Lahore, June 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):Dr. Arif Alvi, President of Pakistan has expressed his views while talking to Pakistani mountaineers, Mr Shehroze Kashif, Mr Sirbaz Khan, and Mr Abdul Joshi and highlighted the achievements of young Pakistani mountaineers through the media to project their potential and build a soft image of the country. The meeting was attended by the Secretary Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, Director General Pakistan Sports Board, President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP), and Secretary ACP.

Teacher Training Academy schedules five training sessions for the upcoming admission campaign

Lahore, June 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Teacher Training Academy (TTA) at the University of Lahore (UOL) has scheduled five training sessions from 7th-18th June, 2022 on “Customer Service Excellence” with the aim of training the admission staff for the upcoming UOL admission campaign.

The first session, led by Mr. Moeen Irfan (Director, TTA), took place on 7th-8th June, during which Prof. Dr. Ali Sajid (Director, Lahore School of Professional Studies (LSPS)) was invited as the trainer. Dr. Sajid shed light on improving the quality of admissions by putting forth some significant suggestions and enabled the staff to adopt positive behaviour towards admission seekers to yield good admission outcomes. At the end of the training session, certificates were distributed amongst the attendees.

Institute of Food Science and Technology organizes a seminar to mark World Food Safety Day 

Lahore, June 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University Institute of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences celebrated the World Food Safety Day by organizing an awareness seminar and panel discussion on “Safer Food, Better Health” in line with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 2 – Zero Hunger and SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being on June 9, 2022.

Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhtar (Director Institute of Food Science and Nutrition, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan) was the chief guest of the session while Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed (Associate Dean, FAHS), Dr. Shahid Bashir (Head of Department, University Institute of Food Science and Technology) along with other dignitaries from the food industry graced the event.

Chairman Board of Governors Mr. Awais Raoof addresses COMSTECH’s press conference on Yemeni fellowships 

Lahore, June 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):Mr. Awais Raoof (Chairman, Board of Governors, UOL) on June 13, 2022 along with H. E. Mr. Agha Hassan Baloch (Minister of Science and Technology), H. E. Mohammed Motahar Alashabi (Ambassador of Yemen to Pakistan), Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary (Coordinator General COMSTECH), Mr. Ali Sattar (Director, Science Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and other senior dignitaries addressed a press conference that centered on the COMSTECH-CCoE Yemen Program in Islamabad.

During the press conference, the COMSTECH- Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) Yemen Program in collaboration with the Yemen embassy and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Government of Yemen was announced. Under this program, fellowships will be given to Yemeni scientists to obtain training in public health and medical technologies.

Mr. Raoof highlighted the value of collaborations in science and technology fields and appreciated COMSTECH for launching this program. He also pledged to offer research and study opportunities to Yemeni students. The Minister of Science and Technology appreciated the generous offering of fully funded fellowships by the University of Lahore.

The Ambassador of Yemen extended his gratitude from the people of Yemen to the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the fellowships offering institutions. He assured full support of the Yemen embassy to this program.

NED University Gets UNESCO Chair on “Sustainable Urban Regions”

Karachi, June 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):It is a prestigious moment for NED University of Engineering and Technology which has been granted to establish the UNESCO Chair “Sustainable Urban Regions”. The agreement was signed on 16th June at UNESCO headquarter in Paris in the presence of the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi; and the Chief of Section, Capacity Building in Science and Engineering, Ms. Amal Kasry, and the Chief of Section, Science Policy and Partnerships Mr. Ezra Clark who both were representing the Director-General UNESCO Ms. Audrey Azoulay. At that auspicious moment, the Dean faculty of Chemical and Processing Engineering, Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh; Deputy Director, Quality Enhancement Cell Dr. Wasif Ahmed; Counsellor at Embassy of Pakistan, France and Deputy Permanent Delegate at UNESCO, Ms. Huzefa Khanum; and Press Counsellor of Embassy of Pakistan, France Mr. Danyal Saleem Gilani, were also present.

The university has nominated one of the Renowned architect and planner, Prof. Dr. Noman Ahmed as the chairholder. The chair will work in the collaboration with several national private and public sector universities, international universities, Public and Private sector organizations and industries to attain the SDG#11 in particular and allied SDGs in general. Under this several workshops, conferences, seminars, dialogues and capacity development programmes would be launched to train students, faculty members and professionals of the allied industries.

Under Graduate Education Policy in person training workshop concluded today in the University of Chitral 

Chitral, June 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):Directorate of ORIC, University of Chitral in collaboration with Higher Education Commission organized a training workshop for the faculty and staff of affiliated colleges where stress was on the implementation of the undergraduate policy regarding Associate Degree Programs and BS 4 Year program. The main purpose of the workshop was to improve the condition of teaching, learning, and research for enhanced access and quality.

The workshop was attended by faculty members of the University of Chitral and affiliated colleges. The occasion was graced by Dr. Taj Uddin Sharar, Provost, University of Chitral. He appreciated the efforts of Dr. Arshad Bashir, Consultant Academics, HEC, Islamabad, and his honourable guests in organizing the workshop. At the end of the workshop, a question answer session was also held. While in his welcome remarks, Dr. Muhammad Romman, Deputy Director ORIC, University of Chitral welcomed and thanked the guests and participants for their precious time and making the event successful.
