All Pakistan Sports Event 2022

Swabi, June 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):GIK Sports Society under the Student Affairs Department organized All Pakistan Sports Event 2022. All Pakistan Sports Event was successfully conducted on 20th, 21st and 22nd of May 2022. It was a 3 day event in which Universities from all over Pakistan participated in the sports activities in GIK Institute. The sports event included Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Long Tennis, Squash, Snooker, Chess etc. The sports game comprised of both male and female teams.

There were more than 250 participants in the All Pakistan Sports Event 2022. The teams that participated in the events came from different cities of Pakistan including Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi, Swabi etc. Some of the teams were from universities including LUMS Lahore, NUST Islamabad, FAST Islamabad, IBA Karachi, LSE Lahore, IMSciences Peshawar etc. The winning teams/participants were given certificates, shields etc.

Anti-Tobacco Awareness Seminar by The Student Affairs Department

Swabi, June 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Mr Sabahat Hussain, Assistant Director Student Affairs/Student Affairs Department assisted by the Project Topi and Character-Building Society had organized an Awareness seminar on Anti-Tobacco. In this regard a team from Shaukat Khanam Hospital along with the Regional Manager of Shaukat Khanam Hospital Peshawar delivered a session on the negative consequences of Tobacco on Friday 27th May 2022. Dr Muhammad Imran Khan Dean Student Affairs, Mr Muhammad Faheem Akhtar Director Admissions and Examinations, Mr Muhammad Ismail Director Facilitation, Mr Muhammad Waqas DD Admissions and Examinations were the special invitee in the seminar. Mr Muhammad Faheem Akhtar graced the seminar with the closing remarks.

With more than 8 million people falling prey to Tobacco induced mortality; Tobacco remains the single most preventable cause of ailment and dissolution. This session also marked the “World No Tobacco Day”, formally observed annually on the 31st of May. Smoking increases the risk of at least twenty different kinds on cancers. Nearly 40% of cancers in adult males seen at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH and RC) can be linked to the use of tobacco while 160,000 people die from tobacco related cases annually in Pakistan.

Tobacco use is the single most preventable cause of cancer and education of public related to prevention of cancer is an important part of the mission of SKMCH and RC. To make this mission successful, Shaukat Khanum Hospital conducted Anti-Tobacco Awareness sessions for the students/faculty/staff of GIK Institute along with the Shaukat Khanum. Anti-Tobacco Awareness Walk was also carried out to empower young students with life-saving knowledge to fight tobacco related cancers.

Maternity Unit inaugurated in MCH UC Safoora

Karachi, June 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister for Health and Population Welfare, Sindh, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho inaugurated a newly constructed Maternity Unit at the Mother and Child Healthcare facility in Safoora Goth, Karachi. DG Health, Dr. Juman Bahoto, OIC, Chief Field Office, UNICEF, Ms. Vanessa Lee and other representatives of WHO and UNICEF were also in attendance.

In a collaboration with UNICEF and WHO, a newly constructed MCH facility has been constructed in Safoora Goth. The center will provide 24/7 delivery care and is also equipped with 2 delivery tables, standby warmer, CTG, Steamer, Suction machine, Oxygen Concentrator, Electric and Gas Autoclave, and Ultrasound.

There is also an ambulance that is equipped with oxygen masks for adults and babies. The institute is pending its own solar powered back up as well. The MCH will be catering to approximately two UCs (12 and 13) which can ensure that a sizable population of the city will have accessible healthcare for mother and child health needs.

More than three-quarters (76%) of the global population compared to 66% of Pakistanis consider that technology is very important in their lives: Gallup Pakistan and WIN World Survey report released

Islamabad, June 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):According to a Gallup Pakistan Survey in Pakistan (and similar surveys done by Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research (WIN) across the world), more than three-quarters (76%) of the global population compared to 66% of Pakistanis consider that technology is very important in their lives.

These findings emerge from an international survey conducted across the globe by The Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research (WIN) – a global network conducting market research and opinion polls in every continent. WIN International has published the Annual WIN World Survey (WWS – 2021), exploring the views and beliefs of 33,236 individuals, among citizens from 39 countries across the globe. On International Technology Day, WIN releases the latest results of the survey, to understand the concerns of sharing personal Information via digital platforms. The fieldwork for Pakistan was conducted between 15th October and 18th December 2021 and the sample size was 1000 individuals.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the world were asked the following question. “How Important is technology in your life?” In response to this question in Pakistan, 41% said extremely important, 25% said very important, 20% said slightly important, 11% said not important at all and 3% didn’t know or gave no response.
