IIUI organizes Dua for Martyrs of Pak Army at Faisal Masjid 

Islamabad, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Dua for the departed souls of six Pakistani Army Officers and Soldiers including Quetta Corps Commander Lt. General Sarfraz Ali, Major General Amjad Hanif, Brig. Muhammad Khalid, Major Saeed Ahmed, Major M. Talha Manan and Naik Mudassar Fayyaz, who embraced martyrdom in a helicopter crash, were held here at the Shah Faisal Masjid, Islamabad.

It was attended by the Saudi Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, high ups and employees of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, leadership of International Islamic University (IIUI), faculty, employees and students as well as residents of twin cities and renowned personalities from all walks of life.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Director General, Dawah Academy, IIUI prayed for the departed souls of the Pakistan Army Officers and Soldiers. He also prayed for the peace and stability of the country and unity of the Muslim Ummah.

UVAS organised “Hands-on Training on Lab Animal Handling and Sample Collection” 

 

Lahore, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Physiology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore arranged a “Hands-on Training on Lab Animal Handling and Sample Collection” here at City Campus Lahore. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the concluding ceremony of the training and distributed certificates among participants and resource persons while Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Chairman Department of Physiology Dr Imtiaz Rabbani, Dr Sajid Khan Tahir and a number of participants of training including researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad urged that such training workshop must be arrange in future and mentioned more module to be add for upcoming batch related to reproductive physiology, small and large animal housing etc. He also appreciated the effort of the organizer to arrange this workshop on informative topic for students. Earlier, Dr Imtiaz Rabbani spoke about the objectives of the training. The aim of the training was to train undergraduate (final Year) and postgraduate students for lab animal handling and sample collection related to their research.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor inaugurates ‘Community Nutrition and Health Centre’

Lahore, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged nutrition assessment camp on Wednesday at City Campus. Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad inaugurated Community Nutrition and Health Centre (CN and HC) while Chairman (FSHN) Dr Sanaullah Iqbal, Incharge (CN and HC) Dr Qaisar Raza and a number of faculty members, lady health workers, students and women from civil society were present on the occasion.

While addressing the audience, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad highlighted the importance of nutrition, balanced diet and civic engagement activities for the betterment of public health. He lauded the services of Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) provided through Community Nutrition and Health Centre regarding the body composition analyzer related to anthropometrics and body composition analysis, bone mineral density test, blood pressure/blood glucose measurement, clinical observation, dietary history and nutrition education awareness to general public by the well-known nutritionists of UVAS. He also said this community centre is one of its kinds in Lahore which is at par or even better as compared to its contemporary facilities in the city.

Islamabad, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East and Africa (CAMEA) at ISSI represented by its Director, Ms Amina Khan and the Institute for Iran-Eurasia Studies (IRAS) represented by ​Dr. Mehdi Sanaei signed an MOU on August 03, 2022. Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Director General Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) briefed him on the working of the Institute and extended his commendation to both Centers and hoped that this association would produce quality research and dialogue for mutual benefit.

Dr. Mehdi Sanaei said that Pakistan and Iran are very important countries in the region and friendly ties between these countries are of utmost importance. He said that the entire team at IRAS looks forward to a fruitful partnership with both CAMEA and the Institute as a whole.

Ms Amina Khan, Director, CAMEA also spoke at the occasion emphasizing the need for shared responsibility, research and discourse to resolve the various issues that we all face. She hoped that this collaboration would benefit both sides for a better understanding of Afghanistan, Middle East and African region and that this would prove to be a long and fruitful partnership.

Report on Sustainable Developmental Goals 

Karachi, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by the United Nations back in 2015 to replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Nurses are working hard in achieving sustainable development goals for a better society in the future. Ziauddin University, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery (ZUFONAM) Community Stream organized a one-day session on ‘Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ on July 4th-5th, 2022 for students of BSN I and IV years who are future nurses. The presence of Madam Farhana Siddiqui and her team members made a great difference in the learning of SDGs for ZUFONAM students.

On the first day, Dr. Atif Anjum and Madam Farhana briefed students about the background and significance of SDGs to all 1st-year students. On the second day, Madam Farhana and Major Sadia Kanwal taught students about SDGs and gave them new ideas about what would they need to do and how would they work in the community.

In this 2nd-day seminar, 210 participants including the faculty members (Mr. Jonathan Johnson, Ms. Bilquis Alidino, Ms. Mashal Hirani, Ms. Gulshan, and Ms, Sahaar Bashir) and students attended the session. All participants made us proud and committed that they will work hard to achieve SDGs. It was an amazing, interesting, and learning experience with the Ziauddin University Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery.

Sir Syed University gets Brand of the Year Award 

Karachi, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) received the Brand of the Year Award in a ceremony organized by the Brands Foundation. Sir Syed University is the first university who got this prestigious award in recognition of its excellence in academic sector, says a university statement issued on Wednesday. The General Secretary Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA), Engr. Muhammad Arshad Khan, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Aamir also attended the event. Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali received the award on behalf of the university.
