University College of Medicine and Dentistry bids farewell to the graduating class 

Lahore, May 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University College of Medicine and Dentistry (UCMD) offers one of the most forward-looking educational environs in Medicine and Dentistry in the country. Recently, the class of fourth-year MBBS arranged a glamorous farewell ceremony for the graduating class of final year MBBS. The celebrations were held in the scenic UOL courtyard which was decorated which absolute beauty. HoDs, Faculty members and students marked their presence at the auspicious event.

The colourful evening was organized and facilitated by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) in collaboration with members of UCMD including Mr. Muhammad Muneeb Ali (CR, Final Year MBBS), Mr. Hamza Mumtaz (President CBS, UCMD), Miss. Nida Zakrya (GR, Final Year, MBBS), Mr. Fahad Ali (CR, 4th Year, MBBS) and Miss. Sara Saleem (GR, 4th Year, MBBS).

The event kicked off as the hosts of the evening Mr. Abul Rehman and Ms. Aunab Baloch (4th Year, MBBS) welcomed the crowd that was already buzzing with excitement. Camera flashes, indistinct conversations, and positive vibes filled the air resulting in a captivating environment that was enjoyed by all guests of the evening.

The night was filled with back to back entertaining student performances. Mr. Usman Zafar (Final Year, MBBS) cracked up the crowd with friendly yet humorous jokes and remarks on his fellow classmates. This was followed by a soulful singing performance by Ms. Arooj Fatima (Final Year, MBBS).

To carry on the entertainment for the evening, the ever so talented Mr. Basit Attiq (Final Year, MBBS) took the stage with his captivating guitar and solo singing performance. To take a break from all the singing, the next two performers Mr. Ali Rohan and Ali Hamza (Final Year, MBBS) shook the stage with their Michael Jackson-inspired dancing performance.

The next segment of the evening was hosted by Mr. Gohar Ayub and Ms. Rabia Nasir Ullah (Final Year, MBBS), in which several students of the graduating class were awarded their distinguished titles. Mr. Mustafa Nadeem (Final Year, MBBS) received the title for “Theeta of the Year” while Ms. Sara Iftikhar (Final Year, MBBS) received the title for “Fashionista of the Year”.

The night took a turn with the cutting of the grand and coveted farewell cake (Courtesy of UCMD), which was preceded by a soulful qawali performance. Students enjoyed the ambience of a bonfire in the background, while everyone took this opportunity to spend time with friends, enjoy qawali, take pictures and capture moments they will cherish forever. The evening came to a close with a charismatic speech delivered by Prof. Dr. Mansab Ali (HoD Surgery, ULTH) who addressed the graduating class with words of encouragement and wisdom. On their exit, the graduating class of final year MBBS was gifted souvenirs.

UOL to host 17 international and national conferences in 2022

Lahore, May 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Lahore’s senior management recently ratified a decision to organize 17 International and national conferences at the UOL in the year 2022. The decision was based on a strong recommendation made by the Advisory Committee after detailed discussions with the respective heads of the department. The committee finalized 17 conference proposals based on merit, theme, numbers and profile of the keynote speakers, and proposed dates. The conferences will attract renowned national and international speakers.

All the conferences will be executed with full support and coordination through the Events Management Cell (EMC) while the conference focal person will be bound to update the former at least 6-8 weeks before the proposed date of the event.

So far, four conferences have been organized: National Conference on Education: Global Trends and Challenges in Higher Education (Department of Education), All Pakistan Inter-Medical College Physiology Quiz (IMCPQ3) on Hybrid Platform (University College of Medicine, and Dentistry (UCMD), 2nd National Conference on Recent Advances in Drug Discovery and Development (Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology), and National Conference on COVID-19 (UCMD/ULTH).

Seeing Imran Khan’s popularity among the people, the ‘child ruler’ is distraught: Ch Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, May 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi while commenting on the disruption of PTI jalsa in Sialkot by the fake government of Punjab said that Usman Dar and PTI Sialkot should thank Hamza Shahbaz for publicizing the PTI jalsa without any expenses. The difficult task that Usman Dar was doing alone has been taken over by PML-N and Hamza Shahbaz which created exhilaration among the people.

He said that the disruption of PTI jalsa in Sialkot has revealed that the ‘child ruler’ is distraught to see the growing popularity of Imran Khan among the people. The PML-N claims to have served the highest cause of democracy but has never fulfilled it. He said that it was the fundamental right of all parties, including PTI, to hold protests and rallies. PTI jalsa is to be held in Sialkot Insha-Allah as it is inescapable.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri expresses condolences on death of UAE President

Lahore, May 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):MQI founding leader Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow on the passing away of His Highness Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of the UAE.

In his condolence message, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in peace and give the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. He said that the people of Pakistan share the grief of their brothers and sisters in the UAE.

Conditioning camp at NHPC from Sunday 

Lahore, May 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sixty cricketers will attend the conditioning camp at the National High Performance Centre (NHPC) in Lahore in two different groups from Sunday.

First group of 27 cricketers will attend the camp from 15-25 May, while the second group comprising 33 cricketers will participate in the camp from 26 May to 10 June. Players featuring in the English County Championship have been exempted from these camps.

Pakistan squad for the ODI series against the West Indies will be announced on 23 May and those selected for the 8,10 and 12 June matches will attend the training camp, presently scheduled in Rawalpindi, from 1 June.
