FBS Established a Flood Relief Camp in Versity 

Faisalabad, September 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Because of the unprecedented rainfall in Pakistan, flash flooding has left millions of the people of Pakistan homeless, damaging their belongings. This created a catastrophic chaos which resulted in havoc and demanded national unity. For this national and social cause Faisalabad Business School of NTU along with NCS and SSDG initiated flood relief camp to collect donations for flood affectees. Students, faculty members, and staff of the university generously participated in this cause to bring the affected ones to the normal life.

Faisalabad, September 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):An awareness session regarding education in Jhughi’s was conducted in NTU in collaboration with Ghais Foundation by Community Service Society NTU and Visual Arts. Ghais foundation is the largest NGO in Pakistan providing fee education at the door step to the children of deprived portion of society.

Chairman Ghais Foundation Mubashir Husain Chand interacted with faculty and students to spread the awareness of the project. He urged everyone to participate in this project to make it more impactful. Community Service Society and faculty pledge to fully participate in the upcoming project of Jhughi model school in Faisalabad.

Visual Arts Society engaged little students in different activities and arranged visit to campus. Dr Sajjad Baig Dean FBS, Dr Danish Mehmood Advisor Students, Dr Shahzad Iqbal Convener Community Service, Dr Muzzamal Hussain Assistant Professor acknowledged the Ghais foundation and presented token of appreciation on behalf of NTU.

Dr Sammia Shahid Attends Michigan State University’s Visiting International Professional Program 

Lahore, September 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Dr Sammia Shahid Professor of Chemistry and Dean ORIC at the University of Management and Technology, Lahore attended Michigan State University’s Visiting International Professional Program. 25 senior university women leaders from diverse academic and leadership backgrounds from all over Pakistan attended a 2-week leadership development program at Michigan State University.

This program is a part of a two-year US Department of state-funded project aimed to address the equity gap in women’s higher education leadership in Pakistan. The group was formally welcomed to MSU and East Lansing by Dr Jerlando Jackson, Dean of the College of Education and East Lansing Mayor Pro Tem Jessy Gregg, East Lansing City Council Member.

The goal of this exchange program is to support the advancement of Pakistani women leaders in higher education by improving gender equity and enhancing women’s decision-making skills. The program provides the opportunity to network with women leaders at various US universities throughout the duration of the program.

The program builds the understanding that the extraordinary group of women will do great things and use the strategies they have learned in the USA not only in their own careers as scholars and academic leaders but also to continue the important work of building leadership opportunities for women in Pakistan.

MoU inked between UMT and Karakoram International University 

Lahore, September 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):An MOU for collaboration in the areas of joint research, exchange of faculty, capacity building and joint conferences was signed between the University of Management and Technology (UMT) and Karakoram International University (KIU). MOU signing ceremony was attended by various faculty and staff members of both institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Rector UMT Dr Asif Raza invited KIU faculty and staff to visit UMT during the winters for various academic activities. Rector KIU Dr Attaullah Shah expressed his full cooperation for joint activities and stated that KIU will be ready to welcome UMT faculty for teaching condensed courses at KIU during the summer.

CSO Organises Talk on Artificial Intelligence with Alethea AI

Lahore, September 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):On September 9, 2022, LUMS Career Services Office (CSO) hosted a Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology in collaboration with Alethea AI. The talk, hosted by Arif Khan – the Founder and CEO of Alethea AI, was primarily based on Intelligent Non-fungible tokens (iNFTs). Invented by Arif Khan himself, he talked about how iNFTs combine AI and NFTs in a decentralized protocol to create an Intelligent Metaverse inhabited by Interactive and Intelligent NFTs (iNFT).

Students from all fields of study attended the talk as it also focused on the impact of the tokens beyond just the technical aspects, such as its effect on marketing, businesses, and human behaviour. The talk ended with an extensive question-answer session where students presented some great metaphors to describe the technology and questioned the ethical and moral aspects of taking this tech public. Finally, Mr. Arif shared some vacancies at Alethea AI and encouraged the students to join the company.
