A camp has been set up at Vasaib Hall Bahawalpur for fund raising to help the flood victims organized by the IUB

Bahawalpur, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):A camp has been set up at Wasib Hall for fund raising and distribution of relief items to help the flood victims organized by the Directorate of Alumni, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the Tafukur-wa-Chapter Bahawalpur. Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob along with Focal Person for Flood Victims Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, Director Alumni Dr. Azhar Hussain and Director Press Media and Publications Shehzad Ahmed Khalid visited this relief camp.

On this occasion, Masood Saber, head of the Bahawalpur Alumni Chapter, informed the Vice-Chancellor in a briefing that 5 lakh cash and relief materials have been collected so far and these goods will soon be handed over to the flood relief camp of the university to help the needy. Hamad Bashir, Vice President of Tafukur-wa-Chapter Alumni was also present on this occasion. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the initiative taken by Bahawalpur Alumni Chapter to help the flood victims and appreciated the efforts of Masood ​​​​Saber, Dr. Azhar Hussain, Hamad Bashir and Waqar Younis.

Punjab University student secures 3rd position in SPWLA 

Lahore, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Institute of Geology’s student Ms Bushra Mohsin has won 3rd prize at ‘Student Paper Contest’ organized by the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA), Stavanger, Norway. The SPWLA is an international non-profit organization. The purpose of the conference was to study, collect, preserve and disseminates information among persons professionally engaged or interested in the science of formation evaluation.

Ms Bushra Mohsin is the first female student who presented her research work in SPWLA and secured 3rd position in undergraduate category. The VC congratulated and appreciated the student on this achievement. Ms Bushra and her thesis fellow Muhammad Qasim Javed completed their BS research work under the supervision of Prof Dr Naveed Ahsan and Dr Muhammad Armaghan Faisal Miraj in 2021.

Eight Mosques will be constructed in all IUB campuses with the support of Saudi Embassy and Majlis-e-Islami Phulnagar

Bahawalpur, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Eight mosques will be built in all the campuses of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur with the special support of the Saudi Embassy and the cooperation of Majlis-e-Islami Phulnagar Pakistan. In this regard, the foundation stone of the first mosque was laid today at Abbasia Campus by Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University Bahawalpur. It is worth mentioning that thousands of students and employees will benefit from the establishment of mosques in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur with the support of the Saudi Embassy.

CM Parvez Elahi strongly protested against the federal government’s double standards of supplying wheat to other provinces while ignoring Punjab 

Lahore, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Punjab government has strongly protested against the federal government’s double standards for supplying wheat to other provinces while neglecting the needs of Punjab. Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has expressed his indignation at the behaviour of the federal government for not providing wheat to Punjab.

He has formally protested against this discrimination and said that the Punjab government will send a protest letter to the federal government in this regard. Parvez Elahi said that the federal government is step-motherly treating Punjab by not providing wheat to it. Several lakh tons of wheat have been lost due to rains and floods in Punjab and the federal government has not provided wheat despite Punjab’s request, he regretted.

Meanwhile, CM Parvez Elahi approved setting the support price of wheat at Rs. 3000 per maund and vowed that this increase will give the farmers full compensation for their hard work and the area under cultivation of wheat will also be increased next year. Parvez Elahi also ordered measures to stop the smuggling of wheat and flour and said that strict monitoring of the exit routes of the province should be ensured. He noted that the prices of wheat and flour are low in Punjab compared to other provinces.

The food department, together with the DPOs and deputy commissioners of the respective districts, should tighten the checking system at the exits, he added. Indiscriminate action should be taken against the elements involved in the smuggling of wheat, he said. The Punjab government has also decided to constitute a cabinet standing committee for wheat under the chief minister. Provincial Ministers Sardar Mohsin Leghari, Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak, Chief Secretary Kamran Afzal, secretaries of food, agriculture, and finance departments, former BoP president Hamish Khan and director food attended the meeting.

Asif Afridi provisionally suspended under PCB Anti-Corruption Code

Lahore, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Cricket Board, on 12 September 2022, provisionally suspended Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s left-arm spinner Asif Afridi with immediate effect under Article 4.7.1** of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code, which means that he cannot take part in any cricket-related activity, pending conclusion of the investigation being carried out by PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit.

Asif Afridi has today been issued a Notice of Charge for two breaches under Article 2.4 of the Code and has fourteen (14) days to respond to the charges.

As this is an ongoing investigation, the PCB will not make any further comment pending the outcome of this case.
