Science Club of University of Turbat organizes various scientific sessions

Turbat, April 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Science Club of the University of Turbat (UoT) organized various scientific sessions at University on 31st March and 1st April 2022. Dr. Abdul Hafeez Laghari, a Senior Scientific Officer and Deputy Quality Manager at Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), Karachi was the resource person of the scientific sessions.

The first and second day’s scientific sessions were chaired by Dr. Naeemullah, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman, Associate Professor, respectively. The sessions were attended by the students and scholars of M.Phil. Master and BS programs.

During the scientific sessions, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Laghari provided detailed information regarding the PCSIR laboratory, its functions, and different sections. He also identified various opportunities and facilities that the students of the University of Turbat can avail there at PCSIR.

Different ongoing and future PSDP projects were also discussed during the sessions to encourage the students and research scholars to pursue a research career ahead. He also briefed the participants about the internship opportunities and procedures for the submission of applications for internships at PCSIR. He offered the students and researchers of Turbat University to send their research samples to PCSIR for characterization.

During the session, the participants were also briefed regarding Career Counselling and developing a standard CV according to the job requirements. The participants were also informed regarding the pattern and score requirements of different international tests including GRE, TOEFL, and ILETS for availing fellowship and scholarships to pursue higher and advanced studies abroad.

On the second day of the event, an exclusive interactive session with M.Phil scholars was held in the Lecture Hall, in which the research topics of the scholars were discussed. Dr. Abdul Hafeez Laghari, Dr. Naeemullah, Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman, Dr. Jeand Ibrahim, and other Ph.D. scholars also participated in the interactive session.

HPLC and its instrumentation were also shared with the students during the session, and the participants also deliberated on different types of solvents, advantages, and disadvantages of HPLC, and factors that might influence the analysis.

Earlier, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Laghari met with Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice-Chancellor, the University of Turbat in his chamber and discussed the possibilities of enhancing research collaboration between Turbat University and PCSIR.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked him for visiting Turbat University and holding sessions on various scientific and research topics for the students and research scholars of the university. The Vice-Chancellor also presented him with a commemorative shield of the university on the occasion.

Punjab Assembly session adjourned without voting to elect new chief minister

Islamabad, April 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Punjab Assembly was adjourned after meeting for 13 minutes only without voting to elect the new leader of the house, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) it its daily factsheet on Sunday.

Following are key observations of the House proceedings during the second sitting of 40th session:

Members’ Participation

The House met for 13 minutes.

The sitting started at 12:26 pm against the scheduled time of 11:30 am.

The deputy speaker chaired the entire sitting.

The opposition leader attended the entire sitting.

As many as 364 MPAs (98%) were present at the outset and adjournment of the sitting.

Parliamentary leaders of PPPP and PRHP were present.

Seven out of eight minority lawmakers attended the sitting.

Order and Institutionalization:

The House was adjourned to meet again on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 11:30 am.

A grave attack has been made on the constitution, we expect the Supreme Court to correct it: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Islamabad, April 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in conversation with a private television channel has said that the PM, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, President and anybody involved in this act today have committed high treason.

There is no space in our constitution for them to dissolve the assembly, issue a notification to dissolve the assembly while we bring a vote of no-confidence against the PM. There is no space in the constitution for them to not hold the vote of no-confidence today. There is no space in the constitution, rules of the National Assembly, democracy and law that allows them to run from the session today.

We are recording our protest in the Parliament. We have demanded of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and all those institutions responsible for the protection and implementation of the constitution to do so and accept our no-confidence that is legal.

It was their own decision to have Ayaz Sadiq on the panel of the Chair. Following the policy of the House, Ayaz Sadiq has chaired the session of the National Assembly. When the Speaker is not present, neither is the deputy Speaker, it is the responsibility of the one nominated on the panel to conduct the session. The vote of no-confidence took place and we secured 195 votes.

We hope that our judiciary will not let any unconstitutional act take place.

Responding to the questions of the panellists, Chairman PPP said that when such a grave attack has been made on the constitution, we expect for the Supreme Court to correct it.

The PM has committed treason to run from the no-confidence. We have proved that the majority is with us. We will not let Pakistan be run on the rule of the jungle.

The PM and Speaker are not even aware of how grave the act they have committed is.

Raza Rabbani, Farooq Naek, Nayyer Hussain Bukhari along with others are preparing a petition.

The opposition is ready for elections. It is not possible for the Supreme Court to not stand with us. It is bound to stand with and defend the constitution.

We submitted a no-confidence motion against the Speaker too after which he cannot even prorogue the session.

Our position now is that the no-confidence has been completed and Imran Khan has ceased to be the prime minister of Pakistan.

Imran Khan is trying to become a carbon copy of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. It is ridiculous. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto never abrogated the constitution. We were the ones who drafted it. He did not abrogate the constitution even to save his life. He said that he would not expose national secrets even if it meant that he would lose his life. This is nationalism and patriotism.

Imran Khan will be dealt with according to Article 6.

The united opposition’s numbers are complete not only for the no-confidence to succeed but also for the PM.

The reality is that Imran Khan has lost, according to the constitution and democracy.

Do the Pakistani people want for things to take place according to the constitution or a person’s ego? Pakistan has become a banana republic before the world today. We will not let Imran succeed in this conspiracy.

It is Imran’s disillusion just like that of Musharraf that he would succeed after creating a law and order situation. Justice Waqar Seth clearly wrote in his order what the punishment of traitors is.

The President tried to abrogate the constitution today.

As far as the foreign conspiracy is concerned, all are witness to how our efforts have always been to remove this undemocratic man. Long before the PM went to Russia, me and my father went to Shehbaz Sharif to form consensus. Even before that, we had our CEC meeting where it was decided to proceed with the long march and no-confidence.

