Lahore Business School hosts eminent alumni 

 

Lahore, June 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Career Management Cell (CMC) of Lahore Business School (LBS) organized an alumni week recently. Eminent LBS alumni took part in the event. They visited senior classes and shared their stories and experiences with the current students. In addition, the students asked questions about ongoing and in-demand job trends during the interactive sessions.

The former students who took part in this mega event included Mr. Ali Shabir (CEO, Marketing Studio), Ms. Fajar Saad (Manager, In8 limited), Mr. Iftikar Hanif (Communication Manager, Laam.pk), Mr. Muhammad Atta (CEO, Inventpeers), Mr. Naveed Lateef (Director, Advertising and Marketing, COTHM), Mr. Umair Majid (Market Development Executive, PepsiCo bottlers), Mr. Sami Tariq (Chief Marketing Officer, Strategia Solutions, LLC), Ms. Uzma Khan (Founder, Emplois Career), and Ms. Iqra Arshad (Group Lead HR, Taanabaana clothing brand).

Dr. Yasir Hasan (Team lead, Alumni Chapter, CMC) and other CMC members received the guests and had detailed conversations about their professional growth and the prevailing job market trends. Talking on the occasion Mr. Moazam Rauf (CMC Head) said that “The positive response from alumni is overwhelming, as a result, the CMC aims to make alumni week a permanent feature at LBS.” All the former students expressed their allegiance and love for their alma mater (LBS) and met their beloved teachers. In the end as a token of appreciation shields and souvenirs were given to all of them.

Faculty Development Session 3 

 

Lahore, June 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The third Session of Faculty Development was arranged on 27-05-22 by Mr Sarfraz Rashid, Assistant Professor, Department of Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain. Prof. Shafique Ahmed Uqaili, the Director/ Dean of the Business School, also attended the session with faculty members. He highly appreciated the Faculty Development initiative taken by Dr Raja Irfan Sabir, Head of Department.

Ms Fagiha Mazhar took the stage and shared the marvellous practical experience she has enjoyed in various industries, especially Retail Marketing.

While working overseas, she took up cultural challenges to learn diversified experiences, which contributed meaningfully when she started teaching. Her insights ignited a healthy debate among faculty, giving fruitful thoughts for improving pedagogy. The session was closed with praiseworthy remarks from Director/ Dean of Business School Professor Shafique Ahmed Uqaili for the School’s growth and prosperity.

World Food Safety Day 2022 Event 

Lahore, June 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):On 9 June 2022 – the Department of Food Science and Technology organized an event on World Food Safety Day with the theme of “Safer Food, Better Health”. The event comprised a food safety awareness walk, a Poster and Model competition, and a seminar. The dignitaries from the university and FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Ltd participated in the awareness walk and then evaluated the students’ posters and models. Afterwards, worthy guest Dr M. Nasir, Dean Dr H Rizwana Kausar and HOD Dr Raza Hussain chaired the seminar.

The seminar commenced with the welcome address by Dean FOST, followed by the event preamble by HOD FST. The seminar then proceeded with the awareness talk of Dr Muhammad Nasir, General Manager FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Ltd, on “No Food is Nutritious till Safe” Dr Nasir enlightened about the current status of Food Safety in Pakistan and the modifications required in terms of compliance to the international food laws.

Contrary to it, he also elucidated the global situation of food safety and its relation with food borne illnesses and malnourishment. Afterwards, the students and faculty members participated in the question-answer session. Finally, the worthy HOD awarded the guests souvenirs. Then the positions in Poster and Model competition were announced, and certificates were distributed among the position holders; Dr Nasir appreciated the efforts of all students and also announced gifts from Friesl and Campina Engro Pakistan Ltd for the position holders. Finally, Dr Kanza Aziz Awan concluded the ceremony by thanking the guests, faculty members and students for their active participation in the event.

Supply Chain Management arranges a seminar on Business Logistics 

Lahore, June 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The faculty members of the Supply Chain Management Cluster at the Lahore Business School (LBS) arranged a seminar on “Imtiaz Supermarket”-Secret of a credible retail supply chain on May 13, 2022 at the Defence Road Campus. A supply chain is a network of entities and people that work directly and indirectly to move a good or service from production to the final consumer.

The session aimed at spreading applied knowledge of retail supply chain and to provide an opportunity for the final semester students to engage themselves with the successful corporate expert, Mr. Muhammad Muzammil (Regional Manager of Warehouse and Logistics at Imtiaz Super Market).

Mr. Muzammil having an excellent experience of more than 22 years, worked with different corporate organizations including Dawn Bread, Himont Pharmaceuticals, Abudawood Pakistan, and IBL Group and transformed their supply chains in huge success. He is an expert in standard logistics software and SAP implementation. Moreover, he is also proficient in the fields such as Planning, Logistics Management, Warehousing, Transportation, and customer services.

He is agile in handling complex business situations while planning and managing all the supply chain functions effectively and efficiently. He is also an expert in generating substantial cost economies in Logistics and dispatch operations, SAP Implementation, SAP Training (SD-FI-MM), SAP Troubleshooting, Key Accounts Management, Warehouse Operations, Vendor Management, Contract Management, and Team Management.

He courteously discussed different possible functions in the supply chain of Imtiaz Super Market and shared his knowledge about how things work and all the key supply chain practices that have skyrocketed the growth of Imtiaz Supermarket in Punjab with in a time span of less than 5 Years.

The whole session was full of terminologies and jargons that the students have studied throughout their degree. The audience was enlightened by the truth that the academics will be highly applicable in practical and professional life. The session mitigated the gap between academic and professional life.

The discourse contained practical knowledge about steps of the Supply Chain Planning, Inventory Management during COVID-19, Inbound and outbound logistics, transportation, SAP usage for storage management, LIFO, FIFO and FEFO techniques, Suppliers management, Material Requirement Planning, Replenishment during peak seasons such as Shaban and Ramzan, 3PLs, Forecasting, Put away process, Days of Cover (DOC), Visibility and Transparency for quality assurance and Procurement of products from Poonam. In the end Miss. Shuja presented a shield to the guest speaker followed by a group picture.
