We are not a selected government like Mr. Khan’s but a government that is truly representative of the people of Pakistan: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in conversation with CNN

Islamabad, April 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in conversation with CNN, has said that the PPP worked with a coalition government to oust Mr. Khan through a no-confidence motion. He tried to thwart our moves with what amounts to a constitutional coup but the Supreme Court of Pakistan decided against him. Ultimately, the parliament finished the democratic process to vote him out of office.

Answering a question regarding Chairman Bilawal being a foreign minister under a PM not from his own party, he said that it would be difficult for the party to stomach, being the second-largest member of the coalition. However, we do have to work together to address Pakistan’s problems. I would follow whatever the party decides in the better interest of the nation. At this point, all parties that are in the alliance that has defeated Imran Khan must work together for the restoration of democracy, electoral reforms and try to address the economic issues.

We absolutely want free and fair elections but in order for them to take place, we must legislate when it comes to the electoral reforms. As everybody knows, the 2018 elections that Khan used to come to power have been widely seen and condemned not only nationally but internationally as rigged and compromised elections that resulted in three years of an autocratic dictatorial rule through the office of Imran Khan. He not only robbed our media of media freedoms but robbed average Pakistanis of their democratic rights that they we had just recently started to enjoy.

It is a big victory for democracy that we are moving towards electoral reforms and free and fair elections. We are not a selected government like Mr. Khan’s but a government that is truly representative of the people of Pakistan and can decide their fate. The American people would be able to relate to what Pakistan is going through right now. Pakistan just recently experienced our equivalent to America’s January 6th moment. Mr. Khan despite knowing that he had lost his majority in the parliament tried acting through his speaker to conduct a constitutional coup.

He has come up with a big lie of an international conspiracy led by the United States to oust him when the fact is that he is the first PM in the history of Pakistan to have been ousted through constitutional, democratic means. This is a massive victory for Pakistan’s democracy. As far as his support is concerned, little fascists all over the world enjoy their cult following but that does not mean that the majority of Pakistan should be dictated to by these fascist regimes.

As far as Imran Khan’s support in the public is concerned, even though we criticise the last elections as heavily rigged, according to what Khan called the most free and fair elections in history, his position represents 30% of the people of Pakistan’s votes. Whereas, our coalition represents 70% of the people of Pakistan’s votes.

As far as Pakistan’s relations with the West or any other country are concerned, Imran Khan despite being extremely anti-American in his rhetoric when he is out of government, when he was is the government and Mr. Trump was the President of the US, Imran has enjoyed very cordial relations with him. It is true that since President Biden has taken over and following the complexities in Afghanistan, there have been difficulties between the US and Pakistan’s relations.

Mr. Khan is manipulating the series of events to try and create this perception that there is some grand conspiracy when the fact of the matter is that there is none. Our decision to bring a vote of no-confidence was taken much before Mr. Khan’s visit to Russia on the eve of the Ukrainian crisis. We had no way of knowing that Mr. Khan would shake President Putin’s hand as he would be invading Ukraine and as a result there would be some sort of friction is foreign policy.

Since Mr. Khan was removed through a democratic process, because he does not have any narrative that allows him to be presented as a victim, he is relying on Pakistanis’ general anti-American sentiment. He is trying to provoke a very dangerous situation where he has declared 70% of the parliamentarians that represent 70% of the people’s mandate as traitors unilaterally. America has had 200 years of democracy to sustain the pressures of this sort of attack. Pakistan’s democracy is very young, new and Mr. Khan’s assault through his big lie and fascist tendencies is indeed a threat to our society.

Answering a question regarding dynastic politics, Chairman Bilawal said that dynasties absolutely exist and it would be unfair to criticise the former Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hilary Clinton for being involved in politics because her husband was involved in politics etc. You can criticise nepotism and dynastic politics as much as you want but whoever the people of Pakistan decide, that should matter by the end of the day.

As far as Mr. Khan is concerned, his entire party is full of dynasties. His children may be underaged and not involved in politics but in his provincial governments, federal representations and his party, he relies heavily on Pakistani dynasties.

Referring to himself, Chairman Bilawal said that his grandfather was hanged by a military dictator, his mother was assassinated by the connivance of terrorists and a dictator and he was forced into Pakistani politics at a young age. He did not choose this life, it chose him. For whatever reason one is doing politics, we believe in democracy and that the people should decide. Mr. Khan likes to talk about democracy when in fact he believes in rigging elections and coming to power.

