IIUI President holds meeting with Directors and Additional Directors

Islamabad, October 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held a meeting with Directors and Additional Directors at the new campus on Tuesday where he said that university management is keen to make this institution economically stable and renowned one in excellence.

On the occasion, IIUI President opined that the goals and objectives that have been set to achieve the destination of success demand selfless, untiring, united and honest efforts. He said the university, in pursuit of its objectives of infrastructural and academic excellence IIUI needs joint efforts from all of its segments. H.E. Dr. Hathal said that the university will progress at double pace in the light of the long term policy devised to solve the economic issues.

He urged the officers community to double the efforts to make IIUI more prosperous, progress and successful. He said everyone must be aware of his responsibilities and there should not be any element of negligence in the line of duty. IIUI President also appreciated the suggestions given by the participating officers and assured that response and feedback for the betterment of university shall be encouraged.

IIUI President visits Faculty of Computing 

Islamabad, October 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), visited the Faculty of Computing where he reviewed arrangements of newly installed labs and also held a meeting with the faculty.

On the occasion, Vice President Administration and Finance, Dr. N.B. Jumani, Vice President Research and Enterprise Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President Academics, Dr. Ayaz Afsar and Vice President Female Campus, Dr. Samina Malik were also present. It was also attended by Dean Faculty of Computing, Dr. Mohammad Asmat Ullah Khan, Heads of the departments and faculty members. The Worthy President also visited Computer Labs in the department. On this occasion, he was briefed about the programs and activities of the department.

The IIUI President stressed upon the faculty to be devoted for provision of best academic facilities to students. Dr. Hathal reiterated his resolve that IIUI would keep providing a milieu of peace and high quality contemporary education integrated with teachings of Islam. He desired that the culture of research should be promoted among the students. He hailed hard work of the faculty and staff to raise the new faculty, while he also assured of all possible support. He opined that this new faculty would help in contributing to the progress of the university in the best manner.

On the occasion, Vice President Administration and Finance, Dr. N.B. IIUI President, in connection with the World Teachers Day said that “On the occasion of Teachers’ Day I have great pleasure in extending my greetings and felicitations to teachers”. “The teaching profession is one that is fundamental to society and Teachers’ Day provides us with an opportune occasion to reflect on the value of teachers and thank them for their wonderful work” he said.

ILMA University Ranked Number 1 in Sindh, 3rd in Pakistan by Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 

Karachi, October 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):ILMA University has been ranked the number 1 university in Sindh and the 3rd best private sector University of Pakistan for the year 2022 by the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking, UK. The achievement is credited to the vision of the university’s Chancellor, Noman Abid Lakhani (TI), its high teaching standards, and focused strategies in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs).

It is pertinent to note that one-fourth of Pakistani seats of learning have managed to qualify for international rankings by the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking for 2022, thus being placed amongst more than 1,600 universities across 99 countries.

Phil Baty, the Chief Knowledge Officer of the Times Higher Education, in a recent interview with the university, appreciated the performance of Pakistani universities during the last three years. HEC chairman for new knowledge, education, training 

Lahore, October 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed has said that creating new knowledge along with education and training is the prime responsibility of universities. He was addressing the closing ceremony of the second two-day national conference online on the theme of ‘Role of Universities in National Development and Stability’ organized by Punjab University Institute of Education and Research.

On this occasion, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Prof Dr Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Prof Dr Athar Mehboob, Vice Chancellor University of Education Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Vice Chancellor University of South Asia Mian Imran Masood, Director IER Prof Dr Rafaqat Ali Akbar, conference secretary Prof Dr Shahid Farooq, researchers, faculty members and students were present.

In his address, Dr Mukhtar said that such research should be promoted in the universities which will bring political and economic stability in the country. He said that teachers and imams are the persons who can create a civilized society. He said that teachers should recognize their place and become role models for students. He said that there is no shortage of resources in Pakistan, only their proper usage is needed. He said that organizing the best conference in PU IER on International Teacher’s Day is appreciated.

In his address, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Prof Dr Shahid Munir said that the dream of development can never be fulfilled without education. He said that Malaysia spends 25% of its GDP on education and research. He said that the world built F-16 aircraft on the basis of education and research and research work is being done in many universities to solve water shortage. He said that our universities should promote research culture according to the new trends.

He said that climate change has had the most impact in Asian countries. He said that giving suggestions to deal with the problems faced by the world is one of the important responsibilities of universities. He said that 64% of Pakistan’s population consists of youth and if we guide them in the right direction, they can contribute towards the prosperity of our country. He said that teachers should adopt modern methods of teaching using information technology so that students can be educated according to market needs.

Dr Athar Mehboob said that a teacher is an artist whose industry is the soul of man. Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that for the promotion of education and research in the country, the teachers of education and research institutions have to play a dynamic role in systematic policy making. Mian Imran Masood said that private-public partnership is essential for the development of education in Pakistan.

He said that consultation with the private sector is a good initiative of the government to promote education in the country. Dr Rafaqat Ali Akbar thanked the distinguished guests and said that Punjab University Institute of Education and Research will continue to play its role for the sustainable development of the country. Later, a walk was arranged under the leadership of Prof Dr Shahid Munir to pay tribute to the teachers.

Former Federal Minister Moonis Elahi met with Special Assistant on Information Technology Punjab Dr. Arsalan Khalid, discussed making Punjab paperless 

Lahore, October 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):Former Federal Minister Moonis Elahi met Special Assistant on Information Technology Punjab Dr. Arsalan Khalid. In the meeting, there was a lively discussion on taking practical steps to make Punjab paperless. Moonis Elahi and Dr. Arsalan Khalid were briefed by the concerned authorities regarding the latest projects of the Punjab Technology Board. Moonis Elahi appreciated the latest initiatives of the Punjab Information Technology Board.

Talking on this occasion, Moonis Elahi said that legislation is going to be passed to make Punjab paperless, according to the vision of Imran Khan, IT sector is our first priority, Punjab government will provide all facilities for the development of IT sector.

Dr. Arsalan Khalid said that under the vision of Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan and the leadership of Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Punjab is making paperless completely, the Punjab Digital Policy is going to revolutionize the IT sector in Punjab, all the affairs of the Punjab Cabinet including the CM office are also being transferred to digital technology. He said that they are bringing IT systems at the tehsil and district levels, creating thousands of new job opportunities by promoting information technology, which will make the young generation stand on their own feet by making them skilled in the IT sector.

Dr. Arsalan Khalid said that the Digital Skills 2.0 program is a masterpiece of innovation that will benefit thousands of young people. He said that they are making all the services of Punjab online, the people of Punjab will be able to benefit from all the services of Punjab on one click, they are bringing a special app to inform about local and foreign jobs, legislation on data governance and data sharing.

Doing so, vegetable markets are being transferred to digital market, all data will be secured in vegetable markets which will eliminate price stabilization and hoarding of vegetables. Dr. Arsalan Khalid said that telemedicine project will revolutionize the health sector. Principal Secretary Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Sajid Latif DGE Governance, Faisal Yusuf DGIT Operations, Waqar Naeem DGIT Solutions and other officials were present on this occasion.
