HEC Need Based Scholarship Program, The University of Haripur, 2022-23 

Haripur, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):

Scholarships are offered for:

1. All Students of Undergraduate Programs. (Semester 01 to Semester 07)

2. Toppers, Sibling, Disable, orphan’s students are specially encouraged to apply.

3. Applicants must ensure to have CGPA of 2.50 or above in all semesters.

4. Monthly Household salary from all resources should not be more than PKR 45,000/.

5. Students who have applied for other scholarships and not yet selected are also advised to apply. (The scholarship committee will decide after interview regarding which scholarship is suitable for the applicant according to its need).

Ineligibility Conditions:

1. Student of Diploma, Associate Degree, M.Sc, M.Phil, PhD are not eligible.

2. Student availing any other scholarship are not eligible.

3. Students of BS semester 08 are not eligible to apply.

Procedure

1. Go to University of Haripur website www.uoh.edu.pk, then Downloads, then Scholarship form, then HEC Need Base Scholarship form 2022-23.

2. Download, Print, Fill, complete all 06 pages and attach all below mentioned documents which are shown on page number 02.

3. Sign last page from your department HOD / focal person of scholarships.

4. Before Submission of hard forms in office of Student Financial Aid again go to website www.uoh.edu.pk, News and events and there will be news of HEC Need Base Scholarship 2022-23. Click on that news and at the last of that page, there will be an ONLINE LINK https://forms.office.com/r/1maSgpFWHN

5. Last date is 15-06-2022.

Important Note for Income document

If the father / mother / guardian is,

1. Govt. employee, then his / her pay slip. o Pensioner, then his / her pension slip.

2. Private job like shopkeeper, driver, mechanic, farmer etc, then go to Go to University of Haripur website www.uoh.edu.pk, then

3. Downloads, then Scholarship form, then Private income certificate for HEC Need Base Scholarship

4. Download, print and photocopy this certificate on Rs. 100 stamp paper and then write with ball pen on this stamp paper.

18. In case of death of father. Attach Death certificate copy

19. In case if candidate is living in rented house, then the proofs/documents showing that house is owned by the other owner.

1. Hard Form and Soft Online form, both are compulsory.

2. In case if any student applies online and does not submit Hard Form in Student Financial Aid Office, then such students will not be called for interview. As Interview will be taken from hard form by the committee.

Tribute paid to ex-captain of Pakistan Hockey team Hanif Khan

Karachi, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) and Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT) appointed the renowned Olympian Hanif Khan as Sports Consultant to promote sports activities at the campus. The ceremony was held by the Sports Department to pay tribute to the former captain of Pakistan National Hockey Team, Hanif Khan that was attended by Mubashir Mukhtar, Ahmed Alam, Dr Majid, Nasir Ali, Pervez Iqbal and others.

Speaking on the auspicious occasion, the noted Olympian, Hanif Khan said, “Actions speak louder than the words. I am a man of action. Right now, I have nothing much to say about but soon I will prove my worth with my work and performance. I wish to prepare a brigade of skilled players who may contribute to Pakistan at national and international level.

Chancellor SSUET, Jawaid Anwar said, “We need to separate sport from politics that is constantly damaging Pakistan’s sports. Political interference in games affected the quality of sports. Whereas, selection on merit enhances the quality of performance in games and increase the productivity in sports activities. I hope that this alliance will help to produce good students, good players and good human being. Sports make you able to bear the defeat and to rejoice victory.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said that Sir Syed University took initiative to make an alliance with the real sportsmen. The university not only participated in games at regional and national level but also organized the sports events for Higher Education Commission and Government. Induction of Hanif Khan in our team ensures a great achievement with result-oriented output.

Convenor Aligarh Institute of Technology, Engr. Muhammad Arshad Khan said that sports keep youth involved in positive and healthy activities. Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali said that Sir Syed University gives importance to the sports and offers maximum facilities to the players.

