Chairman PPP and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in Swat and Kohat

Islamabad, September 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Swat and Kohat.

In his statement, Chairman PPP expressed his grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of 6 people, including the Aman Committee (peace committee) member Idris Khan and two policemen, in a remote-controlled bomb in Kabal Tehsil of the Swat district and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He has also strongly condemned the grenade attack by the terrorists on the police station in Kohat. He has prayed for the speedy recovery of the cops and civilians, including the SHO of Kohat Police Station, who were injured in both terror attacks.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the state will take a severe account of those who shed the blood of innocent citizens. “Pakistan has never and will never be a victim of expediency over the protection of its citizens and sovereignty”, he added.

IHHN-WHO set up emergency flood relief medical camps in Sukkur and Larkana

Karachi, September 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):From September 9 – 10, 2022, two emergency flood relief medical camps were jointly set up by WHO and Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN), in Larkana and Sukkur, Sindh. The camps treated a total of 2,761 vulnerable men, women, and children.

The medical camp, comprising of a primary health care clinic, antenatal clinic, pediatric clinic, vaccination station, and nutritional assessment and counselling station, distributed essential medicines and medical care to more than 500 flood-affected victims per day, who are severely exposed to waterborne diseases and countless other risks to their health and safety.

In addition to medical services, IHHN paramedical staff also provided ORS, hygiene kits, and over a hundred Community Engagement Counselling (CEC) sessions for hepatitis B, polio vaccination, rational drug use, and protection against prevalent illnesses. Dr. Mah Talat, Executive Director of Community Health Directorate, IHHN; was present at the Larkana camp to oversee the services provided to the affectees.

Being the largest charity healthcare network in Pakistan, Indus Hospital and Health Network is committed to serving victims of this catastrophic flooding in every nook and corner of the country. Moving forward, IHHN plans to set up additional disease-specific camps in other affected regions in all four provinces.

CM Ch Parvez Elahi chairs meeting to review anti-dengue measures 

Lahore, September 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has expressed deep concern over the increase in the number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Gujranwala and asked the authorities why anti-dengue preventive measures were not taken at that time when abnormal rains were predicted. The situation should be realized in time and an emergency strategy should be formulated, he said. He was presiding over a meeting at his office on Wednesday to review the situation and measures to control the disease.

While approving the establishment of a centre of disease control for the timely prevention of epidemic diseases, the CM directed that rescue 1122, health and line departments should give a final shape to the Act. The Punjab government will get the approval of the Act from the assembly for the establishment of a centre of disease control to prevent epidemics; he added and directed the formation of a committee. This initiative will help in the prevention of dengue, corona, cholera, typhoid and other epidemic diseases, he noted.

The chief minister ordered anti-dengue measures on a war footing throughout the province, especially in high-risk districts. He gave in-principle approval to make permanent the temporary staff for anti-dengue and directed that a summary should be submitted as per the rules for permanentizing them. He also ordered to buy fogging machines and asked the secretary of the local government department to do the needful within seven days and submit a report to him.

‘I would review anti-dengue steps regularly and the deputy commissioners should hold meetings daily and reports be sent to my office,’ he said. The work should be continued even during Sundays and other holidays, he added. Dengue patients should be given full attention in hospitals and necessary medical facilities be ensured; he stressed and ordered effective indoor and outdoor surveillance throughout Punjab, especially in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Gujranwala.
