Punjab University pays tribute to Prof Dr Akram Shah 

Lahore, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University on Thursday organized a condolence reference to pay tribute to internationally acknowledged poet, writer, teacher, researcher and former Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning and Principal Oriental College Dr Syed Muhammad Akram Shah Ikram at Al Raazi Hall. On this occasion, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Iranian Consul General Muhammad Reza Nazeri, former VC and PVC Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, eminent writer Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakaria, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Moeen Nizami, faculty members and eminent personalities from the field of literature participated in the event.

In his address, Dr Niaz said that Dr Akram Shah had all the qualities of an excellent teacher and researcher. He said that Dr Shah had high moral values and strength of character. He said that Dr. Shah reflected his knowledge in his character which all teachers should emulate. He said that the Iranian Consul General was playing an important role in strengthening the relations between Pakistan and Iran. He said that Dr. Akram Shah created vast knowledge in literature and his Encyclopedia of Islam was a great masterpiece. He said that Dr. Akram Shah also became the first honorary member of the Academy of Letters outside Iran which is a great honour indeed.

Iranian Consul General Muhammad Raza Nazeri said that Iran’s spiritual leader Honourable Ayatollah Khamenei had also appreciated the work of Dr. Shah. He said that Dr. Shah’s work on Maulana Rumi would always be remembered. He said that Dr. Shah produced the best students. He said that many high-ranking officials and literary personalities of Iran had condoled the sad demise of Dr Shah, expressed their condolence with his family and prayed for the elevation of his ranks. He said that it was an honour to organize the event in honour of Dr. Shah. He said that Iran respected Dr. Shah a lot because he played an important role in the promotion of Persian literature.

Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakria said that after tireless work, he covered all the concepts of Allama Iqbal’s poetry and published three volumes of Daira-e-Muarif-e-Iqbal. He said that Dr. Shah treated his friends at his best. He said that Iranians also appreciated the Persian poetry of Dr. Shah. He said that Dr. Akram Shah was a great scholar, teacher, researcher and poet. He had an exemplary personality. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar said that it was an honour that Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the work of Dr. Shah. He said that Dr. Akram Shah played an important role in introducing Iqbal to the world.

He said that Dr. Shah was the best speaker and true lover of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW). He said that Dr. Shah worked on a salary of eight thousand per month even in the present era. He kept doing it and when he became the dean, came to know the fact and sent a letter to fix his salary at least 50 thousand, Dr Shah expressed his displeasure and requested to reduce his salary. He said that Dr Shah used to keep record of official copy and pencil too. He said that Dr. Akram Shah was the saint of the time. Later, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Moeen Nizami thanked the participants and offered Fateha for the departed soul.

Workshop on “Advanced data analysis through Structural Equation Modeling on AMOS” 

Lahore, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Institute of Applied Psychology organized a 6-hours long credited Workshop on “Advanced data analysis through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) on AMOS”. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Ghulam Ishaq, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Institute of Southern Punjab, Multan.

Dr. Ghulam Ishaq started off by sharing the basics of SEM, it’s types and how the advanced methods are different from the conventional data analysis methods. Through the hands-on training, he elaborated the steps as well as common issues faced using SEM. Director Institute of Applied Psychology, Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique thanked Dr. Ghulam Ishaq for the training and at the end of the 6-hours’ interactive workshop Dr. Rafia, distributed the certificates among the participants.

ICC issues RFP for Sports Presentation Management Services 

Dubai, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The ICC has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Sports Presentation Management Service providers. ICC requires the services of a provider who will be able to manage sports presentation requirements for the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa.

This RFP is intended to attract responses from companies with extensive experience in providing similar services, and with the capability to deliver to a world-class standard.

Following the RFP process, companies will be notified if their submission was successful.

Pakistan and Hong Kong to compete in a T20I for the first time 

Dubai, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Babar Azam will lead Pakistan against Hong Kong in the last group match of ACC T20 Asia Cup 2022 on Friday in Sharjah. This will be the first match between the two teams in the shortest format.

Pakistan’s opening pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are currently placed at the first two spots in the ICC T20 Batters Rankings.

Pakistan is confident of clinching a place in the Super 4 stage of the tournament by defeating Hong Kong, who were beaten by table-toppers India on Wednesday in Dubai.

Pakistan lost a nail biter against India on Sunday as well.

Fakhar Zaman: “It was a tight game against India, the morale is high in the camp and all our players are confident of doing better in the upcoming game.

“T20 is a short format which provides an equal opportunity for both teams to show-case their strengths. To aim for the Super 4 we have to ensure we minimise our errors and put up a good show.

“Hong Kong has played good cricket in the qualifiers but we will try to stick to our plans.

“The weather is hot here in UAE but we are trying to keep ourselves hydrated. We’ll be playing against some competitive teams in Super 4 and for that we need to be in perfect shape.

The match will be played at the historical Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Chief Secretary Sindh Highlights the Need for Skills Development 

Karachi, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Human Resource Research and Development Board (BBSHRRDB) conducted the 14th phase of the BBSHRRDB. It was organized in collaboration with the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi. The BBSHRRDB, a four-month training program, was held from February to May 2022. The certificate distribution ceremony was held on August 30, 2022, at IoBM.

Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput, Chief Secretary Sindh was the Chief Guest. Mr. Shariq Ahmed, Secretary BBSHRRDB and Ms. Uzma Ismail, Director BBSHRRDB were also present. Through the BBSHRRDB as many as 200 students were given training in graphic designing, e-commerce, social media marketing and information technology.

Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput was hopeful that the youth of Pakistan will add value to the country’s economy if they are provided with opportunities to learn and grow. He said that the program can include courses related to block chain and cyber security among others. He stressed the importance of investing in the youth’s capacity-building initiatives. He appreciated IoBM’s efforts in conducting this program.

President IoBM, Mr. Talib Karim said that we must focus on developing the youth for they are our future. BBSHRRDB is a welcome step in providing avenues for the youth to learn skills in their fields of interest. Director CIT, IoBM, Dr. Imran Batada emphasized the hard work of the faculty who imparted career-oriented, industry-centric training to the students through the BBSHRRDB.

He advised the youth to invest in themselves by enhancing their learning. Mr. Shariq Ahmed, while sharing the philosophy of the program, said that it provides avenues for the youth to acquire skills and generate income so they may establish their start-ups. Ms. Uzma Ismail appreciated the efforts made by the training partners to make BBSHRRDB a success. She was hopeful that this program will continue to provide skills to the youth of Pakistan.
