International Conference on Research in Special Education at the IUB 

Bahawalpur, November 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):The first International Conference on Research in Special Education at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur was attended by eminent domestic and foreign educators. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor in his inaugural address said that education is a basic need of every human being. The field of special education is gaining worldwide attention due to its importance. The talents of these students are no less than those of ordinary people. It is a matter of great pleasure that a conference on this subject was held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and experts from all over the world participated in it.

He said that our students are playing a significant role in every field of mental and physical compulsion without any discrimination. There is a need for experts to come together in a forum and highlight new research aspects in the education of special education specialists. A Center for Assistance Technologies will be set up at the university. The center for special students will also be guided by special people. Special guest Nazir Ahmad Khan, Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Special Education said that the steps taken by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in the field of special education are commendable.

He said that more work needs to be done for special education and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Ahmed Khan Buzdar has a special interest in the field of special education. In this regard, the Punjab government has taken many welfare measures and allocated funds. He said that special people are not inferior in any way, they have all kinds of abilities and these people are making their name in every field. Prof. Dr. Akhtar Ali, Dean, Faculty of Education, said that with this platform, we have brought together people associated with special education. It is the only institution in South Punjab in which many steps have been taken for special education.

At present more than 400 special students are studying. In addition, the research program will be improved in the future and we will start a PhD program like this. Former Dean and Educationist Dr. Aslam Adib said that there is a lot of work to be done in the field of special education. He suggested that a committee of teachers be formed in the fields of education, special education, social work and psychology to work out a new curriculum for special persons. Prof. Dr. Abdul Jameed, Punjab University, Lahore said that it is a great pleasure to hold a conference on the subject of special education at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur today.

He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Nasreen Akhtar and said that this conference has started the improvement in the field of special education and this sector will go further and we will do whatever help is needed from us. The focal person of the conference, Prof. Dr. Nasreen Akhtar said that the conference is being held under the auspices of Research in Special Education in which delegates from different countries are participating.

According to the vision of Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, a Center for Assistance Technologies will be set up in which special education teachers will be trained. She said that at present students are studying in BS special education. We are trying our best to launch MS, M.Phil and Ph.D programs in special education in the future. She thanked the local and foreign delegates for attending the conference.

On the second day of the conference, keynote speakers and themes included Dr. Humaira Bano from Punjab University Lahore, Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed University of Management and Technology, Dr. Shagufta Shahzadi University of Karachi, Dr. Cristapollo Australia, Dr. Rania Romulus Greece, Dr. Monatman Egypt, Dr. Khalid Khurshid Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan has made changes in the field of special education and quality education, education for all, problems and opportunities for youth, skills education, special education curriculum, challenges facing special education during the Corona epidemic, slow learners.

Important such as teaching facilities, favourable environment for persons with disabilities in universities, ethics in special education, legislation for special education, modern classrooms for special education, role of technology in special education, technical and vocational education for special persons. Topics were discussed and guest of honour Saleem Mansoor delivered a special address. Vice Chancellor Engineer Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob distributed shields and certificates among the delegates participating in the conference.

The focal person of the conference, Prof. Dr. Nasreen Akhtar said in the closing session that this conference was very important in terms of its theme and social needs. Domestic and foreign experts discussed the challenges facing the education and training of special people. Their useful feedback will be published in book form and sent to national and international organizations so that policy makers realize the importance of this important and sensitive topic and together we can better arrange education and training of special people. So that they can be part of the collective good as useful citizens.

MoU signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the Institute of Policy Studies 

Bahawalpur, November 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the Institute of Policy Studies for joint education and research. The agreement was signed by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and Chairman Institute of Policy Studies Islamabad Khalid Rehman. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that it was the need of the hour for higher education institutions to promote social and economic development through quality and useful research.

He said that such purposeful research and cooperation in the field of higher education would help in making the country a knowledge-based society. This agreement would pave new avenues for collaboration between teachers and experts of both the institutions. Under the agreement, the two institutions will increase joint research projects as well as academic and publishing activities, as well as academic collaboration at the faculty and student levels.

The purpose of these activities is to assist in policy making at both public and private levels. Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Assistant Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Gill and Muhammad Hamid Murtaza from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Syed Abrar Hussain Vice President, Nawfal Shahrukh, Syed Nadeem Farhat and Shafaq Sarfraz from Institute of Policy Studies was also present.

National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council of the HEC has given accreditation to the Department of Entomology

Bahawalpur, November 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):The National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council of the Higher Education Commission has given accreditation to the Department of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. This accreditation is given in category x-3.

The Central Committee had visited the Islamia University of Bahawalpur last year February. Following the report of this visit, the Department of Entomology was accredited by February 2023. Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has congratulated Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal and Head Department of Entomology Dr. Muhammad Waqar Hassan.

Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Inaugurated the ‘Psychology Archives’ published by the department of applied psychology. This Psychology Archives show-casing all the initiatives taken by department of Applied Psychology from 2020-2021 for the first time in the history of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. This work was completed under the Dynamic Leadership of Dr. Muhammad Saleem and constant support from Vice Chancellor. Department has decided to make such publication every year.

Suraya Parveen Scholarship Program in IUB 

Bahawalpur, November 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):Under the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Suraya Parveen Scholarship Program, a scholarship will be provided to a student of the Department of Pharmacy every year. The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and Suraya Parveen Scholarship Officer.

Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Vice Chancellor and Dr. Haji Muhammad Shoaib, Chairman, Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics were also present on the occasion. Under the agreement, the full fee for a Pharmacy student will be paid through a centralized scholarship through the Directorate of Financial Assistance. In this regard, priority will be given to orphan students.

A Cycle Rally organized by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur 

Bahawalpur, November 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):A cycle rally was organized by Green Campus Management the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in connection with the promotion of eco-friendly activities. The cycle rally started from Abbasia Campus and passed through DC Office, Farid Gate, Suholat Bazaar and ended back at Abbasia Campus. Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, was the chief guest on the occasion. Due to which efforts are being made at the international level to protect the earth from these harmful effects in the long run.

He said that Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob in view of these factors launched the Green Campus Project at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur which is an individual program of its kind in Pakistani universities. He said that Cycling reduces environmental pollution as well as has a positive effect on health.

Director Green Campus Dr. Abid Gul said that the series of cycling will be started in all the campuses. It has been started in Abbasia Campus today. He said that the purpose of these activities was to support the government in improving the quality of Air Indus. Dr. Kashif Akram said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur would work with the Bahawalpur local community to promote cycling. Dr. Fatima Khurram Bukhari said that female students are also increasingly participating in the cycling campaign.
