Trials of various games start in all divisions of the province for the selection of divisional male and female teams for upcoming 73rd Punjab Games 

Lahore, October 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):The trials of various games started in all divisions of the province on Thursday for the selection of divisional male and female teams for upcoming 73rd Punjab Games on the directions of Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi.

According to details, the swimming, archery trials were held in Lahore while a large number of male and female players participated in hockey, football, swimming, cycling, badminton, volleyball, athletics, wrestling trials in DG Khan on Thursday. Shooting and running trials were held in Gujranwala. Similarly, the trials of several other games have started in rest of the districts of the province.

Meanwhile, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan also chaired an important meeting at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday to review the preparations and arrangements of 73rd Punjab Games scheduled to be held under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab at different venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex from October 24 to 27, 2022.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) Idris Haider Khawaja, Chief Sports Consultant SBP Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Tariq Wattoo, Assistant Director Zahoor Ahmed, Assistant Director Youth Affairs Nazish Noor, PRO SBP Abdul Rauf Roofi, PSO to Sports Minister Mirza Nadeem, administrators of all venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex and representatives of various sports associations.

Addressing the meeting, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan said the mega event of 73rd Punjab Games will be organized to promote sports culture in the province especially backward areas. “The 73rd edition of Punjab Games will provide a suitable platform to talented male and female players of the province to showcase their talent,” he added.

Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan directed all the stakeholders to accelerate the preparations of their respective contingents for the grand event. “We are quite upbeat to find several potential athletes after the completion of these games,” he explained.

Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi to inaugurate Punjab Games at a grand opening ceremony on October 24

Lahore, October 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood said that the 73rd edition of Punjab Games will be organized at different venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex in a befitting manner, he said this while addressing a high-profile meeting at National Hockey Stadium on Friday.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood said Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi will inaugurate Punjab Games at a grand opening ceremony on October 24. “All the relevant departments and stakeholders are on board for the smooth holding of Punjab Games in collaboration with Punjab Olympic Association”.

Vice-Chairman SBP Rao Zahid Qayyum, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta and Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi and other officials briefed Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood about different features of 73rd edition of Punjab Games in a high-profile meeting.

After the high-level meeting, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta while addressing a press conference announced that over 5000 athletes from all over the province will take part in Punjab Games.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan, Director Sports Nadeem Qaiser, Secretary Punjab Olympic Association Idris Haider Khawaja, Deputy Director Tariq Wattoo, Assistant Director Zahoor Ahmed and other officials were also present on this occasion.

Addressing the press conference, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta informed that the competitions of 30 sports disciplines will be organized during 73rd Punjab Games out of which 8 games will be staged only for women. “We will also organize competitions for transgender and special children during the games”.

He said that the sports contingents from Gilgit Baltistan, AJK, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad will also participate in the grand event. “A torch-bearer rally for the Punjab Games will be taken out on Oct 22”.

“As many as 18 administrative committees will be formed for the smooth holding of major events. We have also arranged 35 hotels for participating

Athletes. We have also increased the daily allowance of participating athletes and officials in view of growing inflation in the country”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, answering a question said that Sports Board Punjab will provide best facilities to all participating teams during Punjab games. “The participation of transgender and special athletes will be of symbolic nature,” he added.

Elaborating further, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that cash prizes, medals will be awarded to all medal winners of Punjab Games. “After holding 72nd Punjab Games after a gap of 8 years in 2019 quite successfully, now we are going to hold the second edition in our tenure in the collaboration of Punjab Olympic Association”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that all the athletes will participate in Punjab Games purely on merit. “As many as 20 sports events will be organized in Nishtar Park Sports Complex venues while squash and cycling events will be organized at Punjab Squash Complex and DHA respectively”.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta presides over an important meeting to review arrangements of 73rd Punjab Games 

Lahore, October 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta along with Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi presided over an important meeting at National Hockey Stadium on Friday to review the preparations and arrangements of 73rd Punjab Games scheduled to be held under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab at different venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex from October 24 to 27, 2022.

The meeting was attended by Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan, Director Sports Nadeem Qaiser, top officials of Punjab Food Authority (PFA), Civil Defence, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), Rescue-1122, Wasa, Police, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Office and other key officials.

During the meeting, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi and Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan gave thorough briefing about the preparations and arrangements of 73rd Punjab Games.

