Three-Days International Conference on Democratic Federalism: Governance, Decentralization and Diversity in Pakistan concluded at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur

Khairpur, December 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):Three-Days International Conference on Democratic Federalism: Governance, Decentralization and Diversity in Pakistan organized by the Department of Political Science in collaboration with Govt. of Sindh, Sukkur IBA University, Bhittai Social Watch and Advocacy (BSWA), Khairpur and Marvi Rural Development Organization (MRDO), Sukkur concluded at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor presided over the concluding ceremony while Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Dean Faculty of Arts and Languages, Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ali Junejo, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ishtiaque Ahmed Choudhery from Garrison University Lahore, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Nawaz Hakro from Oman, and Prof. Dr. Shabana from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad were the guests of honour.

Talking to the participants of the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto accorded special thanks to the guests and organizing committee of the conference for organizing this international conference in befitting manner with academic spirit. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that themes of the conference were very important and relevant with the governance, federalism and diversified culture of Pakistan. Dr. Ibupoto said that the recommendations of the conference will be sent to the Government of Pakistan for implementation so the federation and sovereignty of Pakistan could be strengthened in democratic manner, he added.

Prof. Dr. Amir Ali Chandio, Chairman Department of Political Science and Conference Secretary extended his vote of thanks to the participants, scholars and sponsors. He presented the recommendations of the conference. It was recommended that the democratic way of resolving issues related to the governance and politics be adopted, participatory approach towards decisions policy making should be adopted. It was recommended that the politicians in Upper and Lower House should be allowed to play their rule in the governance process.

Senate should be made more powerful that delivers proportionate balance of powers among the provinces. It was recommended that the good governance and interaction among the various ethnicities should be increased. All languages should be given due importance and no ethnic group should feel deprived. The economic federalism and political federalism should be separately dealt in the policy and research paradigm.

The Decentralization of power should be expedited carefully with the intension of development in the local vicinities. The curriculum at all levels of education should be improved and reformed so that more religious, ethnic and social tolerance can be created among masses. The gender balance and women empowerment should be focused in political and economic spheres of life.

It is recalled that more than 80 research papers were presented while 8 papers from foreign countries Oman, Turkey, China, Nepal, USA, Indonesia and Germany were presented physically and via online mode. The delegation from more than 37 national Universities from the across the country participated in the conference.

The proceeding of the closing session was conducted by Prof. Shahida Amir Chandio. The participants share their views that University provided excellent hospitality. The galaxy of scholars attended the conference, developed social integration and unity of thoughts for the peace and progress of the country. A large number of Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students attended the concluding ceremony.

Mr. Faisal Tabassum Honoured

Khairpur, December 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):Mr. Faisal Tabassum, Student of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur who clinched Two Silver Medals and Cash of Rs. 30,.000/- in Athletics Race of 800 Meters and 1500 Meters in Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive held at Liaquat Gymnasium, Islamabad honoured by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto presented shields and decorated traditional Sindhi Ajrak to Mr. Faisal Tabassum in recognition of his best performance in the Sports Drive.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto shed light on the significance of ports activism. He said educational activities and sports are vital for positive mindset to behave properly in the society. Dr. Ibupoto appreciated the efforts of Mr. Muhammad Murad Pirzada, Director Physical Education and his team for contributing positively and coaching the students in various games. It is matter of high pride that Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur has won different matches at national level. I am optimistic that Insha Allah we will participate at international level.

Khairpur, December 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Research Scholars from different counties and national scholars presented more than 50 research papers on the second day of three-Days International Conference on Democratic Federalism: Governance, Decentralization and Diversity in Pakistan organized by the Department of Political Science in collaboration with Govt. of Sindh, Sukkur IBA University, Bhittai Social Watch and Advocacy (BSWA), Khairpur and Marvi Rural Development Organization (MRDO), Sukkur at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in different sessions on the theme federalism, good governance, gender equity, Center-Province Relations in Pakistan, Constitutionalism and Federalism: A critical review in the perspective of Pakistan, Decentralization, Democracy and the future of Federal Pakistan, Federalism: Gender and leadership in Sindh, Pakistan, CPEC – A case study of Pakistan’s Security Challenges and others.

The Scholars said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is a sum total of multiple infrastructural and energy projects worth of $62 billion presently underway in Pakistan. China and Pakistan see, CPEC as a ‘game changer’ fostering ‘shared prosperity and peace’ in the region. In Pakistan women have been underrepresented in the policy making process. The patriarchal structure in Pakistan do not allow the participation of the women in politics and the politics is considered as the domain of the male. They said that the strength of federation could be attained with the education, consensus and distribution of equitable resources. It is our collective duty to make this state as strong in comity of the nation with the feelings of patriotism, and commitment.

Industrial Visit to Ahmed Manufacturing Private Limited 

Karachi, December 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):An industrial trip to Ahmad Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd. was arranged for the students of semester V students of Mechanical Engineering department on Thursday and Friday, December 16th and 17th 2021 respectively. Under the supervision of Engr. Hassan Ahmed Khan and Engr Taha Irshad, the students visited Ahmad Manufacturing where they were able to observe the processes and understand the practical aspects of concepts studied in the course of Manufacturing Processes.

Students were divided into groups and a company representative guided them through the whole process of towel manufacturing, where in, the representatives explained each process in detail, from raw material to finished goods to its packaging and labelling. The trip was a great learning opportunity for students as it helped students relate many concepts studied in the classroom to real settings.

3rd International Workshop on Functional Reverse Engineering of Machine Tools (WRE 2021) 

Swabi, December 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The 3rd International Workshop on Functional Reverse Engineering of Machine Tools (WRE 2021) was organized at GIK Institute on 11 December, 2021. The workshop was technically co-sponsored by IEEE and IMechE and financially sponsored by Directorate General of Science and Technology, Government of KP. Proceedings of the workshop will be published by CRC Press (Taylor and Francis Group, USA) as “Computers in Engineering Design and Manufacturing” book series.

The crux of the opinion in the three days ‘International Workshop on Functional Reverse Engineering Machine Tools’ in Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology was that the application of functional reverse engineering has gained a considerable momentum while ensuring the safety and well-being of the users of different products.

Rector, GIK Institute, Professor Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, was the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony, and Prof. Dr. Tahir Irfan Khan, Vice Chancellor, Abbottabad University of Science and Technology was the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony.

The academic experts from across the world and Pakistan spoke in the workshop and their participation became possible due to rigorous efforts of Prof. Dr. Wasim A. Khan, Pro-Rector, academics. He was general chair of the workshop. A large number of national and international scientists, invited speakers and practitioners attended the workshop. There were four keynote talks and four parallel technical sessions including six invited talks and twelve chapter presentations. Among the prominent speakers at workshop were:

Addressing on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid said that the workshop was a golden opportunity for the academic experts from across the world and Pakistan to exchange views with each views with each other and adopt new measures for quality enhancing and finding faults in different products in the best interest of the people and future generation.

The experts said that the purpose of functional reverse engineering is to improve the existing products and machines, studying more closely the efficiency, design and manufacturing. Prof. Dr. Wasim A. Khan spoke in detail about the functional reverse engineering process and its importance for the society. “Quality is the most important aspect of functional reverse engineering,” he said.

Both the Chief Guests congratulated the untiring efforts of the Workshop General Chair, Professor Dr. Wasim A. Khan and his team, including Dr. Ghulam Abbas, Dr. Khalid Rehman and Dr. Ghulam Hussain, on successful conduction of the International Workshop.
