The IRCMUN 2.0, International Relation Club Model United Nations event held at Kinnaird College Lahore

Lahore, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):The IRCMUN 2.0, International Relation Club Model United Nations, was held at Kinnaird College Lahore from 21st to 23rd January, 2022. The event attracted a large number of delegations from all over Pakistan featuring students from different institutions and age groups. The UETMUN Society sent its delegation to all of the committees namely: United Nations Security Council, United Nations Women, United Nations Environmental Program, United Nations Human Rights Commission and Harry Potter Crises Committee.

The three days of rigorous days were full of heated debates, positive conflict of interests and laborious documentation. The Team UETMUN, despite tough competition with Aitchison College, GCU, CMH, UVAS, COMSATS UCP, still won the Best Delegation Award. This is fourth award for UETMUN Society in the academic year 2021-2022 so far, first three being CIMUN, PYMUN, and UCPMUN. Career Counselling Office organizes Monthly Recruitment Drive

Lahore, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Career Counselling Office, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore gracefully organized Monthly Recruitment Drive on 17th January, 2022. Four renowned Industries including Confiz, Clustox, Cotton Web Limited and Diamond Group of Industries conducted tests and interviews and recruited students from ten various disciplines, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Polymer; Process, Industrial, Mechatronics; Control, Textile, Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences and Business and Management.

Around 850 students and graduates appeared in this productive drive. The tests and interviews were held at Main Auditorium Complex, Computer Labs of Electrical Engineering Department, Computer Lab of Computer Engineering Department and Computer Lab of Computer Science Department.

A special lecture on Journalism for the State and Website Launching of Roznama Tehreek

Lahore, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Mr. Hassan Khawar, Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Punjab on information was the Chief Guest. He also delivered a productive lecture on the topic “Journalism for the State”. The occasion was graced by Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Registrar (MUL), Mr. Noor Ullah Siddiqui, Chief Executive, Roznama Tehreek and Dr. Khuwaja Alqama, Dean, Social Sciences and Humanities (MUL). Honourable Guest called upon Dr. Hussain Mohi Ud Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman (BOG, MUL) at his office and had an exchange of views. Later on, he visited the various departments of the university.

Law students receive shields, certificates on better feat in 3-day moot competition organized at Sindh University

Jamshoro, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):A 3-day Third Inter Classes Moot Court Competition 2022 was concluded at the Institute of Law, University of Sindh here on Thursday. SU Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro announced and awarded the runner-up and winner teams on the occasion.

The concluding ceremony was held at the Institute of Law, Mitha Ram Building Hyderabad, in which SU VC Professor (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro was the chief guest while Justice (R) Ghulam Rabbani of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) and Justice (R) Abdul Ghafoor Memon of Sindh High Court (SHC) were the guests of honour.

A briefing was given at the event that 12 groups of the students of Institute of Law participated in the Moot Court Competition 2022 which has been going on for the last three days. The students in each group conducted the court proceedings in the symbolic role of judges and lawyers. The grapes group was declared the winner for its outstanding performance, but the apple group was declared the runner-up.

At the closing ceremony, Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro announced the winner and runner-up groups and gave away the shields and certificates of appreciation to the concerned students. Ajraks were also presented to the Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Justice (R) Ghulam Rabbani and Justice (R) Abdul Ghafoor Memon, while the certificates were also given to all the teachers of the institute.

Addressing the ceremony, SU VC said that Kamiyab Nojwan program of the Prime Minister also suggested setting up societies for the mental growth of the youth. He said that he was happy that recently 10 graduates of SU’s Institute of Law had been appointed as judges and 12 students as law officers. “Teaching in the Institute of Law by senior lawyers and judges will benefit our students and they will be able to learn from their experiences,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor further said that law education was of great importance, therefore, after closing the 3-year LLB program, a 5-year LLB program was started after intermediate so that law education could be imparted to the students in a better way. He said that Sindh University would not grant affiliation to various colleges and institutes unless they provided necessary facilities to the students.

He said that recently, for the first time in the history of the Supreme Court, a woman judge had been appointed, which conveyed the message that there was always space for hardworking people in the courts of the country. “Through hard work, more women in the country can rise to higher judicial positions,” Dr Kalhoro said and added that the law education would be further promoted in SU’s institute of law.

Director in-charge, Institute of Law Dr. Ali Raza Leghari in his address welcomed the guests. Chairman Mootive Society and Assistant Professor Institute of Law Prof. Aroon Barkat thanked the guests at the juncture. Dr. Sardar Ali Shah, Danish Shabir Mangi, Rehana Anjum, Shabana Kausar Jatoi, Riaz-ud-Din Qureshi, Ghulam Sarwar Buledi, Muhammad Ali Kolachi, Riyasat Ali, Mudassir Ahmed Soomro, Abdul Samad Kalhoro, Salma Bughio and many others also attended the event.

WHO and Alkhidmat Foundation to venture into the healthcare 

Lahore, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Alkhidmat Foundation organized a 6-day free eye screening camp for children in Lahore. The eye examination found that 20% of the boys and 27% of the girls had poor eyesight. Spectacles were also provided to visually impaired children.

Alkhidmat Foundation in collaboration with POB organized a 6-day free eye screening camp in Alkhidmat School Khurshid Begum Campus Bedian Road, Lahore where more than 1200 school children underwent eye examination and provided with free spectacles. While Dr. Palitha Mahipala, Pakistan Country Head of the World Health Organisation was invited as the guest of honour to the event, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor, Senior Vice-President, Syed Ehsanullah Waqas, Head of WHO Punjab Dr Jamshed Ahmed, General Secretary of Alkhidmat Health Foundation, Prof Dr Muhammad Zahid Latif and Director Alkhidmat Health Services Lahore, Dr Ejaz Nazir were also present on the occasion.

A large number of people from all walks of life attended the event. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Palitha Mahipala said that in a country like Pakistan, it is very important for an organization to provide services to the rural and remote areas. Alkhidmat Foundation’s work across the country and at the grassroots level is a unique model that we value and look forward to working together in the healthcare sector in the future. Muhammad Abdus Shakoor, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan said that the World Health Organization has done a great job in the field of health including awareness in the recent past.

Dr. Ijaz Nazir, Director, Alkhidmat Health Department, Lahore, said that the tendency of children to have poor eyesight has increased to a dangerous level due to excessive use of mobiles, computers and TV. Alkhidmat and POBI are conducting eye screening camps in different schools under the same requirement. In the current eye camp, 20% of the boys and 27% of the girls have been found to have poor eyesight and they have been given spectacles.

Alkhidmat Conducts Biannual Review of All the Departments

Lahore, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Essentially a review is an opportunity to have a discussion with the team members about their work, achievements, personal development, and the goals their departments would achieve in the future. Alkhidmat Foundation conducts the reviews of all the departments of the central office twice a year. These reviews benefit the team members at the head office, the overall teams, the departments and the organization as a whole.

This year’s meetings provided an opportunity for the team members to have quality time with the Executive Director of AKFP, Secretary General and the President who as per their typical style evaluated the past progress. The review meeting discussed departments’ six months progress reports, their overall performance and the development. It also gave targets and objectives for the next six months. AKF Aghosh program aims to bring this beautiful smile on all the orphans of the country by providing them shelter, food, education, sports and a lot of friends.