To improve the quality of sports we have included the experienced Hanif Khan in our team. Chairman Karachi Hockey Association, Gulfraz Khan, said that it is the start of a new journey. We assure you to keep the sports out of politics. We have a good infrastructure and needed youth that will be available by the university. Convenor Sports, Qazi Nasar said, “We are trying to establish Sports Centre at the campus and to improve the quality of games. Nasir Ali, Olympian Ahmed Alam, and Haider Hussain, also spoke on the occasion.

SMIU organizes a workshop on “Learn: How to Create CRUD Applications from Scratch using Java” 

Karachi, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Department of Computer Science and Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of SMIU jointly organized a workshop on “Learn: How to Create CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) Applications from Scratch using Java,” on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Senate Hall of the university.

More than 100 students of various IT departments of SMIU including Department of Computer Science, Department of Software Engineering and Department of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences; participated in the workshop, which was held in two shifts.

Mr. Irfan Ali Kandhro, PhD Scholar, who also works as a lecturer in Department of Computer Science of the university conducted the workshop. He talked on the core objectives of Java programming language with Database Management System (DBMS) in detail. He elaborated that how these programming languages differ from other high level programming languages like C and C++. “This kind of comparative study helps students to get a clear idea about different programming languages,” he said.

Kandhro said the objective of workshop was to provide hands on experience to students with Java programming and its object-oriented features and this workshop will help them in learning the writing, compiling and execution of Java programs and building robust applications by using Java’s object-oriented features. Thus, it will help the students to empower themselves with programming skills and related knowledge.

Also, the aim of the workshop was to boost competency of students, prepare them to compete in the technologically driven job environment, and enable them to develop and implement innovative solutions to the programming languages issues. During the session, CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) operations were practically taught to the students.

Chairman HEC shares vision on higher education development in Pakistan

Islamabad, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) organized a seminar on “Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) Policies for Enhancing Higher Education in Pakistan” having Dr. Tariq Banuri, Chairman HEC as an invited speaker. The event was held on 11 May 2022 at Jinnah Auditorium, NUST Islamabad Campus and Rector NUST, Lt. Gen. (R) Engr. Javed Mahmood Bukhari, HI (M), graced the event as chief host. The event was a collaboration of IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society, Antenna and Propagation Society, Electromagnetic Compatibility and Interference society and Circuits and Systems (CAS) society joint chapter at SEECS and IEEE Educational Activities, Islamabad Section.

Dr. Nosherwan Shoaib, the faculty member of SEECS, welcomed the guests and participants and highlighted the importance of core policies to stimulate and strengthen the academia and research culture in Pakistan. The invited speaker, Dr. Tariq Banuri, delivered a detailed talk on HEC vision for enhancing higher education in Pakistan. He stressed that the quality-based education and research system are vital in transforming the current higher education culture in Pakistan. He shared the initiatives that HEC has taken to improve the higher education structure in Pakistan.

In addition to the invited talk, there was an interactive session in which students and faculty asked policy-related questions to the Chairman. The event was concluded with the concluding remarks by Principal SEECS, Air Vice Marshal Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan, SI (M). He has thanked the Chairman HEC and affirmed the support of NUST to improve the quality of the academia-research system for universities.

Electrical Engineering’s workshop boosts the professional development of young engineers 

Lahore, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Recently, the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Student Branch (SB), the University of Lahore (UOL) organized a 1.0 CPD Credit Point based workshop on “Mastering LaTeX”. Engr. Dr. Ghulam Abbas (HoD, EE) graced the event as a chief guest, whereas Engr. Muhammad Bilal Saqib (Assistant Professor, EE) became a part of this workshop as a keynote speaker. A total of 30 participants gained hands-on experience by performing various tasks on the computer systems using the LaTeX software.

The workshop was aimed at boosting the professional development of all the attending engineers and equipping them with the skills to use LaTeX software. The workshop trained the attendees on using LateX files to define document class and layout options, the use of tabular and array environments within LaTeX documents, how to define and use new commands within the software, the use of theorems and corollaries and its usage in generating and maintaining bibliographic information.

Later, Engr. Muhammad Arslan Shahid (Lecturer, Department of Electrical Engineering) shared the information about future events and wrapped up the workshop. Dr. Abbas also gave his closing remarks and distributed the certificates amongst the participants.