Shaheen, Labuschagne and Miandad feature in 39th PCB Podcast

Lahore, April 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and Marnus Labuschagne of Australia reflect on 19 days of grueling, exciting and high-voltage cricket between the two sides in the latest edition of the PCB Podcast, which is available here for viewing and downloading.

Shaheen, who took nine wickets in three Tests, said: “This series has brought players from either side closer than ever. We visited Australia in 2019 and also met their players during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, but almost six weeks together has helped bridge the gap. There were tough moments in the field of play, but off field everything was easy, relaxed and friendly.

“The incident with David Warner turned out to be an amusing one. It was the last ball of the day and I came very close to David on my follow through. David has a good sense of humour, so he also stayed there and it made a great shot for the photographers. It was a light hearted incident and it stayed that way, but both David and I enjoyed the social media reaction in the days that followed.”

Labuschagne, who scored 170 runs in three Tests, said: “It’s been an amazing tour. The Pakistani people have really accepted the Australian (cricket) team. It was like a home game with the amount of crowd noise we’ve got in some of the matches.

“It’s been really an eye-opening experience as well, to what Pakistan’s like, obviously when you, haven’t been to a country, there’s a lot of speculation. You obviously paint a picture in your mind but, the country itself as far exceeded my expectations in terms of the picture and what the people are about.

“Cricket on the field has been really hard and competitive. But there’s been such great times and I’ve had a really good time with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan, even Abdullah Shafique and Imam-Ul-Haq when they’re batting. It’s been really exciting and enjoyable that you can play a series where it’s competitive, but also friendly. Off the field, you can have a laugh about things that have happened and stuff like that.”

Australia arrived in Islamabad on 27 February and departed on 6 April after playing three Tests, three ODIs and a T20I. The Test series was decided in the final session on the 15th day, the ODI series was won by Pakistan by 2-1 and in the one-off T20I, Australia overcame a late collapse to win by three wickets.

Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad, who was inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame during the Karachi Test, also spoke with PCB Digital and reflected on his early career days. The master batter paid tribute to India maestro Sunil Gavaskar, while praising his technique and temperament.

The 39th PCB Podcast also includes special feature on Aftab Ahmed, the 24-year-old from Qilla Saifullah who represented Balochistan 2nd XI in the 2021-22 season. In this touching story, Aftab reveals his family and friends abandoned him for his love for cricket, shares his struggle and admits being on the brink of committing suicide after he failed to make any headway in the sport before he found light at the end of the tunnel and was now happy and content with his career progression.

QUEBEC CITY, April 13, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — LeddarTech®, a global leader in providing the most flexible, robust and accurate ADAS and AD sensing technology, is pleased to announce the availability of a completely new version of the LeddarEngine software to enable and accelerate LiDAR sensor development.

The LeddarEngine sets a new standard for developing highly integrated and flexible solid-state LiDAR solutions optimized for high-volume production. This complete solution comprises the LeddarCore™ LCA3 system on chip (SoC) and LeddarSP™ signal processing.

This new version specifically introduces several new integration tiers for the LeddarEngine software and compatibility with new hardware platforms. LeddarTech is introducing a separation of the control, signal processing and point-cloud processing, which can be used independently or in combination, enabling customers to maintain greater control over their final solution.

LiDAR developers that presently have signal processing toolchains implemented for their current products will benefit from using only the control kernel for easier and faster integration of the LeddarCore into their next-generation products. Tier 1-2s, system integrators and new LiDAR makers will still benefit from the complete offering by leveraging LeddarTech’s proprietary signal processing and expertise.

This version of the LeddarEngine is compatible with Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC, in addition to the already supported Renesas R-Car SoC. Furthermore, the porting to other platforms and operating systems is now easier than ever, thanks to this new modular architecture which improves the separation of hardware and software.

Key Benefits

  • Easier integration into existing architectures, enabling retrofit to improve cost, power consumption and size
  • Enables Tier 1-2s and LiDAR makers to leverage existing signal processing toolchain and to develop their algorithms
  • Support for new hardware platforms and easier porting to new operating systems
  • Fully scalable and modular software offering available to accelerate development and time-to-market

“Over the past 15 years, LeddarTech has been a leader in developing sensing solutions that support our customers in developing ADAS and AD products,” stated Mr. Charles Boulanger, CEO of LeddarTech. “The natural evolution of our LeddarEngine powered by our LCA3 SoC and especially our proprietary modular software enables our customers to even greater flexibility in design and to accelerate their development time, leading to lower cost and a faster path to revenue,” concluded Mr. Boulanger.
