Russian Consul General visits IoBM

Karachi, August 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Russian Consul General in Karachi, H.E Mr. Andrey Viktorovich Fedorov visited the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) on August 10, 2022. During his talk, he shed light on Pakistan-Russia diplomatic ties and how they have evolved over the last many years. Mr. Fedorov shared that Russia has offered several scholarships to Pakistani students. He highlighted the changing trends in diplomacy and the geopolitical status of various regions and how they will impact Central Asia, South Asia, and Europe.

Earlier, in his Welcome Address, President IoBM, Mr. Talib Karim shared that the talk by H.E Mr. Andrey Fedorov will bring to light a better understanding of the Russian culture and traditions. He added that IoBM has created an academic linkage with the Institute of Business Studies in Moscow. He was hopeful that IoBM will continue to invite Russian dignitaries to share ideas, research, and information.

IoBM will also revive its student exchange program with Russia, President IoBM said. Professor Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean, College of Economics and Social Development (CESD), IoBM shed light on the economic, social, and political relations between third world countries and Western nations. Dr. Nadia Ayub, Associate Dean, CESD, gave the vote of thanks. This event was organized by IoBM’s CESD and Entrepreneurship and Management Excellence Center (EMEC).

The Team University of Turbat qualified for Semi-final in T-10 League 2022 

Turbat, August 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Turbat’s team qualified for the semi-final in All Balochistan Inter-Universities T-10 League 2022 by beating the University Law College Quetta team by twenty-four runs in a quarter-final match played here on 10th August 2022 at Bolan Cricket Stadium (BCS) Quetta.

Batting first, Sohail Shoaib’s 48 runs off 24 balls and Salman Naik’s 21 runs off 15 balls helped the Team UoT to set a competitive total of 107 runs for the loss of four wickets on the scorecard in the allotted ten overs. This was the 6th consecutive victory of the team UoT in the event.

Chasing a target of 108 runs, the University Law College team was reduced to 83 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted ten overs. With some lethal bowling by Beezan (2/08), Sohail Shoaib 2/22, and Jalal Hussain 1/11, the team UoT inflicted a handsome 24-runs defeat on the University Law College team. Shah Rukh and Ayaz Khan of University Law College scored 32 and 10 runs respectively. Sohail Shoaib from the team UoT was declared man of the match.

Diamond Jubilee Independence Day celebrations at DSU 

Karachi, August 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):As a sequel to the Diamond Jubilee Independence Day celebrations, AAJ NEWs did their Talk Show Sawal Hai Pakistan Ka at DHA Suffa University.

IIUI invites Online Applications for Visiting Faculty till August 21

Islamabad, August 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):International Islamic university has launched a mechanism for submission of online applications of part time teaching or visiting faculty where applications can be submitted till 21st of August, 2022.

A google form on the Job portal of the university for the said purpose has been launched wherein following information from the applicants shall be mandatory:

Name, CNIC, Gender, Contact No, Email, faculty/Department, specialization, interest in Teaching (Courses) and attached CV of the Applicant.

Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Raja Jahangir Anwar visited IUB on the occasion of 75th Independence Day

Bahawalpur, August 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Raja Jahangir Anwar has said that freedom is a blessing and Pakistan is God’s gift. As common citizens we all can play our role for the development and wellbeing of this country. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is a great asset of the region which plays a key role in the educational development of the region. Commissioner Bahawalpur expressed these views while addressing a seminar in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur today in connection with the 75th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence.

During his visit, he also visited the Central Admission Office along with Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob. On this occasion, a special national song prepared by the students of the university was also launched by the Nazria-i-Pakistan Society Directorate of Students Affairs. Raja Jahangir Anwar while addressing the teachers and students said that we should have positive and optimistic thoughts for Pakistan and work for a bright future. As a common citizen we can do things that have far-reaching consequences.

Common people can actively participate in the development of the country through high moral values, cleanliness and sanitation and plantation. He said that efforts are being made to spread disappointment regarding the dear motherland Pakistan, while the reality is that Pakistan’s 75 years of achievements are more. We as a nation have achieved many things in 75 years and today’s Pakistan is one of the most important countries in the world. He said that Bahawalpur division is located in the center of Pakistan and 52% of the country’s cotton, 17% of wheat, and 28% of sugarcane are produced in Bahawalpur.

He said that with the cooperation of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and common citizens, 34 million trees will be planted and the temperature of Bahawalpur will be reduced by 2 degrees. He said that under the leadership of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, the university is developing in a vigorous manner and the district administration is getting full support of the university in the beautification of the city and other important issues.

Earlier, Commissioner Bahawalpur along with the Vice Chancellor reviewed the central admission campaign and discussed with the students who got admission in the first merit list.

He appreciated the state-of-the-art admission portal and one-window admission among other facilities. On this occasion, Director IT Rizwan Majeed said that due to the excellent admission facilities, the number of male and female students in Islamia University Bahawalpur has increased from 13 thousand to 57 thousand and 15 to 17 thousand new admissions will be provided in the recent admission campaign.

Tech Valley and Beaconhouse sign MoU to digitise education for Leaders of Tomorrow! 

Lahore, August 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Beaconhouse, a global network of private schools and institutes educating over 315,000 students in seven countries, has partnered with Tech Valley, an innovative digital consulting firm and trusted country partner of Google for Education in Pakistan. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two parties in Lahore to work towards incorporating different Google technologies in Beaconhouse schools, carrying forward its mission to inculcate global best practices to improve education delivery.

Under this MoU, Tech Valley, with the support of international Google for Education teams, will assist Beaconhouse in procuring and incorporating Chromebooks for their programmes such as Homebridge and the inception of the Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) model on their campuses. Additionally, Tech Valley will conduct trainings for teachers and admin staff to help them effectively utilise Google technologies such as Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ali Ahmed Khan, Chief Operating Officer of Beaconhouse, said, “Beaconhouse is extremely delighted to work with the Google for Education team and its local partner, Tech Valley. As the first education sector partner, we are excited to kick off this project and empower our students with Google tools and devices.”

Umar Farooq, CEO, Tech Valley, noted that as a local partner of Google for Education in Pakistan, their goal is to revolutionise the education sector of Pakistan by empowering students, teachers, and administrators with a simple solution for fast, intuitive, and easy-to-manage computing through Chromebooks. The aim of this project is to equip students and teachers with the latest devices and acquaint them with technology through an easier and more flexible education model. Undoubtedly, it is time to move away from the traditional learning style and adopt technologies to help students adapt to the dynamic high-tech environment.
