Green Crescent Trust’s and Shahid Afridi Foundation’s Third joint fundraiser in Lahore on 13th January 

Karachi, January 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):The alliance of two leading charities of Pakistan-the Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF) and Green Crescent Trust (GCT) for the first time are jointly stepping outside Sindh and coming to Lahore with an aim to extend their joint charitable work all over Pakistan for enrollment of the out-of-school children. The third joint fundraiser of the GCT and SAF will be held at a hotel in Lahore on January 13, 2022 to generate funds for the provision of quality school education to 10,000 out of school children belonging to the deprived communities in the country.

The two non-profits joined hands in 2018 to work together for the education of the out of school children of the deprived communities. Both the charities have been jointly running 8 schools having an enrollment of 3,000 students from the backward areas. The SAF and GCT have the aim to increase the number of their jointly managed charitable schools to 100 in the next five years for the children of the underprivileged areas.

Punjab Governor, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, will grace the occasion as chief guest. Leading sports celebrities including Shahid Afridi, Pakistan Cricket Team’s captain Babar Azam, Squash Legend Jahangir Khan and many players of Pakistan Cricket team will attend the event. Dr. Amjad Saquib, Founding Chairman, Akhuwat and 200 plus leading businessmen with families will also grace the occasion as guest of Honour. The sports memorabilia belonging to these celebrities will also be auctioned to generate funds for the noble cause.

Renowned humorist Anwar Maqsood will make a special appearance at the fundraiser. Other notable guests expected on the day, include Punjab School Education Minister Murad Raas, Punjab Sports Minister Muhammad Taimoor Khan, APTMA patron-in-chief Gouhar Ijaz. Celebrity actor, Adnan Siddiqui, Anwer Maqsood and Raja Matlub will jointly conduct the proceedings of the fundraiser. The SAF having extensive charitable work in many fields all across the country in recent past conduct a successful food ration drive during Covid-19 lockdown with active in-person participation of Shahid Afridi.

The GCT has been working in the field of education for the past 28 years with a network of 155 charitable schools having enrollment of 29,000 students of the deprived families. SAF Chairman, Shahid Afridi, said that his non-profit had joined hands with the GCT in view of its 28 years-long work to educate children of the backward areas, as the concerned charities of Pakistan should combine their resources in the same manner to do the noble work of ending illiteracy in Pakistan.

GCT CEO, Zahid Saeed, mentioned that in a recent meeting, President Dr Arif Alvi also appreciated the continuing partnership between the two charities while saying that the alliance emerged as an ideal example for the non-governmental sector of Pakistan to work together to enroll out-of-school children in every part of Pakistan.

Notice for Submission of Documents at Examination Center for Permission to sit in Exams

Dear Students,

Before taking the Mid-Semester Exams, all newly admitted students who have not yet submitted documents to the University and/or have not received a document confirmation email should submit three sets of complete and readable attested photocopies of the following educational documents in accordance with their respective admission eligibility to the Exam Superintendent / Campus Manager for permission to appear in the mid-semester exams (fall 2021) at their respective Examination Center:

Admission Form

Matric

Intermediate (IBBC Equivalence in case of A/O Level)

Bachelor (Part 1 and 2 result card/transcript and Degree as applicable) and

BS (4-year)/ Master (2-year) (result card/transcript and Degree as applicable)

CNIC or B-Form (as applicable)

Three recent Passport size Photograph (preferably with blue background and signature below pasted on paper)

(Write your admission form No. or Student ID on each document)

Note:

Students who failed to submit documents will not be allowed to sit in the Examinations.

The admissions of those students who got admitted on the basis of the Hope certificate and failed to submit the complete documents along with the valid Result card in place of the Hope certificate will be CANCELLED.

Swift action will be taken against Brick Kiln owners in reported human rights violations: Special Assistant to CM for Human Rights Surendar Valasai 

Karachi, January 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Human Rights Surendar Valasai has taken notice of reports in social media about human rights violations, including child labour and forced labour in Brick Kilns of Tharparker, and Umerkot and formed a Fact-Finding Committee to visit and collect details before taking legal actions as per laws.

In a statement, Surendar Valasai said that violation any human right will not be tolerated and swift actions will be taken against Brick Kiln owners involved in reported violations. He said that initially, the Fact-Finding Committee will conduct inquiries in Tharparker and Umerkot districts. However, such inquiries shall also be held in other districts as well, he added.

The Fact-Finding Committee will comprise of the members from Provincial Human Rights Vigilance Committee, Human Rights Department Ayub Khoso, Tariq Khattak, Samtra Manjiani (Tharparker) and Noor Jehan Gehalro (Umerkot). Ayub Khoso will be the head of the Committee.

Khanspur Campus turned into relief camp

Lahore, January 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):On the direction of Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, Khanspur Campus has been turned into a relief camp to provide shelter and other services to the stranded people in the vicinity.

In his tweet, Dr Niaz Ahmad said that the people facing difficulties in the area could reside and avail other related services at Khanspur Campus free of cost. He said that the staff of the campus had also been instructed to extended maximum help to the people. He also prayed for the departed souls and expressed condolence with the relatives of the victims. He appreciated rescue and relief efforts of Pakistan Army, Police and other institutions.

Lahore, January 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi telephoned Haji Karam Hussain, a Muslim League leader from Talagang and expressed his condolences over the death of his nephew ASI Muhammad Naveed, including his six children, in the Murree tragedy.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that the whole nation is mourning over the Murree tragedy. We are deeply saddened on the sudden death of ASI Muhammad Naveed and his six children. He said that we equally share your grief, may Allah forgive the deceased and grant you all patience.
