization. Disasters are the natural processes leaving behind irreplaceable destruction. ALKHIDMAT is on a path to bring back all the colours and life in the society. Anybody can become a part of this Nobel aim by either volunteering for AlKhidmat or making donations or helping in any possible way.

Less than half of Pakistani’s (36%) take part in any work at least once a week that causes them heavy sweating: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan

Islamabad, November 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, less than half of Pakistani’s (36%) take part in any work at least once a week that causes them heavy sweating.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the country was asked the following question regarding, “Did you do any work at least once a week that caused you heavy sweating, or made you beat very fast?” 36% said yes while 64% responded no.

Question: “Did you do any work at least once a week that caused you heavy sweating, or made you beat very fast?”
