CEMBians celebrate 75th Independence Day 

Lahore, August 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Diamond Jubilee of Pakistan was celebrated at Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology in full zeal and high spirits. All scientific and Para-Scientific Staff participated in the flag hoisting ceremony. National anthem was played on this occasion. This was followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran.

On this event, Director, CEMB Prof Dr Kausar Malik said “Freedom is a blessing of Allah SWT and when it is in the form of an ideological state like Pakistan, then the blessing is a special endowment. On this Independence Day, we should remember all those who have sacrificed for our freedom. We should not take our freedom, physical and spiritual, for granted as our forefathers paid a heavy price to fetch independence to our nation”.

Punjab University marks 75th Independence Day 

Lahore, August 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):In connection with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Punjab University New Campus outside the Vice Chancellor’s office. PU Vice Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmad hoisted the national flag. In the ceremony, Chairman Admission Committee Dr. Javed Iqbal Qazi, deans including Dr. Mubasher Manwar Khan, Dr. Moin Nizami, teachers, employees, students and a large number of children participated enthusiastically.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Niaz Ahmad paid rich tribute to those who sacrificed everything for the establishment of Pakistan and said that the establishment of Pakistan was not possible without their efforts and sacrifices. He said that the guiding principles of faith, unity and discipline given by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah needed to be followed for the development of Pakistan. He said that the Pakistan Army had strengthened the defense of the country and our forces sacrificed their lives for the sake of Pakistan.

Dr. Niaz Ahmad said that Pakistan’s social and judicial systems were very strong and our judiciary was independent. He said that the politicians of Pakistan gave Constitution to the country. Dr. Niaz Ahmad said that the teachers, employees and students should play their active role in the development of the country. He said that today is the day of renewal of pledge for every Pakistani to play his full role in the development of Pakistan.

He said that unless Pakistan was economically strong, we would not be able to take major decisions with more independence. He said that there was a dire need for reforms in higher education, agriculture and various other sectors. He said that Punjab University had played its role in the creation of Pakistan and its development. At the end of the ceremony, prayers were offered for the country’s safety and development. Later, Vice Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmad visited Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum and offered Fatiha.

Flag-hoisting ceremony at Punjab University at 8am

Lahore, August 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):In connection with Independence Day the flag-hoisting ceremony will be held on Sunday (today) August 14, 2022 at 8am outside Punjab University Vice Chancellor’s office at Quaid-e-Azam Campus. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed will hoist the national flag while faculty members, employees and students will also attend the ceremony.

I-Day celebrations at Punjab University 

Lahore, August 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Library has organized a poster exhibition on the theme of “Azadi and 14th August” along with a farewell party for its Library interns. The exhibition was arranged as a project assignment for the students of the library and information sciences departments of Punjab University and University of Sargodha. Seventeen students of both the universities were provided practical trainings on conventional and digital services of the library during two months internship program.

The program was specially designed to enhance the students’ IT-based skills i.e. web designing and creating digital OPAC along with stirring administrative and personality skills including communication, critical analysis, presentation and lifelong reading habits. The students admired the efforts of the library instructors and showed their full enthusiasm while working in the library. In his address, Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani said that his mission was to serve the community with all his means and abilities.

He said that majority of the librarians were giving their best to the academic community despite all economic and administrative hurdles in the system and he showed his belief that future librarians would not only carry on this mission but would paint a bright portrait of librarianship with their excellent skills. Punjab University Institute of English Studies Assistant Professor Dr Shahzeb Khan inaugurated the exhibition and praised the abilities of the students. He communicated with the students that how they could best play their role in the community and country development. The participants also cut the independence cake.

Similarly, in connection with the Independence Day Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance (HCBF) also organized an event in which the Principal Prof Dr Mubasher Munawar Khan hoisted the Pakistani flag. On this occasion faculty members and employees were present. Later, prayers were offered for the development and prosperity of Pakistan.

UVAS (KBCMA, CVAS) Principal Prof Dr M Younas Rana conferred Sitara-i-Imtiaz by President of Pakistan 

Lahore, August 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore`s sub-campus Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KBCMA CVAS) Narowal, Principal Prof Dr Muhammad Younus Rana has been conferred Tamga-i-Imtiaz civil award by President Dr Arif Alvi on the occasion of the Independence Day for his outstanding performance and showing excellence in the field of veterinary science. The investiture ceremony for the award will take place on Pakistan Day, March 23, 2023.

Prof Younus Rana was earlier conferred with Distinguished Leadership award international by USA in 2016. His picture also is a part of Hall of Fame in University of Minnesota, USA. He was awarded with Best University Teacher Award by the Higher Education Commission in 2014. He won 3 time research productivity award by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology Islamabad and 5 times excellence award by Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council Islamabad.

He is a PhD in Pathology and Public Health, Post Doc from USA. He have 26 years administrative, developmental, academic and research vast experience as well as Principal, Professor, Project Director, Chairman in the University Setup and as Deputy Director Planning and Development, Executive District Officer, District Livestock Officer and Coordinator in Livestock Department and International funded organizations etc.

He is successfully running 17 Projects (Developmental and Research) from National and International Funding Agencies of worth Rs: 7,000 million. He published 250 Research Publications including Abstracts have been published in Impact Factor and in HEC Recognized Journals. He also supervised/co-supervised 57 MPhil and 17 PhD students. He is author of 12 Books and 12 Book Chapters. During UVAS service he established 02 Livestock Complexes at Narowal District, established and developed University College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Jhang and developed University College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Narowal. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad lauded Prof Younas Services for the uplift of veterinary education and congratulated him on this achievement.

Between 2004 and 2019, 5% increase in the proportion of households that claim to have an air cooler; 10% more urban than rural households claim the same: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan Big Data Analytics on PSLM Surveys in Pakistan 

Islamabad, August 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Introduction to the Gallup and Gilani Pakistan Data Analytics series on PSLM Household Durables survey:

This press release is part of a special Gallup and Gilani Pakistan Data Analytics series that aims to foster an empirical understanding of the ownership of household durables scenario of Pakistan based on data generated by the PSLM survey.

This Gallup Big Data Analytics Report is based on a series of long-term surveys which measure ‘Living Standards in Pakistan’. The current data was collected from 33.34 million scientifically selected households spread out in the rural and urban areas of over 100 districts across Pakistan’s 4 provinces and other territorial units. The error margin is less than 2 percent at 95% confidence level.

PSLM (Pakistan Social and Living Standards Measurement) is a yearly survey conducted by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics to gather data from provincial and district levels to assist the government of Pakistan. It focuses on multiple social and economic factors. Gallup Pakistan Data Analytics team has worked extensively on this data and this series of press releases are our attempt to publicize the great efforts done by hundreds of office bearers of the Bureau of Statistics who have travelled far and wide to collect this data.

This particular press release aims to assess the availability of air cooler in Pakistan.

Data from PSLM reveals that overall, between 2004 and 2019, 5% increase in the proportion of households that claim to have an air cooler; 10% more urban than rural households claim the same.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the country was asked the following question regarding, “Do you have an air cooler?” In response to this question, proportion of Pakistani households that claim to own and cooler y between 2004-2005 was 8%, which increased till 2007 to 11%, then experienced a decline till 2014-2015 period and then rose again to 13% between 2018-2019.
