Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan chairs high-level meeting in connection with upcoming Pakistan-England three T20 matches 

Lahore, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan chaired a high-level meeting in connection with upcoming Pakistan-England three T20 matches at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan, Chief Security Officer SBP Col (retd) Shabbir, PCB officials Usman Wahla and Brig Jahangir, Additional Commissioner Lahore, DG Protocol, DC Lahore, AC Model Town Sonia Sadaf, SP Hasan, Punjab Safe City Authority official M Asim and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The officials of district administration, Lahore police, traffic police, PHA, Protocol, Wasa, LWMC, MCL, Rescue-1122, health and security agencies also participated in the meeting.

Prior to meeting, Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan also had a detailed discussion with Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi at his office.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pak-England 3 T20 matches will be played at Gaddafi Stadium from September 28 to October 2, 2022.

A detailed briefing was given to Commissioner Lahore on all arrangements such as security measures, cleanliness, rescue, traffic and parking etc.

Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan directed the officers concerned to facilitate the cricket fans and simplify the ticket checking process outside the stadium. He instructed the security agencies to check the installation of lights on the routes and around the stadium. “More than 8,000 police personnel will ensure the security of both teams, routes and stadium,” he added.

Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan further said that additional security cameras will be installed to make the live monitoring system more effective. “There will be no compromise on security. Special routes should be made operational from several parts of the city to accommodate maximum number of cricket spectators”.

Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan said that the branding of the city should be excellent. “Security of parking sites should be up to the mark and there will be no compromise on cleanliness in and around Gaddafi Stadium”.

Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan directed the officers concerned to keep all Wasa machinery available and operational during T20 matches. “There should be no dark area around the stadium and on the routes and cleanliness should be excellent in all enclosures”.

He said that there should be superb traffic plan and it should be publicized at all levels for the convenience of citizens and cricket fans.

While giving the briefing, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq as many as 148 security cameras of Sports Board Punjab are fully active in Nishtar Park Sports Complex. “The best facilities will be provided to cricket fans in Nishtar Park Sports Complex. Sports Board will fully cooperate with all departments for the smooth organization of T20 matches”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq said a modern control room has already in operation at National Hockey Stadium. “Sports Board Punjab will play its effective role for the success of Pakistan-England T20 cricket series,” he added.

MQI delegation meets Speaker Punjab Assembly

Lahore, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation of Minhaj-ul-Quran International led by Director Foreign Affairs GM Malik called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Sibtain Khan and congratulated him on his election as the Speaker of the provincial assembly. The delegation consisted of Shahzad Rasool Chaudhry and Khurram Shahazad. Secretary Punjab Assembly Inayat ullah Lak was also present on the occasion.

GM Malik appreciated the Punjab government for its rescue and relief activities. He also informed Sibtain Khan on the relief operations being carried out under the banner of Minhaj Welfare Foundation.

Speaker Punjab Assembly said on the occasion that the Punjab government is using all available resources for the help of the flood affectees. He informed the delegation about the various steps being taken by the government for the relief and rehabilitation.

UVAS inks MoU with University of Home Economics to promote cooperation in education and amp; research 

Lahore, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and University of Home Economics (UHE) Lahore signed a memorandum of understanding to promote cooperation in education and amp; research.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad (S.I), Director Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) Dr Ferhan Jamil from UVAS while Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen and Deputy Director (ORIC) Mr Tariq Aziz from University of Home Economics (UHE) signed the MoU in a ceremony held at here in City Campus on Tuesday.

Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani and number of UVAS senior faculty members and officials from UHE were present in the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that this cooperation will be very beneficial for both institutions especially for learning/shearing each other experience, innovative knowledge, new ideas and practical skills. He also briefed the UHE delegation on UVAS academic, research projects and amp; state of the art lab facilities of university.

Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen said that for the uplift of institution it is direly needed to work on the faculty development for their capacity building. She spoke about the publication, areas of research, interest and objectives for the development of UHE. She also sought assistance of UVAS in the development and up gradation of UHE labs. She also urged the need to include faculty impact in generating finances in the shape of research projects rather-then number of publications.

Later, UHE delegation visited UVAS Food Science and Human Nutrition Department and Veterinary Academy. Under the MoU, both the institutions agreed to collaborate in joint research projects in the areas of human nutrition, information technology and research. UVAS will provide technical assistance to UHE in strengthening their research, innovation and commercialization activities.

They will jointly arrange conferences, seminars and amp; symposia and exchange of faculty members for research, lectures and discussion. They will share their lab, research facilities and equipment with each other. Both institutions will develop research proposals as well as will conduct joint research and development projects. The information related to mutual workshops, symposia and conferences will be shared with students and faculty of both institutions.

Beaconhouse Group Donates Rs 15 million for Flood Relief through the Mahmud Ali Kasuri Welfare Trust

Lahore, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Beaconhouse, Pakistan’s largest network of private educational institutions has made a Rs 15 million donation through its charitable wing, Mahmud Ali Kasuri (MAK) Welfare Trust, to assist flood affected families by aiding relief and reconstruction work in the worst-hit areas of Pakistan.

Beaconhouse has collaborated with Akhuwat Foundation to help flood affectees by distributing 2,000 ration bags worth Rs 10 million in DG Khan, Punjab; Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Khairpur and Thatta, Sindh; and Pasheen, Balochistan. These ration bags contain a variety of food items for approximately one month of sustenance for a family of six to seven individuals. Additionally, a contribution of Rs 5 million is being made through MAK Welfare Trust for the long-term rehabilitation of the affected areas.

Additionally, through the Premier Diverse Learning Concepts (PDLC) project that works for school improvement, Beaconhouse Group also provided shelter to 400 families at a government adopted school in Kolab Jial, Sindh, along with food supplies and basic healthcare facilities for a month.

A week-long donation drive for clothing and bedding was also organised across more than 1,100 campuses of Beaconhouse, The Educators and Concordia Colleges nationwide. The collections of these were donated to Akhuwat Foundation’s Clothes Bank.

IIUI holds seminar on message of Quaid

Islamabad, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Rector of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai has said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is a great leader whose honesty, hard work, academic ability and political understanding are examples of world history and world leaders have always acknowledged his vision.

Dr. Masoom, while addressing a seminar on “Message of Quaid e Azam and contemporary requirements” said that youth should make the best use of their time to enhance the country’s development through excellence in the field of education. The seminar was organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue, Department of Urdu, Department of Political Science and International Relations and Department of History and Studies of IIUI.

The keynote speaker Professor Dr. Ehsan Akbar said that Pakistan was achieved after great sacrifices and it was Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose efforts made it possible. He said that even today the Muslims living in India are suffering. Addressing the students, he further said that they should value Pakistan and learn the sacrifices of their forefathers by studying the history.

Among the speakers were the vice president Academics IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Allama Iqbal Open University’s professor and historian Dr. Abdul Basit Mujahid and chairman of Pakistan Studies at Islamia University Bahawalpur Dr. Aftab Hussain Gilani. The speakers shed light on Quaid-e-Azam’s efforts, vision and his practical life in detail and advised the students to follow the guiding principles and teachings of Quaid-e-Azam.
