MultiChoice partners with global environmental initiative The Earthshot Prize to find and spotlight ground-breaking solutions across Africa with the potential to repair the planet

Nairobi, Oct. 11, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — MultiChoice today announced its media broadcast partnership with The Earthshot Prize to help accelerate and spotlight the ingenuity and ambition of innovators, activists and scientists across Africa who are working to address the climate crisis on the African continent and around the world.

The Earthshot Prize aims to find scalable solutions to address the world’s biggest environmental problems and repair the planet over the next 10 years. The Prize is awarded to winners in five categories, with each winner receiving £1 million grant to scale their work.

The partnership aims to raise awareness and understanding of The Earthshot Prize across Africa, supporting local finalists and highlighting their innovative solutions and mobilizing communities to address sustainability challenges.

The Earthshot Prize was first launched in 2021 with three African organizations selected as finalists – Sanergy (from Kenya), Reeddi Capsules (from Nigeria) and Pole Pole Foundation (from the Democratic Republic of Congo).

By spotlighting these innovators and their solutions, the Prize aims to spark the world’s collective imagination to drive a collective mindset of urgent action on the issues surrounding the climate crisis.

Alwaleed Philanthropies signs a five-year partnership with Al Hilal Saudi Club for Women Sports

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 11, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, has signed a five-year partnership with Al Hilal Saudi Club for Women Sports.

The MOU agreement was signed by HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Saud Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies; and Fahad Bin Nafel the Chairman of the Board of Al Hilal Saudi Club. With the presence of Mr. Suleiman Al-Hattlan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Hilal Saudi Club; members of the Al Hilal Saudi Club Board of Directors, Mr. Faisal Al-Ghashian, Mr. Salman Al-Tuwaijri; and Mr. Sultan Alsheikh, CEO of Al Hilal Investment Club company.

Designers Celebrated Teachers’ Day at SOAD 

Faisalabad, October 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):World’s teacher’s day was celebrated heartily at the School of Arts and Design on 5th October 2022. Students of BTD (final year) designed sustainable decorative and embellished textile surfaces made from fabric swatches which were later converted into beautiful tote bags by SOAD sewing lab assistant Mr. Faiz Ali. Perfect stitching and neat finishing converted the fabric swatches into colourful and eye-catching textile products.

Director SOAD, Dr. Zafar Javed, personally visited all faculty members in their classes, greeted them for their educational contributions, and presented them with the tote bags designed for them as a token of appreciation for their hard work. Positive motivation and appreciation are the driving forces needed by all professionals in every field.

Faculty of Education marks Teachers Day 

Islamabad, October 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Teacher’s Day was celebrated at Faculty of Education in male and female campuses of International Islamic University (IIU) separately. On the male side, Students of Faculty of Education actively participated in the programs arranged to pay tributes to the teachers. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean, Faculty of Education, was the guest of the program held in honour of teachers.

The program was chaired by Dr. Azhar Mehmood, Chairman, Department of Educational Leadership and Management and Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, In-charge, Department of Teacher Education (male campus). Dr. Sheikh Tariq Mehmood and Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan were also present in the program.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar motivated the students to be devoted to studies and keep in mind the attribute of respect of teachers. He advised the students to focus on study. He appreciated the students for arranging such a successful program in the honour of teachers.

Dr. Azhar Mehmood hailed the students for their active participation in academic activities. He encouraged them to play positive role in society. Dr. Sheikh Tariq Mehmood talked on contributions of parents and teachers to prepare the youth as an asset. Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan motivated the students to learn discipline in life. Dr. Khan inspired the students to think about their contributions in overcoming the economic and social challenges in society.

Meanwhile, on the female side special stall are set up along with the other activities to mark the teacher’s day. The stall was also visited by H.E. Dr Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President IIU who paid rich tributes to the teachers.

Students of BS Education and B.Ed. (Elementary) stunningly embellished the reception areas of Fatima-tuz-Zahra, Ayesha and Marium Block and greeted the teachers. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar (Dean Faculty of Education), Dr. Shamsa Aziz (Chairperson, Department of Teacher Education), Dr. Azhar Mahmood (Chairperson, Department of Leadership and Management), inaugurated the stalls of different blocks.

Prof. Samina Malik (Vice President Female Campus) and Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, (Student advisor Female Campus) also graced the event and acknowledged the efforts of students. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, appreciated the coordinated efforts of students and opined that, teachers and students are the real hope of bright future.

He said teachers should be respected, because they uphold the students by acting as a source of inspiration for the students and nurture their success and capacity to understand the life. It was largely participated by all faculty members of various faculties of the of Female Campus.

RDC commemorates Teachers Day 

Islamabad, October 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Regional Dawah center (RDC) of International Islamic University (IIUI) in collaboration with Pakistan Education Foundation (PEF) organized a special session to mark the World Teachers Day at Karachi. The program was attended by as many as 160 teachers hailing from public sector and private schools from Gudap town. It was also attended by Gul Hameed Mansuri, Shah Munir Alam, Shehla, and Muhammad Hassan Gabool.

Speaking on the occasion, Incharge RDC, Dr. Syed Aziz Ur Rehman said that teacher has special place in Muslim society. He said Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the best role model for teachers. Mr. Gul Mansuri urged to take care of at least one student financially and also nurture him in the light of teachings of Islam. He said as per Islamic teachings every day is Teachers Day. District Education Officer, Ali Khan Mir Jat also spoke on the occasion, he said teaching is sacred occupation and we must be honest about the teaching responsibilities. Earlier, Dr. Shehzad Channa, Coordinator RDC, spoke of the aims and objective of the program.