Even before that, in September 2020 when we were laying the foundation of the PDM, no-confidence was one of the points.

Are we psychic? Would we have known in September 2020 that there would be a conflict in Ukraine? Had this conspiracy claim been true, why did he wait till the last minute to reveal it? He should have demarched that diplomat on the very same day. This is not a game of cricket. The Parliament is the supreme institution. What happened in the Parliament today cannot be forgiven.

No-confidence is the only democratic way for the transfer of power. If the Parliament’s peaceful transfer of power is hindered today, a precedent can be set for the transfer of power in the Supreme Court as well. There are other institutions in Rawalpindi that can face the same problem.

There is no space for the Supreme Court to not support us. We salute the Supreme Court for showing a responsible attitude even on a Sunday. We have hopes associated with it. The constitution has been abrogated and there has also been a 100% contempt of court today.

The meeting was adjourned due to uproar and commotion of PML-N, I have a very old and friendly relationship with Ch Sarwar

Lahore, April 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi along with Muhammad Basharat Raja, Hafiz Ammar Yasir and other members of the Punjab Assembly told the media outside the Punjab Assembly that we were fully prepared and our numbers were higher than the opposition. After the uproar and commotion of PML-N in the Punjab Assembly, the Deputy Speaker had no option but to adjourn the session till April 6.

When the election process started, those who were elected on PTI tickets, our people went and told them that this is not your place. When they started coming towards us, the opposition members attacked them and then everyone saw what happened.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that there is no thought of dissolving the Punjab Assembly. He said that I have a very old and friendly relationship with Chaudhry Sarwar. Whatever he says, I will not say anything against him. Allah knows what the future of Chaudhry Sarwar will be. The Prime Minister did me a favour six days ago. You have been enjoying the governorship for three and a half years. Think about it.

In response to a question, Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi said that both Abdul Aleem Khan and Jahangir Tareen have been disengaged. Aleem Khan should quit this job and work for the societies. The whole scenario will be cleared on April 6.

United opposition will protest in the Assembly: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Islamabad, April 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari talking to the media has said that today, that we had numbers to pass the no-confidence motion and the Speaker has made an unconstitutional move. Pakistan’s constitution has been violated. The punishment for doing so is clear. The united opposition has decided to protest in the National Assembly until our constitutional right is attained.

Our lawyers will approach the Supreme Court now for the voting on the no-confidence to be held today.
He cannot dissolve the Assembly now. He must face the no-confidence. If the Speaker thinks that he can prorogue the House, we have snatched this option be submitting a no-confidence against him as well.

The only democratic and constitutional way is for the Supreme Court to rule for the no-confidence voting to take place today. This is a childish act and Imran Khan has exposed himself further. I would like to appeal to the Pakistani nation to support the constitution and democracy, not some puppet and undemocratic person. Imran Khan is running from the no-confidence by fabricating a foreign conspiracy. We have the Supreme Court and will not let him proceed with such unconstitutional acts.

All the unconstitutional things that Imran has done today are not to hold free and fair elections, but to force unfair elections: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Islamabad, April 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in an interview to Al Jazeera News said that no one is against election and in fact this was the whole reason that we brought the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan because the opposition believes that the 2018 elections were heavily compromised.

He said that in order to go for free and fair elections we first have to remove MR. Khan and conduct the electoral reforms and then to have free and fair elections. What Khan has done today is not only unconstitutional, it coup attempt.

The constitution of Pakistan does have one legitimate means to remove the prime minister of Pakistan and that is no-confidence motion. Our constitution does not allow for them to not holding voting on the no-confidence motion. Our constitution does not allow the Speaker to prorogue the session as they have done. Our constitution does not allow the President of Pakistan to try and dissolve the Assembly while the no-confidence motion is pending.

So, all he has done today is not to force a free and fair elections but to force an unfair elections and to create a constitutional crisis and that is why I say that it is a coup attempt. We have challenged it in the Supreme Court and we have expectations from the Supreme Court. According to the rules of the National Assembly of Pakistan after the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker, there is a panel of Chairman.

On the panel of Speaker there was a former Speaker Mr. Ayaz Sadiq who once the Deputy Speaker left, took over the Chair and continued on the voting on the no-confidence motion. So, the united opposition showed the people of Pakistan and showed the world that 195 people voted in favour of our motion and against Imran Khan. In order to save himself from that defeat and embarrassment, Mr. Khan has run away from today’s no-confidence vote. In doing so he has broken the constitution.

Imran Khan Defence and everything is in the kitchen sink. He started with corruption and ended up in foreign conspiracy and I am sure there will be add on in the list. The people of Pakistan know the facts. They know that in 2018 a grave injustice was committed to the people of Pakistan when our elections were rigged. No party enjoyed equal playing field.

The people of Pakistan are seeing for three years that the prime minister select conducted himself in an undemocratic manner. The people of Pakistan believe in democracy. The people of Pakistan want out of this crisis. This is a crisis of Imran Khan’s own making. IA the united opposition will work together and will not allow Imran to be successful and we will take people out of this crisis.

The term selected means exactly what it does. I think what is important to know that the establishment and all institutions of Pakistan once this no-confidence motion came forth, they have taken a decision to be apolitical. Our constitution and our law demand that such institutions remain apolitical.

This is a welcome decision just as I will stand up before you or the people of Pakistan I will condemn anyone violating the constitution. I will support and welcome those who support and work within the constitutional and legal framework.

Thus far it has happened and Mr. Khan has complained this. Mr. Khan does not want free and fair elections; Mr. Khan does not want democratic Pakistan. He wants Pakistan where he gets to rule by feat and he is supported undemocratically to continue his rule. The people of Pakistan will not allow him to do that.