Addressing the meeting, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta said that the Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab is going to organize a historic mega event of Punjab Games. “We are making excellent arrangements for the smooth holding of 73rd edition of Punjab Games in which most number of athletes from all districts and tehsils of the province are taking part”.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta directed all the relevant departments to show exemplary coordination and play an important role for the befitting organisation of Punjab Games. He also instructed the departments concerned to provide clean drinking water and make brilliant cleanliness arrangements at all the venues of upcoming Punjab Games.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta said that Punjab Games have decades old history. “The games were organized even before the partition. Punjab Sports Department has the honour to maintain this tradition till date”. He said that the food of the players will be inspected by the Punjab Food Authority.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, on this occasion said that the 73rd edition of Punjab Games will prove to be biggest sports event of the history of Punjab province. “Thousands of male and female athletes from far flung areas of the province will be showing their potential in their respective sports disciplines,” he added. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that a new batch of players will be prepared from the Punjab Games. “The 73rd Punjab Games trophy will be unveiled tomorrow,” he added.

Sports Board Punjab signs MoU with country’s leading Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Amir Aziz to provide best treatment to national athletes at Pakistan’s first ever Sports Medical Clinic 

Lahore, October 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Taking another key step Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan’s leading Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Amir Aziz at National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi signed the MoU with Dr Amir Aziz to provide best treatment to national athletes at Pakistan’s first Sports Medical Clinic. Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan and other officials were also present on this occasion.

Talking on this occasion, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that Sports Board Punjab will establish country’s first ever Sports Medical Clinic in near future at Nishtar Park Sports Complex where expert physicians, orthopedic surgeons and nutritionists will be available for the treatment of national athletes free of cost. “Definitely, it is a big news for Punjab’s male and female athletes,” he asserted.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that now our players belonging to different games will have services of top doctors to cure their different injuries, diseases and ailments. “The basic purpose of this MoU is to provide best health facilities to Pakistan’s top athletes and ensure fully fit players for big sports events,” he explained.

Pakistan’s leading Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Amir Aziz on this occasion said that the setting up of country’s first Sports Medical Clinic is absolutely a revolutionary measure on the part of Sports Board Punjab. “It will be a great pleasure for me to treat country’s top sports stars at the historic Sports Medical Clinic,” he added.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta inspects progress of High Performance Center for Cricket, other venues in Faisalabad 

Lahore, October 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):X-secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta visited Faisalabad on Wednesday to inspect the progress of the High Performance Center for Cricket being built by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta was accompanied by Project Director PMU Sports Board Punjab Nadeem Anwar, Divisional Sports Officer Faisalabad Rana Hamad, ADC, representative of DC Faisalabad, Additional Commissioner Faisalabad and other top officials during his inspection visit.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta visited various parts of the High Performance Center during his inspection visit. He directed the officers concerned to complete all civil work of High Performance Center by 30th November and finish all the construction work by December so that state of art cricket facility be made functional for young cricketers of Faisalabad without wasting further time.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta also visited Faisalabad Hockey Stadium. He ordered the officers concerned to complete the work of the new atro-turf within one month so that hockey players of Faisalabad can benefit from it. He was told that the main stadium is being renovated by the federal Govt and Pakistan Sports Board. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta directed the officers concerned to replace the atro-turf as early as possible.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta also visited E-Library Faisalabad to review its services like laptops, reading room, cleanliness, washrooms etc. He also talked with students in the reading room. He directed the relevant officials to complete the whitewash of the conference room along with replacing out of order taps, repair washrooms for visitors.

In the next stage of his visit, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta held a detailed meeting with all stakeholders at the Commissioner Office to review sports projects of Faisalabad Division. He also visited Bohranwali cricket ground (Company Bagh) to assess its renovation made by PMU. He also talked to youngsters playing cricket in this historical ground and asked about the existing facilities. The players and their coach thanked the Sports Department for providing an excellent playing ground and other necessary facilities.

Pakistan pentathlon team clinch three medals in Laser Run competitions of Modern Pentathlon Open Asian Championship 

Lahore, October 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan pentathlon team exhibited excellent performance and clinched three medals in Laser Run competitions of Modern Pentathlon Open Asian Championship held in Kyrgyzstan’s capital city Bishkek.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi in a statement on Tuesday congratulated the Pakistan pentathlon team for showing brilliant performance in Modern Pentathlon Open Asian Championship held this week.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said M Muneer, Naeem Ahmed Zafar and Rana Mohsin Razzaq made the nation proud by winning coveted medals in international Modern Pentathlon Open Asian Championship. “Modern Pentathlon games are gaining popularity among the youth in our country. We are providing the best facilities to athletes for the promotion of modern pentathlon among the younger generation,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi informed that Modern Pentathlon events will also be held in upcoming Punjab Games. “I am quite upbeat that the Pakistan pentathlon team will maintain its medal winning performance in the next international competitions,” he expressed his hope.

As many as eight countries including Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, etc. participated in the 5-day Modern Pentathlon Open Asian Championship. Pakistan’s M Munir bagged the gold medal, Naeem Ahmed Zafar grabbed silver while Rana Mohsin Razzaq finished with the bronze medal in their respective Laser Run competitions. The Pakistani team was also awarded a trophy based on their number of points.
